Madison Keys loses to 37-year-old qualifier at Queen's Club
LONDON (AP) — Madison Keys was stunned in straight sets by 37-year-old qualifier Tatjana Maria in the Queen's Club semifinals on Saturday.
Maria, a German mother of two, beat Keys 6-3, 7-6 (3) for her first career victory in four meetings with the reigning Australian Open champion.
Queen's is a grass-court tournament players also use to prepare for Wimbledon later this month.
Maria, ranked 86th, toppled the eight-ranked American, who hit 10 aces but failed to get a break.
Maria will face either Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen or the eighth-seeded Amanda Anisimova in the final.
Maria has three career titles, with her last coming in 2023 at Bogota.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Diego Rossi's ninth goal of the season capped the scoring for both teams in the first half and the Columbus Crew beat the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on Saturday. Columbus (8-3-7) won for the first time since May 3 when it beat Charlotte FC, 4-2. Vancouver fell to 10-2-5. Ibrahim Aliyu scored his second goal as a member of the Crew just 68 seconds in for a 1-0 Columbus lead. Aliyu took a pass from Lassi Lappalainen at the center of the box for the score. It was the second-fastest regular-season goal in the Crew's history. Daniel Ríos scored in the 6th minute from the middle outside the box off a pass from Mathias Laborda to level the score. The Crew reached the back of the net three times in the second half, but the apparent goals were wiped clean due to offside calls. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Cecilie Fløe scored in extra time and the Tampa Bay Sun won the inaugural USL Women's Super League championship with a 1-0 victory over Fort Lauderdale United on Saturday night. Sydny Nasello dribbled the ball along the back line before feeding it to Fløe, who timed her run between two defenders and scored in the 100th minute in front of a sellout crowd at Tampa's Riverfront Stadium. It was the Danish international's 12th goal of the season. Fort Lauderdale United (11-9-9) upset the top-seeded North Carolina Ascent, the Players' Shield winners, 2-1 in the semifinals last weekend. The Sun (13-6-10) downed the Dallas Trinity 2-1 in the other semi. The Super League, which wrapped up its first season, sits on the top tier of women's professional soccer in the United States alongside the National Women's Soccer League. The eight-team league plays a fall-to-spring calendar like many international leagues. A ninth team will join next season.
