Vikings named as 'best fit' for SEC safety on day two of the NFL Draft
The Minnesota Vikings retained much of their secondary in free agency. They brought back Harrison Smith and Byron Murphy, Jr., while also extending fourth-year safety Theo Jackson, likely counting on him to have an expanded role in 2025. The Vikings also added cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, expecting him to continue to grow into an every-down player.
But they could still look to add to players with versatility and youth. Smith, 36, could be playing his final season in 2025. Even if the Vikings want him to play as much as possible, having another player to give him occasional rest could only help.
Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus believes the Vikings could look to add Texas safety Andrew Mukuba in the third round to do just that.
As it stands, Minnesota's only pick on Day 2 falls in the compensatory range of the third round, limiting the team's options. However, the Vikings can nab a safety with excellent coverage instincts like Mukuba to replenish a secondary hit hard in free agency. At Texas in his final season, the senior snagged six interceptions, contributing to his 89.7 PFF coverage grade — second highest in this year's safety class.
Mukuba has experience playing in the slot, deep safety, and box. In 2024, 508 of his 712 total defensive snaps came at deep safety. But he primarily played slot in 2023 after splitting reps almost 50/50 in 2022 at deep safety and slot.
His versatility and production could make him a prime candidate for Brian Flores' defense if he's still available when the Vikings are on the clock at pick 97.

Texas A&M is reportedly the 'frontrunner' for elite 2026 4-star wide receiver

Texas A&M is reportedly the 'frontrunner' for elite 2026 4-star wide receiver Two of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class will take an official visit to College Station this weekend, as five-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and five-star OL/DL Lamar Brown represents the two most essential prospects for coach Mike Elko and his staff that will make their final decision early next month. In terms of predictions, nothing has been clear regarding both prospects 'favorite landing spots over the past month, as Brown's recent OVs to Miami and Texas have shaken things up, while Feaster's recent OV to USC could complicate things moving forward. Still, it's impossible to ever keep the Aggies out of contention after several 2026 commits shut down their recruitment, combined with landing 2026 four-star safety Chance Collins over Texas Tech. However, according to On3, Texas A&M is now the front-runner to land Feaster and remains in great shape to secure four-star running back KJ Edwards, four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck, and three-star quarterback Kaeden Johnson. The fact that Feaster is still a favorite to land in College Station speaks volumes regarding Elko's ability to recruit elite wide receiver prospects compared to former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Yes, OC Collin Klein and WR coach Holmon Wiggins also deserve credit, but it starts at the top, especially battling the likes of LSU, USC, Texas, and Alabama. From a production standpoint, Featster has delivered impressive statistics that align with his recruiting expectations. He wrapped up his 2024 sophomore season with a personal best of 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Throughout two varsity seasons, Feaster has amassed 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is currently positioned as the 44th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 5th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Texas. Tennessee Titans' JC Latham named to PFF's All-Breakout Team for 2025

The Tennessee Titans are banking on a big year from offensive tackle JC Latham as he enters his second season. Despite spending his first NFL campaign holding down the left side of the offensive line, it's expected that Latham will switch back over to right tackle with the arrival of Dan Moore Jr., who was signed to a four-year deal worth $82 million this offseason. Latham had a solid rookie campaign working at the blindside spot for the Titans despite the overall inefficiencies on the offensive side of the ball. Going into his second season, Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus believes Latham is primed for a breakout season. After a 2024 first round that witnessed the selection of seven true tackles, that tantalizing talent didn't immediately pay off: Only Joe Alt finished with an overall PFF grade above 66.5 in his first season. Still, the odds are high that multiple other members of that second-year tackle crop will make leaps in 2025, and Latham has to be a foremost candidate. In his first season with the Titans, Latham finished with a 61.8 overall PFF grade, but his pass protection was more solid to the tune of a 67.8 PFF pass-blocking grade. Considering that Latham was playing out of position at left tackle and along a unit that finished 30th in overall PFF grade, it hedges the results of his rookie campaign. The Alabama product played the fourth-most snaps at left tackle during the 2024 season, allowing seven sacks and 47 total pressures. Considering what the Titans had to work with under center last season, the left tackle job was never going to be an easy one. With Cam Ward now taking the reins as the franchise quarterback, a breakout campaign from Latham at right tackle would be a major boost for the Titans offense.
