Pernas Channels Over RM3.4 Mln In Financing To Franchise Entrepreneurs In Kelantan
KOTA BHARU, June 21 (Bernama) -- Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas) has, since last year, channelled more than RM3.4 million in financing to franchise entrepreneurs in Kelantan, including participants of the Business In Transformation (BIT) programme.
Pernas chairman Datuk Mohamed Rozhan Mohd Ghazalli said the agency remained committed to guiding and empowering franchise entrepreneurs nationwide, in line with the mandate given to him to elevate Malaysia's franchise industry to the global stage.
'Pernas is tasked with spearheading the development of the franchise industry in Malaysia and empowering the local entrepreneurial community to become more competitive and sustainable.
'This commitment reflects Pernas' determination to empower franchise entrepreneurs from the grassroots up, enabling them to expand to both national and international levels,' he said.
He said this in his speech at the launch of the BizFrancais Programme Tour Series held here today, which was also attended by Pernas chief executive officer Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib.
Elaborating, Mohamed Rozhan said the Kelantan BizFrancais Programme 2025 brought together nearly 30 exhibitors, including government agencies, franchisors, pre-franchisors, and entrepreneurs under Pernas' Xcelerator and BIT programmes.
'The BizFrancais 2025 tour series kicks off in Kelantan and will continue in other states such as Sarawak, Sabah and Johor later this year.
'Pernas has guided over 50 franchise and pre-franchise entrepreneurs from the East Coast through various initiatives, including business development and financing programmes,' he said.
One of the recipients, Nik Aloesniha Nik Mohd Alwi, 46, who operates the women's fitness centre franchise 'Curves', said she was thankful for the RM330,000 in financing, which helped her establish the business and expand access to fitness facilities for women on the East Coast.

KOTA BARU: The government is exploring new markets for Malaysia's palm oil in an effort to reduce the nation's reliance on major exporting markets affected by geopolitical conflicts. Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said the ongoing Israel-Iran crisis and the Russia-Ukraine conflict have disrupted export shipments to certain zones. He said planters and operators must work with the government to address challenges at the international level. "The European market is increasingly emphasising environmental sustainability and biodiversity-friendly practices in palm oil procurement. "To enter their markets, we must prove that our plantations meet their standards, comply with sustainability principles and preserve biodiversity," he said. Johari said that providing good service and meeting buyer requirements should be a priority to help turn new buyers into long-term customers. Japan To Provide Defence Equipment To Thailand, 7 Other Nations
TOKYO, June 21 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- Japan plans to supply defence equipment to Thailand, Tonga and six other nations in the current fiscal year as security aid, a government source said Friday, in bid to ensure safe sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific region where China is evolving its military posture. According to Kyodo news agency the eight countries -- also including East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and Sri Lanka -- are expected to be designated as the recipients of Japan's "official security assistance" (OSA) framework, designed for like-minded partners, for fiscal 2025 from April, the source said. The government is considering providing them Japanese-made drones to help in their natural disaster relief and maritime surveillance missions, according to the source.

And on Saturday, she notched up a big step in her career after launching the music video of her latest single 'Luar Biasa' which is composed by ace Indonesian producer Ade Govinda. Speaking to reporters at a press conference after launching the music video Fazura, 41, said the lawsuit against her company is a confidential matter and has been handed over to her lawyers for further action. Fazura, who is also a singer and television host, said she preferred not to comment further as it involves two separate entities. "Honestly, there's nothing I can explain because we have to understand that I, Fazura, and the company are two different entities.
