From Blue To Black Error: Windows PCs Will Now Crash With A New Message
Last Updated:
Windows 11 users will soon get a new black screen error message whenever their system crashes and without any emoji.
Windows error message called the Blue Screen of Death is getting a new version after 40 years and Microsoft is replacing the colour blue with black for PC crashes from now on. The company had earlier teased that, 'It is previewing a new, more streamlined UI for unexpected restarts, which better aligns with Windows 11 design principles." And now the changes are gradually going to reflect on the affected Windows screens.
BSOD was introduced with Windows 1.0 and has experienced various cosmetic alterations. However, this is the first time in recent years that the Windows error page will undergo a significant update.
The Black BSOD Message Upgrade
You have probably heard of the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error message, even if you have never used Windows. Although no one wants the error to appear on their computer, you will likely see it more often than you would like.
The iconic Blue message of Death with a frowning emoji is now being replaced with a simple green message that reads, 'Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart."
It is quite certain that Microsoft had enough of the BSOD screen message during the ill fated Crowdstrike update error situation that caused a massive outage globally. Switching from Blue to black and changing the message is also part of the new Windows identity and the error code now moves to the bottom of the screen.
The BSOD error message didn't do much to alleviate the concerns of the consumers and it feels the company wanted a more clearer approach to this situation. Having said that, blue is definitely a more subtle colour than black and some of them might see it as a colour of destruction.
So, when does Microsoft plan to incorporate the new black BSOD error message for Windows users? The company says the error message colour upgrade and UI will be available for Windows PCs later this summer on all Windows 11 PCs that are running on version 24H2.
40 years is a really long time for any feature to continue and just like the Notepad getting a new lease of life with Windows 11, it is time to see something different if at all when your system crashes.

Bill Gates could have been richer than Elon Musk; find out why that didn't happen
Bill Gates could have become the world's first trillionaire if he had held on to his original Microsoft shares , according to a new analysis by Forbes . Together, he and Melinda French Gates might have amassed a combined fortune of around $1.5 trillion, without selling stock or dedicating large portions of their wealth to philanthropy. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Gates alone could have been worth an estimated $1.2 trillion. Back in 1986, when Microsoft went public, Gates owned 11.2 million shares, roughly 49 percent of the company, worth about $200 million at the time. Adjusted for stock splits, that holding would now be about 3.2 billion shares, or 43 percent of Microsoft, valued at approximately $1.4 trillion. With another $100 billion from dividends after tax, his hypothetical net worth would have set a new global record. Instead, Gates chose a different path. He steadily sold off shares and focused on philanthropy through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation . Today, he holds just 0.9 percent of Microsoft, worth around $28 billion. Melinda's current Microsoft stake is valued at about $380,000. This decision reshaped their legacy, from tech billionaires to some of the world's most influential philanthropists. Why Bill Gates donated $60 billion In 2000, according to Dailymotion, Bill and Melinda established the Gates Foundation with initial funding that has grown over the years. Together, they contributed $60.2 billion, directing $47.7 billion toward global health and poverty initiatives. That made them the second-largest philanthropists in US history at that time. Bill's 2010 'Giving Pledge,' co-founded with Warren Buffett, committed him to donate nearly all his wealth to charitable causes. Melinda confirmed that she viewed concentrating wealth as counterproductive, believing in redistributing resources more responsibly, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now What stopped Bill Gates from becoming a trillionaire Forbes estimates Bill's current net worth at about $113 billion and Melinda's at $30.4 billion. These figures still placed them among the global elite, though far from the trillion-dollar mark. By comparison, Elon Musk recently topped out with a net worth near $368 billion, according to Bloomberg. Under the hypothetical scenario, Bill would have far eclipsed that peak, marking a wealth level not seen in human history. Melinda, with her estimated stake, would have entered the top three richest individuals worldwide. What stopped Bill Gates from becoming a trillionaire Why Bill Gates is donating nearly all his wealth by 2045 The central shift began when the Gates Foundation turned into more than just a personal project. It became a formal body focused on health, poverty, education, and equity. The couple poured tens of billions into vaccines, infectious disease prevention, agricultural development, and women's empowerment globally. In recent years, they have made major commitments. Bill pledged to donate nearly 99 percent of his remaining wealth over the next two decades. Melinda launched Pivotal Philanthropies and directed $12.5 billion toward gender issues. Bill also confirmed that the Gates Foundation will wind down by 2045, the planned endpoint for most philanthropic ventures.

Microsoft's next-gen AI chip may be facing production delay
Microsoft 's plans for its next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chip, code-named Maia, are reportedly facing a significant setback. According to The Information, citing sources involved in the effort, the chip's mass production has been delayed by at least six months, now pushing its rollout into 2026 instead of the anticipated 2025. When 'Braga,' as the chip is also known, eventually enters production, its performance is expected to fall considerably short of Nvidia's Blackwell chip, which was released late last year, the report said. Microsoft had initially aimed to integrate the Maia chip into its data centers as early as this year. However, design changes, staffing constraints and high employee turnover are cited as key factors contributing to the delay. The race for custom AI processors hots up Like its major tech counterparts, Microsoft has been heavily investing in developing custom processors for AI operations and general-purpose applications. This move is intended to lessen the tech giant's dependence on expensive chips from Nvidia, which currently dominates the AI hardware market . by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this if you own a mouse Panzer Rush Undo Cloud rivals Amazon and Alphabet's Google have also been pursuing in-house chip development, tailoring processors to their specific needs with the dual goals of boosting performance and cutting costs. Microsoft first introduced the Maia chip in November 2023 but has since lagged behind its peers in scaling up its production. In contrast, Google has seen success with its custom AI chips, known as Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). In April, Google unveiled its seventh-generation AI chip, designed to accelerate the performance of AI applications. Similarly, Amazon in December revealed its next-generation AI chip, Trainium 3, which is slated for release later this year. Meanwhile, Nvidia is also expected to announce its next-generation chips later this year. One of the biggest competitors of Nvidia, AMD has also announced new chips that are claimed to offer better performance than Nvidia's Blackwell chips. AI Masterclass for Students.
