Report: Texans offered three future picks to move up into top 40 of draft
Knowing Nick Caserio, the Houston Texans were always going to make trades during Day 2 of last month's NFL Draft. They did, targeting Minnesota offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to move up 10 spots in the second round from No. 58 to No. 48.
But was there another move in mind for Houston? What about another player other than the All-Big Ten tackle and three-year starter for the Golden Gophers? According to one report, the Texans might have been after another Big Ten talent to bolster new offensive coordinator Nick Caley's personnel.
In the first episode of the New England Patriots' Forged in Foxboro video series, cameras inside the draft room showed the offers the Patriots were getting while on the clock at No. 38. In the video, the Texans called, offering the Patriots a package of three picks in a swap: The No. 58 and No. 79 picks in the 2025 draft as well as a third-round pick in 2026.
The Patriots declined, leading to the selection of Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson. The Chicago Bears also made a phone call, specifically for Henderson, though the offer was just for a 2025 seventh-round pick to move down one spot. With New England wanting another running back to pair with Drake Maye, it elected to stand pat and select the national champion playmaker.
But the Texans' willingness to move up 20 spots must mean they were interested in one specific player. Ersery very well could have been the selection, but Henderson's pass-catching ability and downhill running style is exactly the type of play Caley was accustom to seeing during his time with the Los Angeles Rams.
Houston eventually targeted receiving threat Woody Marks in Round 4, giving up a future third-round pick to secure his services. He'll be a Day 1 contributor, but Henderson's arrival would mark not only another former C.J. Stroud teammate but also a long-term plan to replace Pro Bowler Joe Mixon after his contract expires in 2027.
But say Henderson wasn't the target. Who was? Could the Texans have been going after another receiver like Luther Burden III? LSU's Mason Taylor was rumored to be an option in the passing game, so could Houston have been targeting its next starting tight end?
Regardless, the Texans landed a starting-caliber offensive tackle without breaking the bank. New England received solid offers, but they liked Henderson so much that they passed on talent. They see him having a big role in their offense, and they were willing to turn down extra picks to ensure they got him.

Sports Seriously Former NBA standout DeMarcus Cousins was ejected from a game in Puerto Rico on Monday night after an altercation with a fan sitting courtside, exiting to a shower of beverages from angry onlookers. Cousins, a four-time All-Star center with the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans, was playing for the Guaynabo Mets in Puerto Rico's Baloncesto Superior Nacional league when he exchanged words with a spectator on the front row during a timeout. According to video posted to social media, Cousins made a crude gesture toward the man before slapping at him. Teammates quickly stepped between the two and held Cousins back. As he was being escorted off the court toward the locker room, Cousins got into a shouting match with hecklers, who proceeded to throw food and drinks at him, setting off another scuffle. Alex Bowman Speaks Out After Severe Michigan Wreck: 'It Gets Wild'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Alex Bowman has opened up on the massive crash during the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Michigan International Speedway that brought out the red flag. Five drivers were involved in the incident that caused Bowman to lose control of his car and crash head-on into the barriers. The incident occurred after a contact between the No. 2 and No. 41 cars, which then spilled onto the No. 99 and the No. 48. The No. 19 car wasn't spared either. Bowman, Daniel Suarez, Cole Custer, Austin Cindric, and Chase Briscoe were involved in the incident, and fortunately, all escaped unharmed. For Bowman, the incident was severe enough to knock him out of the race. Admitting that it was the hardest hit he ever had in a stock car, he told Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports: Alex Bowman, driver of the #48 Ally Chevrolet, looks on during the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Pit Road Qualifying Entry/Exit Practice (Open) at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 16, 2025 in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.... Alex Bowman, driver of the #48 Ally Chevrolet, looks on during the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Pit Road Qualifying Entry/Exit Practice (Open) at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 16, 2025 in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. More"It happened so fast that I didn't even see them. I didn't know who hit me until I saw the video. It's always turbulent in the 300th. It's crazy back there. It gets wild and that is part of racing. It's wild all through the field. "Unfortunately, the further back you get, the less downforce cars have, the dirtier the air, the situations you're in, and the worst everybody stuff drives. So stuff like this tends to happen." He added: "I feel okay. It was the biggest hit I've ever taken in a stock car by a mile. Head-on into the wall at Michigan, it's gonna be that way. Try to go get them next week." Alex Bowman said it always is turbulent in the pack at Michigan and he is OK after what he said was the hardest hit he has ever had in a stock car. @NASCARONFOX — Bob Pockrass (@bobpockrass) June 8, 2025 Bowman wasn't the only Hendrick Motorsports driver to suffer a setback. William Byron, who led the race for 98 laps, lost the lead to Denny Hamlin after running out of fuel when there were just four laps to go. He finished the race in 28th place after refueling. Speaking to Sports on Prime after the disappointing race finish, Byron said: "We didn't have enough. We were going to run out with a lap and a half left, we did run out with a lap and a half left. I was trying to manage both [and] manage the gap and save [gas]. It sucks, it really stings. Not able to do much about that. It is what it is." Running out of gas was the detriment for @WilliamByron today. #NASCARonPrime — Sports on Prime (@SportsonPrime) June 8, 2025 FireKeepers Casino 400 Cup Series Race Results 1. Denny Hamlin 2. New York Giants legend Bill Parcells to be inducted into Patriots Hall of Fame

New York Giants legend Bill Parcells to be inducted into Patriots Hall of Fame Legendary New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells will soon add to the long list of honors that currently line his resume. In addition to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Giants Ring of Honor, Parcells will be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Saturday, September 20 at 4:00 p.m. ET on the Patriot Place Plaza. Parcells served as head coach of the Patriots from 1993 to 1996, helping restore credibility and competitive success to a struggling franchise. Inheriting a team that had gone 14-50 over the previous four seasons, including an NFL worst 2-14 season in 1992 and 1-15 season in 1990, Parcells made an immediate impact. In 1994, he led the Patriots on a season-ending seven-game win streak to secure their first playoff berth in eight years. The performance earned Parcells NFL Coach of the Year honors. After finishing 6-10 in 1995, the Patriots rebounded with an 11-win season in 1996, tying the then franchise record for wins and earning their first division title in a decade. After a convincing, 28-3, victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional playoff game in foggy Foxborough, the Patriots hosted their first AFC Championship game and defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 20-6, to reach Super Bowl XXXI, marking just the second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. Parcells was a Patriots Hall of Fame finalist five times (2011, 2012, 2014, 2020 and 2023) before his 2025 induction. A Pro Football Hall of Famer (Class of 2013), Parcells is the only head coach in NFL history to lead four different teams to the playoffs and three different teams to a conference championship game. He is also a member of the Patriots 1990s All-Decade Team. Although Parcells' career success transcends what he did with the Giants, he is most well-known for his time as linebackers coach (1981-1982), defensive coordinator (1979, 1981-1982), and head coach (1983-1991) of Big Blue. During his time with the Giants, Parcells led the team to two Super Bowl championships, including their first ever (1986). He was also named Pro Football Weekly NFL Coach of the Year, The Sporting News NFL Coach of the Year, and AP NFL Coach of the Year that season. Parcells will be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame alongside wide receiver Julian Edelman.
