WARR ACRES, Okla. (KFOR) — A year-long investigation has led to the arrest of 53-year-old Davena Marx, after police say she drugged her grandchildren and locked them in a dog cage.
Marx has been charged with four counts of Child Abuse and one count of Child Neglect.
Warr Acres Assistant Police Chief Jason Allen said Marx's arrest came later, due to forensic interviews with the children and gathering evidence with the District Attorney's Office.
'The day we went out with them, there was enough to immediately remove the children, which is often not the case,' Asst. Chief Allen said.
'They did find a large dog cage in the residence, and they also did locate Seroquel, which was also one of the allegations that Seroquel had been given to the children as well,' he added.
In court documents, Marx's two grandchildren, both under 10 years old, detail the horrific abuse to DHS Investigators.
One of the children said Marx would step on their feet and grind her heels into their toes, also hitting them with belts that would leave bruises covering their bodies.

The child also said, 'Memaw sells drugs and uses them; she makes us stay in the dog cage when she wants to go outside by herself.'
'The children did test positive for Seroquel, so she was definitely giving them this,' Asst. Chief Allen said.
A neighbor also told officers she noticed the children with black eyes and eating out of the dumpster. She also heard Marx cursing at them and calling them worthless.
The abuse took place at a Warr Acres apartment complex near N. MacArthur.
Neighbors in the complex were stunned when they heard about the abuse.
'It's crazy, it's crazy, and something should be done to her,' said Kenneth Greer.
Greer also said, 'It's sad and sickening, that someone would do this to kids, locking them up in a cage, giving them drugs, beating them and everything, that's crazy.'
News 4 learned that the children's father was killed in a road rage incident. The mother's whereabouts are unknown.
However, officers say the children are now with other family members.
Marx is in the Oklahoma County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Geraldo Rivera: Sen. Padilla's removal a ‘bad look'

(NewsNation) — NewsNation correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera said Thursday he believes Democratic California Sen. Alex Padilla's removal from a DHS press briefing in Los Angeles was rough handling and was a 'bad look' for the law enforcement officers who restrained him. 'The United States senator has a right, even if it's a stunt, to get in front of a camera and have a dialogue with Kristi Noem,' Rivera said. Video shared of the incident shows Padilla being restrained by law enforcement and forced out of the room and him later being pushed to the ground and handcuffed. In the video, Padilla is seen interrupting the conference held by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, looking to ask her questions. FBI head Patel suing MSNBC columnist over nightclub hopping claims DHS accused Padilla of failing to identify himself and stated that he 'lunged toward' Noem. However, in the video, Padilla identifies himself as he moves toward the front of the room. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said the agents who removed Padilla acted 'completely appropriately' in assisting Secret Service officials. Noem later said in a post on X that she and Padilla met for 15 minutes after the conference and exchanged phone numbers to talk more later. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Kristi Noem suspects 'completely inappropriate' Democratic senator 'wanted the scene'

While giving a briefing on federal efforts to restore peace in Los Angeles, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's press conference Thursday became engulfed in a display some critics called "political theater" when a California Democratic lawmaker interrupted Noem's remarks. After loudly speaking over Noem and approaching the podium where she was standing, Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., was escorted out of the room. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Padilla did not identify himself as a senator and was not wearing his Senate security pin. Although the two later met in private where they spoke for about 15 minutes, Padilla later spoke to the media, claiming he was "forced to the ground." Noem criticized Padilla's "absolutely ridiculous" statement, noting his behavior was "completely inappropriate" and "not becoming" of a public official. "This man burst into a room, started advancing toward the podium, interrupting an opening statement, elevating his voice, [and] shouting questions. People tried to stop him from interrupting the press conference. He refused and continued to lunge towards the podium," Noem said Thursday on "The Story." "That is when he was removed from the room. The way that he acted was completely inappropriate." A DHS spokesperson also said Padilla was told "repeatedly" to back away, and "did not comply" with officers' commands. "[Secret Service] thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately," the spokesperson said. Although Noem says the pair were OK after their private conversation, she observed Padilla may have "wanted the scene", particularly in light of his comments to the media following the incident. "If this is how this administration responds to a senator with a question, if this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California," Padilla told reporters Thursday. "We will hold this administration accountable." After criticizing Padilla's comments, Noem told "The Story" she was "so sick of the politics" and urged opponents to "get over themselves and have the backs of law enforcement." "I think the American people are sick of this kind of action. I think American people are tired of this. They just want the truth, and they just want to know what's happening, and that's what we were trying to provide," she said. Conservatives erupt after Dem senator's 'temper tantrum' sends DHS presser off the rails

Conservatives on social media lambasted Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., for interrupting a Department of Homeland Security press conference in Los Angeles Thursday despite the Senate being in session. Padilla was kicked out of the event, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said she does not know him personally. "This is embarrassing [Padilla] spare me the fake outrage. Where were you when LEOS were being pelted with bricks? Hiding along with puppet [Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna]? #FactsMatter," former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva posted on X. "Whoa!! A sitting US Senator, Alex Padilla, was just shoved and forcibly removed from a press conference with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Reports are he's been arrested. No one is above the law. It's about time these Democrats stopped acting like they are," Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk tweeted. "Sen. Padilla missed Senate votes all week, only to throw a temper tantrum, rush the stage where DHS Secretary Noem was speaking, and get forcibly removed by security. Good on security to quickly address the threat," conservative communications operative Steve Guest posted on X. The political tensions between California leaders and the Trump administration mounted with Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in the city, which have prompted protests and riots in the area. President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to guard ICE officers despite Gov. Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass adamantly opposed to it. Newsom said the move was "unprecedented and threatens the very core of our democracy." "Donald Trump is behaving like a tyrant, not a President. We ask the court to immediately block these unlawful actions," he added. "Senator Padilla is currently in Los Angeles exercising his duty to perform congressional oversight of the federal government's operations in Los Angeles and across California," his office said in a statement. "He was in the federal building to receive a briefing with General Guillot and was listening to Secretary Noem's press conference. He tried to ask the secretary a question and was forcibly removed by federal agents, forced to the ground and handcuffed. He is not currently detained, and we are working to get additional information." After the incident, Padilla's office said he is not in police custody. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed Noem and Padilla had a meeting after the scuffle. The secretary confirmed to Fox News that the meeting went well, and the two exchanged phone numbers. "During a press conference today held at the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office, Senator Alex Padilla was detained by members of the U.S. Secret Service assigned to Secretary Noem's detail when he became disruptive while formal remarks were being delivered," the FBI said Thursday. "Secret Service agents were assisted by FBI Police who are in Los Angeles at this time. Senator Padilla was not wearing his Senate security pin; however, (he) was subsequently positively identified and released."
