Wales Online5 days ago

The Scarlets are looking to cause an upset as they take on URC leaders Leinster in the west Walian's first play-off appearance in seven years this afternoon.
Dwayne Peel's side reached the play-offs for the first time since 2018 after finishing in the top eight. However, they will travel to Dublin today as underdogs.
Leinster topped the league, losing just twice in the regular season. However, one of those losses was against the Scarlets in Llanelli in April.
The Scarlets are without Gareth Davies as they name an unchanged 23 from their last match against the Sharks in Durban.
As for Leinster, they're missing Ireland centres Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose, and British and Irish Lions prop Tadhg Furlong.
However, they can still call upon New Zealand centre Jordie Barrett, with the star-studded side led by Lions number eight Jack Conan, while Ireland hooker Dan Sheehan and South Africa lock RG Snyman are among the replacements.
Kick-off is at 3pm, with the match being broadcast on BBC One Wales and Premier Sports 1. You can follow the match in the live blog below.

Grealish's angry reaction to being left out of Man City's Club World Cup squad

Jack Grealish is set to miss out on Manchester City's Club World Cup squad and is frustration appeared evident in a comment he made on social media with his future unclear Jack Grealish has issued a telling response to his Manchester City situation with the playmaker due to be left out of the squad that will head to the Club World Cup this summer. The Premier League side are set to head to FIFA's newly expanded tournament without their £100million man - seemingly pushing him closer to the exit door. Pep Guardiola is due to take all of his big names, but Grealish won't make the cut. ‌ He has tumbled down the pecking order in Manchester, which has fuelled links of a move away, and missing out this summer could prove to be the final nail in the coffin. ‌ Former Aston Villa frontman Gabby Agbonlahor has hit out at the treatment Grealish has been subjected to by the City boss - with talkSPORT claiming he was "not happy" in a post. One fan claimed Guardiola was well within his rights given Grealish's form. That caught his attention and the 29-year-old responded: "Haha I've been bad lately? Scored three goals in my last three appearances over 45 mins but okie dokie love x." He also added: "What u want me to do, score a hatty in 20?" There is likely to be interest from clubs in England and throughout Europe with Grealish accepting that a fresh start at a top club, where he can play regular football, may be in his best interests. He is desperate to regain his spot with the Three Lions after missing out on recent squads and last summer's Euros. City have already been active in the market and have agreed a deal worth £46.3m to sign AC Milan's Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. They are also in talks to sign Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki - both men would further hamper Grealish's game time. Grealish joined City in 2021 for a then-British record fee and remains the club's most expensive player of all time. He played a key part in the Treble-winning side back in 2023. He has claimed three Premier League titles with the club, but his influence has gradually declined. Guardiola said recently: "Of course, Jack has to play. He's an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn't happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it - with us or another place. It's a question for Jack, his agent, and the club. If he stays it will be fine and he fought like he fought from day one to make a contribution."

The veteran goalkeeper is in his second spell at Tynecastle Park and remains No.1 at the age of 42. He will welcome former club Sunderland to Edinburgh on Saturday, 26 July, for a friendly game which is sure to prove popular with supporters. Gordon emerged from the Hearts youth academy to make his senior debut in 2001, and thereafter established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. He was sold to Sunderland in a £9m deal in 2007, a British record for a keeper at that time. He spent six years at Celtic between 2014 and 2020 before returning to Hearts, the team he has supported since childhood. He is also their most-capped Scotland internationalist and record European appearance holder. He currently holds 81 Scotland caps but is not in the squad for this week's friendlies against Iceland and Liechtenstein as he recovers from a shoulder injury. Both Gordon and Hearts are hopeful that he will be fit in time to play in the testimonial game. 'It's a great honour to be granted a testimonial year with the club that I grew up supporting, the club I have given my all for, the club that I love,' the goalkeeper told his club's website. 'Throughout my career I've won trophies, played at the highest level and represented my country, but what fills me with pride the most is pulling on that Hearts jersey and walking out in front of our fans. To be able to share a testimonial year with our supporters is very special to me. Sunderland and EPL memories for Hearts and Scotland keeper 'It's also particularly pleasing to look forward to welcoming Sunderland to Tynecastle. I enjoyed some great times at the Stadium of Light and they hold a special place in my heart. I extend my thanks to everyone on my testimonial committee for all of their hard work, and the club for their support, in organising what I hope will be an enjoyable testimonial year for our magnificent supporters. Without their backing, I would not have been able to achieve what I have in my career and for that I am forever grateful.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad In a statement announcing the start of Gordon's testimonial year, Hearts said: 'On behalf of his committee, we are delighted to announce Craig Gordon's testimonial year. Craig's contribution to Heart of Midlothian Football Club, where he has earned legendary status with 330 appearances across two spells, will be acknowledged with a series of testimonial events over the next 12 months. 'The first of these events will be a glamour testimonial match against English side Sunderland at Tynecastle Park. Recently promoted to the Premier League, the Black Cats – who Craig turned out for between 2007 and 2012 - will travel to Gorgie on Saturday, July 26th for a 3pm kick-off. Ticket details and hospitality packages will be announced in due course. 'Club captain, Hearts' record European appearance holder with more than 100 maroon clean sheets to his name, Craig is also fourth in Scotland's roll of honour. More events will soon be added to Craig's testimonial calendar. Supporters can keep up to date with all of the latest news by checking out

Leinster 'the benchmark' but Glasgow have momentum, says McKay

Josh McKay is taking confidence from the commanding win over Stormers as Glasgow look to unseat top seeds Leinster on Saturday and reach the URC Smith's side head to Dublin to face the title favourites after keeping their defence of the trophy alive by bouncing back from three straight defeats with a 36-18 victory over Stormers at Scotstoun last weekend."That performance on Friday night was arguably one of the best of the team this season," said winger McKay."There's plenty we can take from that game, both on the good side and also what we can work on as well."We didn't build heaps of phases. Our discipline was a little bit poor and we'd probably like to have a little bit more ball."But it was definitely positive. We were able to put a few moves together and do enough to get the job done. It was a massive game in front of our home crowd."McKay knows Leinster have "been the benchmark" in the URC this season but insists Warriors are capable of defying the odds."Leinster away is a big game. We see a lot of teams go over there and struggle. I guess it's a credit to what they've built over many years," he added."They've got a hugely deep squad and they show every year that they can go deep into these competitions."We know what's ahead of us. We just need to front up with the right mindset. That's huge. If we can turn up and be where we want to be physically, we respect what they bring and we know what they bring, but we've got to focus on ourselves."
