Guernsey sees 15,000 journeys over bank holiday
About 15,000 people travelled in and out of Guernsey over the May bank holiday weekend, according to Guernsey Ports.The organisation, which runs Guernsey's airport and harbours, said about 8,000 people flew in or out of the island between Friday and Monday.Meanwhile, 7,000 passengers passed through the island's harbours, a 14% increase compared to the same time last year.The weekend also saw an airline returning to Guernsey, with Scottish operator Loganair launching a new Edinburgh route.
James Underwood, from Guernsey Ports, said the weekly service complimented "the existing midweek services operated by [Guernsey airline] Aurigny".Guernsey Ports was "focused on increasing travel options for people locally and promoting Guernsey as a destination for visiting travellers", he added.Loganair previously operated routes in and out of Guernsey until 2019.

A MAJOR bank is giving away £180 free cash - here is how you can get your hands on it. Santander has launched a new switching incentive to lure customers. 1 The bank is offering the cash to new customers who open an eligible current account with the high street lender. That includes the bank's fee free Everyday Current Account. As part of the deal, customers will receive £180 within 90 days of making the switch. But there are some requirements to get the cash. For starters, customers need to pay £1,500 into the account within 60 days. This does not have to be deposited all at once. Customers must also set up two active household Direct Debits on the new account. This can include your council tax, mobile phone, home phone, broadband, paid-for TV packages, water, gas and electricity bills. Current Account Switch Service (CASS). CASS helps people switch their current accounts by handling the move for free, including moving balances and payments to the new account and closing the old one. It is a free service and helps move customers' balance, direct debits and salary over in seven days. Switch bank accounts for free perks Existing Santander customers may also be eligible for the free cash. Meanwhile, Nationwide is giving existing customers a £100 cash boost. This is part of Nationwide's Fairer Share programme, which set out to reward customers who bank with the lender or meet certain lending criteria. SWITCHING bank accounts is a simple process and can usually be done through the Current Account Switch Service (CASS). Shropshire festival celebrates the world of van life culture
Fans of camper vans, caravans and "van life culture" in general have gathered to celebrate this weekend in tents to motor homes and trucks to caravans, 5,000 people are attending the Vanlife Festival at the West Mid Showground in is the third time the festival has been held in the town to bring together everyone who loves the outdoors and Ruth Jones said people from all walks of life visited the festival and shared stories about their travels around the world. "Some people have travelled all around Australia and others have lived in their vans for more than 30 years," she said. A range of performances are featured at the festival including acts like Metz Jnr, Frankie Roe and The is also a large display of more than 100 classic camper vans and caravans beginning from the 1960s in the festival's Field of Inspiring Dreams."You can see what set-up people have and have a cup of tea with the owners, some even have parrots and cats," Ruth Jones added that the displays brought some people to tears as the caravans reminded them of childhood camping with their families. Damo Jones and Terry Smith founded the festival after meeting at camper van shows and wanted to create an inclusive event where every make and model of vehicle was Mr Jones and his wife Ruth started travelling with a tent at the age of 18, they would look "in envy" at people with camper vans."We would meet friends by inviting people around the campfire and we wanted people to feel involved from all walks of life," Ms Jones couple later managed to save up and purchase a van of their own and have been camper van owners for the past 20 years. They have brought the campfire vibes to the festival by introducing faux campfires that everyone can sit around to share stories and get to know one another.
