US Thanks Saudi Arabia for Hosting Crucial Jeddah Talks with Ukraine
Email :
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for hosting the pivotal talks between the United States and Ukraine in Jeddah, aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict with Russia. In a joint press briefing with US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Rubio thanked the Kingdom for its instrumental role in facilitating the dialogue.
"I want to personally thank – we both want to thank – the team in Saudi Arabia, his majesty, for hosting us and making this possible. They've been instrumental in this process and we're very grateful to them for hosting us here today," Rubio said during the press conference.
The discussions led to significant developments, with the US planning to present a ceasefire proposal to Moscow in hopes of securing its approval. "And hopefully we'll take this offer now to the Russians, and we hope that they'll say yes, that they'll say yes to peace. The ball is now in their court," Rubio stated.
Ukraine has expressed its support for the US proposal to declare a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia, with Washington agreeing to immediately lift the suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv, according to a joint statement released on Tuesday.
The US Department of State confirmed that the Jeddah meeting achieved important steps towards peace, with Ukraine agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire if Russia complies with the terms.
Saudi Arabia hosted the talks under the direction of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, with Ukrainian officials led by Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office, and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The talks were also attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban.
In a statement released by the Saudi Council of Ministers, the Kingdom welcomed the commencement of the peace talks, highlighting the Kingdom's balanced approach to international relations and its role in promoting global security. The Council emphasized Saudi Arabia's commitment to dialogue as the most effective means of conflict resolution, underscoring its leadership in fostering peaceful solutions in international conflicts.

Russia Launches Massive Air Strikes on Kyiv, Hits Maternity Ward in Odesa
Russia carried out one of its most intense air strikes on Kyiv in over three years of war, launching overnight attacks that also targeted a maternity ward in the southern city of Odesa, Ukrainian officials confirmed on Tuesday. At least two people were killed in the strikes, which came just a day after Russia launched its largest drone assault of the war, marking a significant escalation in its ongoing military campaign. According to Ukrainian authorities, the bombardments were part of a broader wave of retaliatory attacks by Moscow, which claims it is responding to recent Ukrainian strikes inside Russian territory. 'These attacks are a cruel and deliberate attempt to spread fear,' said a senior Ukrainian defense official. 'Striking medical facilities and residential areas violates every standard of international law.' Air raid sirens echoed throughout Kyiv as multiple explosions were heard across the capital in the early hours. Air defense systems were activated, and emergency services responded to several impact sites. In Odesa, the targeted maternity ward sustained structural damage, though no casualties were reported among patients or staff at the facility. However, nearby buildings were hit, resulting in civilian fatalities. The renewed wave of Russian aggression underscores the fragile and increasingly volatile nature of the conflict, as both sides brace for further escalations in the coming weeks.

Kyiv and Odesa Suffer Heavy Strikes in One of Russia's Largest Attacks on Capital
Ukraine woke to the sound of explosions as Kyiv and Odesa were targeted in a massive overnight assault by Russian forces, involving a barrage of ballistic missiles and Shahed drones. In what President Volodymyr Zelensky described as "one of the largest attacks on Kyiv during the full-scale war," air defense systems lit up the skies over the capital in the early hours of June 10. Residents across Kyiv reported hearing multiple explosions as drones and missiles were intercepted overhead. Local authorities confirmed four people were injured in Kyiv as debris from intercepted projectiles fell across different districts. The attack also took a grim toll in Odesa, where two men were killed and at least eight civilians were wounded. Another individual was treated for shock, according to officials. President Zelensky condemned the attack in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, highlighting the disconnect between global peace efforts and Russia's continued aggression. 'Russian missile and Shahed strikes drown out the efforts of the United States and others around the world to force Russia into peace,' he wrote. 'For yet another night, instead of a ceasefire, there were massive strikes with Shahed drones, cruise and ballistic missiles.' Kyiv Independent journalists on the ground confirmed the scale of the assault, reporting relentless drone activity and numerous blasts echoing through the city. The overnight bombardment is the latest in a series of escalating attacks on Ukrainian cities, as Russian forces intensify pressure ahead of critical international talks.

MP Ahmed Al Salloom has praised the smooth running of this year's Hajj, calling it 'a mark of pride for Muslims everywhere'. Crowds were managed with care, and pilgrims approached the rituals calmly and without trouble. The scale of preparation, he said, was striking. The credit, he added, lay with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Al Salloom, Chairman of Parliament's financial committee, thanked Bahrain's leadership for helping its pilgrims. Royal guidance He thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, saying their guidance and steady oversight helped ensure pilgrims from Bahrain received what they needed to carry out the rituals calmly and without trouble. He also praised King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their care for the pilgrims. The transport, shelters, and the helping hands, he said, showed just how much had been put in to ease the strain on those making the journey. He credited Bahrain's Hajj mission. Staff kept a close eye on local pilgrims and worked closely with other bodies. It showed a strong sense of duty and teamwork, he said. Al Salloom said the results spoke plainly. From Saudi planning to Bahraini support, the cooperation was clear. And behind it all, he added, was one shared aim, to serve the pilgrims and honour the faith.
