5 Thai beaches that quietly outshine Phuket
Phuket's great and all if you like your sunsets with a side of selfie sticks and your sand crowded with tourists. But if you're after beach bliss without the tourist crush, Thailand has plenty of coastal gems that quietly outshine Phuket's noisy charms.
So, if your dream beach involves actual peace, and more coconut than chaos — here are five Thai beaches that are better alternatives than Phuket. Find out here.
Koh Lipe
It can be considered better than Phuket because of its Caribbean-clear water, and the vibe is chilled. Located in the far south near the Malaysian border, it's small, spectacular, and still (somehow) underhyped. And you can walk the whole island barefoot in 30 minutes, no tuk-tuk required.

Railay Beach
Accessible only by boat, Railay isn't technically an island, but it feels like one. Towering limestone cliffs frame emerald bays, climbers dangle off rocks like stylish lizards, and the beaches? Unreal. It's considered a better alternative to Phuket because of zero traffic, and jaw-dropping views. And then there is Phra Nang Cave Beach, where the sand glows. Go for a kayak during the golden hour for next-level fun.

Koh Yao Noi
Stuck between Phuket and Krabi, Koh Yao Noi is another beautiful place to be. It's a quiet island with white sand beaches and wildlife. Why it beats Phuket: No crowds, no chaos. Just yoga on the beach, fresh seafood, and a local community that hasn't been Instagrammed that much. This place is ideal for couples, writers, introverts, and anyone who hates crowds.

Ao Nang
Ao Nang often gets dismissed as just a transit town, but hear us out, the beach is long, the sunsets are cinematic, and it's the perfect springboard to hop onto better-known spots like Railay or the Phi Phi Islands.
Also, it's cheaper, less chaotic, and you can actually find pad thai that doesn't cost as much as a hostel bed.
Koh Mak
Tiny, eco-friendly, and famously laid-back, Koh Mak is a small island with beautiful beaches that doesn't care about your itinerary. It's all hammocks, bicycles, and conversations with strangers over banana pancakes. Why it beats Phuket: No mega-resorts. No full-moon madness. Just old-school island life and beaches that look like your screen saver.

Indian embassy in Iran begins winding up evacuation mission after ceasefire
The Indian Embassy in Iran said on Tuesday that it is "winding up" the evacuations initiated during the military conflict between Iran and Israel after a ceasefire was reached between the two nations. In a thread on X, however, the Embassy said India is closely monitoring the situation and will revise its strategy if Indian nationals face any security threats. "Since there has been an announcement of ceasefire, the Embassy is gradually winding up the evacuation exercise initiated during the military conflict in Iran," it said. "Hence the Embassy has closed the contact desk that was opened to register new names for evacuation. At the same time, Govt. of India is keeping a careful eye on the evolving situation, & will reassess its strategy in case there is again a threat to the security of Indian nationals in Iran," it added. India launched Operation Sindhu last week to bring back Indians from Iran and Israel, given the increasing hostilities between the two nations. In its post, the Embassy advised Indians planning to travel to Mashhad for evacuation to remain where they were and continue to monitor the news. It urged those who have already travelled to Mashhad and were staying in one of the hotels arranged by the Embassy to shift to the Sadr Hotel on Tuesday as the mission will be releasing the rooms in other hotels. "The embassy will retain the rooms in Sadr hotel for 2 more nights (until checkout time on 26 June). This will also allow citizens time to assure themselves that the security situation in Iran is indeed returning to normal," it said. "If any Indian citizens need any advice or assistance, or have any other special needs, they may contact the Embassy through the telegram channel or on the helplines provided earlier. These communication channels will be open for the next few days," it added. On Tuesday, India evacuated over 1,100 citizens from Iran and Israel, taking the number of evacuees under Operation Sindhu to 3,170, according to details shared by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
