Tasmanian newsreader Louise Houbaer leaves screens after Seven West Media restructure
A Tasmanian newsreader has shared a heartfelt statement after her role became redundant in a Seven West Media restructure. TV anchor Louise Houbaer made her final broadcast for 7 Tasmania News on Friday after reporting for the network for more than eight years. The restructure would have meant a move from Hobart to Launceston in the state's north. Ms Houbaer said she adored her job which she had poured her heart and soul into and was incredibly sad to be leaving the newsdesk and her remarkable team. 'But, as is often the case in media, 'restructure' has become part of the conversation,' she said. 'News operations in Tassie are evolving, and due to technical changes, my Hobart-based role is no longer tenable for the company. 'As much as I love Launnie (and the rest of this beautiful state!), unfortunately I can't uproot my young family to continue in the role.' Ms Houbaer received plenty of praise from colleagues, friends and viewers wishing the TV veteran well after a stellar career at the network. 'Say it isn't so!!! Im so sad reading this, you bring a beautiful presence to the screen and everyone that you meet! Here's to your next big adventure where you will be adored and appreciated by all again,' one person commented. 'How lucky we are to have been able to have you for so long,' another person said. 'Have thoroughly enjoyed having you in our lounge room every weekend. We will miss your smiling face,' a person said.
