Marcus Rashford's latest Man Utd exit route as striker deemed too expensive
Manchester United continue to seek more firepower and could yet find it in Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku whilst Marcus Rashford continues to eye a new home after his loan ended
Manchester United are edging towards a second summer deal as they close in on an agreement to land Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. The Cameroonian would be the second forward to move to Old Trafford.
Matheus Cunha has already arrived from Wolves and Cunha could follow for around the same price, which would take United's spending to over £100million. Ruben Amorim knows he needs a massive transfer window if he is to turn things around in Manchester.
He is also looking to trim his squad and has a number of returning players who need to have their futures resolved. Marcus Rashford is back from his Aston Villa loan stint with plenty of noise surrounding his future. Antony has also returned from Spain.
Chelsea opted against making Jadon Sancho 's loan a permanent switch and Alejandro Garnacho continues to frustrate the club's bosses and could be moved on. Here's the latest news coming out of Old Trafford.
Newcastle join Rashford race
Newcastle are showing strong interest in Rashford this summer with Caught Offside claiming the Magpies are making 'serious moves' to sign him as they look to bolster their squad ahead of another season in the Champions League.
Rashford had been eyeing up a move for Barcelona, but that may fail to materialise as they consider other options. Newcastle are keen on ex-United man Antony Elanga but if they can't secure the Nottingham Forest winger then Rashford is on their radar.
Eddie Howe would keen on a loan deal for Rashford, but that may be the sticking point with Manchester bosses wanting an end to the saga. As a result they may seek a permanent exit rather than another loan - leaving them to deal with a similar situation in 12 months time.
Nkunku exit update
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has opened the door for Christopher Nkunku to leave the club this summer with those on the red side of Manchester said to be interested in the forward as they eye more options in the final third.
Nkunku has struggled for regular game time since joining the Blues from RB Leipzig two years ago and when asked about the player's future, Maresca said: "If Christo is here with us, it is because we think he can help us and he can be with us even next season. But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players.
"And then if something is going to happen, I don't know because we said many times when the transfer window is open, anything can happen in terms of players that can arrive or players that can leave."
Inter remain keen on Hojlund
Gazzetta dello Sport claim Inter Milan are in constant contact with the Red Devils regarding a potential move for Rasmus Hojlund this summer. The Dane struggled in front of goal last season and United could cash in on the 22-year-old, which could help fund their summer business.
Inter are closing in on a deal to sign Parma's Ange-Yoan Bonny, but the Champions League finalists are still ready to go after Hojlund. United's asking price of is thought to be around £38m, but that is more than the Italian wants to pay so they could propose a loan deal with an option or conditional obligation to buy.

Two Liverpool deals confirmed as Alexander Isak requirement revealed
Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market and have seen two deals confirmed in the last 24 hours as they look to strengthen Arne Slot's squad to retain the Premier League title Liverpool have added another player to their ranks with Milos Kerkez finally confirmed as Arne Slot's newest star. The full-back completed a £40million deal to join the club from Bournemouth. Following Florian Wirtz through the door, Kerkez signed a five-year deal at Anfield. The transfer takes the Reds' spending up to £170m since the end of the season. And the club remain hard at work shaping Slot's squad. The club are persistently linked to signing a new forward as Darwin Nunez's future appears to lie away from the club. The Uruguay striker is drawing interest from Italy with Liverpool happy to part ways after the ex-Benfica star failed to break into his head coach's starting XI plans. And Nunez may not be alone in leaving the club with uncertainty around the likes of Federico Chiesa, Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott. Kerkez explains Reds move Speaking after his move was completed, Milos Kerkez revealed Liverpool was the only club he wanted to join and detailed the prominent role Richard Hughes played, in addition to Arne Slot, in the move. "As everyone knows, [Richard Hughes] brought me to Bournemouth and was [a] big part why I came to Bournemouth," he said. "Obviously also [important] is the gaffer – I also had talks with him. I really knew when I talked to him and Richard that this is it for me, so that was my decision. 'We [he and Slot] talked about the tactics and the plan and where he sees where I can improve and where I can help the team. Obviously when [the] coach comes also and talks to you, it's a big thing, it's a big sign of respect. 'For me, there were no second doubts then that I want to go somewhere else. It was always Liverpool.' Loan deal confirmed Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davies has joined Crawley Town on a season-long loan. The shotstopper, 21, spent time on loan at Crewe Alexander in 2023/24 but has not yet made a senior appearance for the Reds. Davies, who has been involved in 18 matchday sqauds, has been with the club since the under-9 level and signed a new deal before he joined up with the League Two side. I am really happy to be here," Davies said, "I had some great conversations with people at the club and they made me feel wanted and welcomed me in. "I had a really good chat with the manager who presented really well to me and said that he wanted me, so it made the decision very easy." Isak conversation start A £150m offer may be required to even get Newcastle United to engage in a conversation over Alexander Isak per the Athletic. Liverpool are said to hold an interest in the striker who has proven himself vital to the Magpies in recent seasons. The Sweden international still has three years on his contract, though a new deal is expected to be on the horizon if Newcastle can prove persuasive. Isak's future would have been more uncertain if not for the club securing their place in the Champions League and earning silverware in the Carabao Cup. The reports suggests Liverpool may attempt to sway player and club into a deal, but expressed caution over the possibility of success. Isak is a the centre of Newcastle's project under PIF's ownership.

