RAS Mains aspirants seek to postpone exam
Jaipur: Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) mains examination candidates are requesting a postponement of the test scheduled on June 17-18. They organised a foot march in the city Tuesday to voice their demands.
The applicants pointed out that the interviews for RAS 2023 are currently in progress, with the final results yet to be announced. They argued that holding the RAS main 2025 examination before publishing the previous examination's results could result in candidate overlap, as numerous individuals are still awaiting their outcomes. "Candidates who are already waiting for their results from RAS 2023 sat for the prelims this year and will once again sit for RAS Mains, which will add to duplications.
Firstly, the RAS exam was announced in 2023, and prelims took place in 2024, which was already delayed. Now results have also not been issued, and RAS 2025 is being conducted. While exams should be conducted timely, the same applies to results," said Deepak Kaushal, an RAS aspirant.
Candidates added that those who were unsuccessful in the RAS 2023 Main Exam have not yet received the answer sheet from RPSC, due to which they are unable to evaluate themselves and prepare accordingly for future exams.

Candidates further said that this year the "shortest time" has been given for the main examination in RAS 2025, as the exam is being conducted within four months of the RAS prelims, conducted in February this year. "It is not possible to cover 25-30 subjects in three to four months. Candidates are usually given six months for preparation after prelims. The preparation of many candidates from border districts of the state also got affected due to the blackout imposed as security measures for Operation Sindoor," said Lakshya Pratap Singh, another RAS aspirant.

Mock drills are back
New Delhi: India is set to hold civil defence mock drills on Thursday across four states bordering Pakistan -- Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. The drills aim to test emergency response coordination and civilian evacuation strategies in case of cross-border hostilities or terror-related incidents. Government officials said the exercise would involve local civil defence teams, police, disaster response units, and medical staff. The drill is intended to test emergency response coordination, civilian evacuation protocols, and inter-agency communication in case of cross-border hostilities or terrorist incidents. The mock drill comes just weeks after India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6–7, a retaliatory strike reportedly targeting terror camps and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation was a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. India's counter-attack prompted Pakistan to launch its strikes on Indian military sites and urban areas. In response, India hit at least nine Pakistani air bases, including radar and air defence units. After several days of high-intensity action, Pakistan requested a ceasefire, which India accepted on May 10. The Haryana government is also set to conduct a major state-wide civil defence exercise named 'Operation Shield,' on May 29, across all 22 districts from 5 pm onwards to enhance the state's emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
