RAS Mains aspirants seek to postpone exam
Jaipur: Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) mains examination candidates are requesting a postponement of the test scheduled on June 17-18. They organised a foot march in the city Tuesday to voice their demands.
The applicants pointed out that the interviews for RAS 2023 are currently in progress, with the final results yet to be announced. They argued that holding the RAS main 2025 examination before publishing the previous examination's results could result in candidate overlap, as numerous individuals are still awaiting their outcomes. "Candidates who are already waiting for their results from RAS 2023 sat for the prelims this year and will once again sit for RAS Mains, which will add to duplications.
Firstly, the RAS exam was announced in 2023, and prelims took place in 2024, which was already delayed. Now results have also not been issued, and RAS 2025 is being conducted. While exams should be conducted timely, the same applies to results," said Deepak Kaushal, an RAS aspirant.
Candidates added that those who were unsuccessful in the RAS 2023 Main Exam have not yet received the answer sheet from RPSC, due to which they are unable to evaluate themselves and prepare accordingly for future exams.

Candidates further said that this year the "shortest time" has been given for the main examination in RAS 2025, as the exam is being conducted within four months of the RAS prelims, conducted in February this year. "It is not possible to cover 25-30 subjects in three to four months. Candidates are usually given six months for preparation after prelims. The preparation of many candidates from border districts of the state also got affected due to the blackout imposed as security measures for Operation Sindoor," said Lakshya Pratap Singh, another RAS aspirant.

Elon Musk bids goodbye to DOGE after ‘scheduled time'; Netizens ask Grok to summarize his ‘achievements'
Elon Musk is bidding farewell to his 'Government Gig'! The Tesla CEO, who took the lead at the Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump 2.0 Administration, has announced that his 'scheduled time' has come to an end. What did Musk say? On May 28, Musk announced via X, that his time leading President Donald Trump's cost-cutting task force has come "to an end". — elonmusk (@elonmusk) He wrote on X, "As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending." He concluded his post, saying, 'The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.' Musk has helped lead the DOGE since its inception this year. As it is well-known now, he was designated as a "special government employee" - which allows him to work a government job for 130 days each year. Counting from Trump's inauguration on 20 January, he was supposed to hit that limit towards the end of May. Musk thanked Trump for the role in a post on X and said he believed the cost-cutting agency would become a "way of life throughout government". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Musk's "offboarding" as a special government employee would reportedly begin on Wednesday night. Notably, Musk's exit comes after he criticised Trump's "big, beautiful" bill, which includes multi-trillion dollar tax breaks and a pledge to increase defence spending. The internet reacts: As Musk has announced his departure from the DOGE, the social media, quite expectedly, has some thoughts. While most of the internet users wished the SpaceX billionaire best for his upcoming endeavors, one user took a reroute and asked Grok to summarize Musk's achievements while he was at DOGE. Now, Grok is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, based on a large language model (LLM) of the same name, and was launched in November 2023 by Elon Musk himself. Grok is designed to be conversational and is known for its "sense of humor" and direct access to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Seems like Grok has used its sense of humor in this case as well, as the AI chatbot declared, 'The true impact of DOGE remains debated amid ongoing scrutiny.' When asked what Musk's achievements are at the DOGE, Grok replied, 'As a Special Government Employee, Elon Musk led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), claiming $160 billion in savings by terminating wasteful contracts, like $255 million from 269 contracts, and modernizing IT systems, such as digitizing the OPM retirement process. DOGE also cleaned Social Security records and supported voter integrity measures. ' Grok added, 'However, these efforts face criticism for potential costs of $135 billion in lost productivity, legal challenges, and service disruptions. Concerns about Musk's business conflicts and political motivations persist, with public opinion divided, as 54% view him unfavorably. ' Another user lauded Musk for his contributions to the United States of America, saying, 'I honestly don't know if we could've saved America if @ElonMusk hadn't spent $40 billion to buy Twitter and rescue free speech.' This particular user's take? 'He absolutely deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom.' However, several users had other opinions. One of them asked, 'What was achieved other than elon breaking things and leaving them broken' while another commented, 'this has damaged your brand beyond anything you can imagine.'

Mock drills are back
New Delhi: India is set to hold civil defence mock drills on Thursday across four states bordering Pakistan -- Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. The drills aim to test emergency response coordination and civilian evacuation strategies in case of cross-border hostilities or terror-related incidents. Government officials said the exercise would involve local civil defence teams, police, disaster response units, and medical staff. The drill is intended to test emergency response coordination, civilian evacuation protocols, and inter-agency communication in case of cross-border hostilities or terrorist incidents. The mock drill comes just weeks after India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6–7, a retaliatory strike reportedly targeting terror camps and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation was a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. India's counter-attack prompted Pakistan to launch its strikes on Indian military sites and urban areas. In response, India hit at least nine Pakistani air bases, including radar and air defence units. After several days of high-intensity action, Pakistan requested a ceasefire, which India accepted on May 10. The Haryana government is also set to conduct a major state-wide civil defence exercise named 'Operation Shield,' on May 29, across all 22 districts from 5 pm onwards to enhance the state's emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

Amid Criticism From Congress, BJP Kiren Rijiju Defends Shashi Tharoor
Amid criticism within the Congress party over Shashi Tharoor's support for the government's Operation Sindhuri, the BJP has come out in support of the Congress leader. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over statements against Tharoor, saying, "There's a limit to political desperation." This comes after Tharoor's comments in Panama, where he led one of the seven teams during the all-party delegation visit. "What does the Congress party want & How much they really care for the country? Should the Indian MPs go to foreign nation and speak against India and its Prime Minister? There's limit to political desperation," Rijiju said in a microblogging site X. What does the Congress party want & How much they really care for the country? Should the Indian MPs go to foreign nation and speak against India and its Prime Minister? There's limit to political desperation! — Kiren Rijiju (@KirenRijiju) May 28, 2025 Rijiju's reaction comes after Congress leader Udit Raj questioned Tharoor's statement in Panama, alleging that he sounded like a BJP spokesperson. "Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is the super spokesperson of the BJP, and what the BJP leaders are not saying, speaking in favour of PM Modi and the government, Shashi Tharoor is doing... Does he (Shashi Tharoor) even know what the earlier governments used to do?... They (the Central government) are taking credit for the Indian Armed Forces," Udit Raj had said. After pledging full support to the Centre following the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam, the party has now urged the government to clarify the role of US President Donald Trump in the ceasefire that followed four days of Pakistani aggression. "Our Prime Minister has made it very clear. Operation Sindoor was necessary because these terrorists came and wiped the sindoor off the foreheads of 26 women, depriving them of their husbands.... We heard their cries and India decided that the colour of the Sindoor, the vermilion colour on the forehead of our women, will also match the colour of the blood of the killers, the perpetrators, the attackers," Tharoor said in Panama. Tharoor, a career diplomat who previously served at the United Nations before entering politics, was not among the leaders recommended by the Congress for the all-party teams. He was selected directly by the Centre, a move that the Congress openly criticised, expressing displeasure over the government's decision to bypass consultation with the party.