‘I still have shards in my leg', says ex-Rangers supremo Sir David Murray as he breaks 50-year silence on car crash hell
Sir David Murray is speaking in detail about the nightmare for the first time 'THE UNTOLD STORY' 'I still have shards in my leg', says ex-Rangers supremo Sir David Murray as he breaks 50-year silence on car crash hell SIR David Murray has revealed how he still has shards in his leg from the wreckage of the sports car that nearly killed him in a horror crash almost half a century ago. The ex-Rangers owner was just 24 when he had both legs amputated after the flash motor careered into a tree following a tyre blow-out in 1976. Advertisement 10 Sir David Murray has broken his decades long silence on his horror car crash 10 Ex-Rangers owner pictured with then-manager Walter Smith Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 10 Sir David Murray shared the details in his new book, Mettle Despite the horrific accident, he refused to let the ordeal define him and went on to become a towering figure in Scottish society through his metals business and Ibrox tenure. But everything could have been very different had medics not been able to save his life after he crashed near Longniddry, East Lothian, while driving home in his purple Lotus Elite after playing rugby. Speaking in detail about the nightmare for the first time in new book Mettle: Tragedy, Courage & Titles , he said: 'As I made my way along a dual carriageway, the front left tyre just blew. 'There was nothing I could have done. Advertisement 'The car lurched to the side, I left the road and smashed headlong into a tree. 'Memories of the exact moment are hazy. 'The vehicle was made of fibreglass and the impact forced the engine block right through the facia and into the driver and passenger seat. 'I was immediately shunted right through the door and lay unconscious and bleeding next to the wreckage. Advertisement 'A number of rugby supporters who had actually been at the game stopped their cars and raced to my side. 'There was lots of blood and they applied tourniquets with their ties to try to halt the flow. 'They somehow kept me alive and even though I can remember nothing about it, an ambulance was called and arrived quickly to take me 18 miles to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.' 10 A newspaper clipping from the time of Sir David's horror crash Advertisement 10 Sir David had his legs amputated following the crash Credit: Times Newspapers Ltd 10 The ex-Rangers supremo was able to phone his late wife Louise to tell her he was 'in a bad way' Despite his life hanging in the balance, Sir David was able to phone his late wife Louise from a payphone while on a hospital trolley and said 'you have to come. I'm in a bad way.' Incredibly, he lost 13 pints of blood on the first evening and medics immediately amputated parts of his 'mangled' legs through the knees. Advertisement Tragically, he then caught an infection which forced the docs to take off even more of his shattered limbs. He said: 'Louise, my family and friends took turns to sit by my bedside during the following days as I struggled to recover. 'The anaesthetist Ned Trench and a surgeon fought to give me a better chance of a partial recovery, but five days after the accident they were finally defeated after an infection set in. 'I ended up having a further nine inches of my legs removed.' Incredibly, Sir David said he still has some of the purple bodywork from his Lotus embedded in his upper limb - and the tree that took the brunt of the crash also still has the marks almost 50 years on. He said: 'How that tree is still standing I don't know, but remarkably it is. I recently stopped at the same spot again and nearly 50 years after the accident, there are still marks on the base of the tree. 'Equally amazingly, there are also still purple shards of the car's bodywork embedded in my upper leg. 'Revisiting the scene much, much later, I realised that just a few yards before the tree and a few yards after it, there was nothing but open fields.' Advertisement After he was stabilised, Sir David - who was once estimated to have a £500m fortune - was transferred to the Princess Margaret Rose Hospital in Edinburgh for ten weeks of intensive care. 'If anyone I know is ever in trouble or facing adversity, I always tell them that every problem has a solution and to always look ahead. 'Be decisive. Stay positive. I had no intention of quitting.' Sir David, 73, became a millionaire with company Murray International Metals and purchased Rangers for £6million in 1988. Advertisement INSPIRATIONAL LETTER AN inspirational letter from hero World War II pilot Sir Douglas Bader helped in the ex-Rangers chief's remarkable recovery from his double amputation hell. Sir Douglas wrote to the then 24-year-old Sir David as he faced up to a lifetime without his limbs following the horror crash in 1976. He still treasures the note sent to him out of the blue nearly 50 years ago and has it framed in his home. Bader was a highly decorated flyer during WW2 despite losing his legs during aerobatics in 1931. The letter read: ''I gather that you have got hold of the problem and decided to get on with life which is the only thing to do. 'Well done. 'That is the only attitude of mind to adopt. 'I just wanted to write to you and tell you how much I admire your courage and to wish you well.' Sir David added: 'I would later telephone the number he had left at the top of his letter to thank him for his encouragement and tell him exactly what it meant to me… and still does. 'Almost two months earlier, I had what Douglas Bader might enthusiastically have described as a rather miraculous escape. It was certainly life-changing.' Under his stewardship, the club embarked on a period of unparalleled success with iconic managers Graeme Souness and Walter Smith - and fan favourites Paul Gascoigne and Brian Laudrup. He was also instrumental in the club smashing their sectarian signing policy by buying their first high profile Catholic player Mo Johnston from under Celtic's noses in 1989. Sir David faced further tragedy in his personal life when beloved first wife Louise - mum to their sons David and Keith - died from cancer in 1992. Dad Ian was also locked up for a spell before dying at 50.
