"Ten times more special" Virat dedicates RCB's maiden IPL trophy to de Villiers, Gayle

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 4 (ANI): Virat Kohli, who brought delight to millions of people across the globe after playing his part in steering Royal Challengers Bengaluru to its maiden IPL trophy, gave fans another reason to smile after dedicating their historic title win to the two franchise stalwarts AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. RCB etched its name into the history books by deflating Punjab Kings' hopes of lifting the trophy in the final of the 18th season of the cash-rich league. Gaye and de Vliiers watched the famous moment on the sidelines and celebrated the special success story with their former compatriot and long-time friend Virat. After the destructive trio reunited, Virat, who struggled to hide away his emotions, reminisced about the good old days when they put in everything they had on the field in their prime years. In 2016, they came close but couldn't get past the finishing line. 'I have spent my prime years with them. I know how much we tried to win this. We were so close a couple of times, and we were such a good team; we had the explosiveness in our team, but we could never cross the line. We gave our prime years to this franchise,' Virat said while speaking to the broadcasters after the final. Bengaluru churned out the blueprint for lifting the trophy after posting 190/9 on the board. RCB bowlers hunted in packs, took wickets at regular intervals, and conjured a six-run victory to take the coveted title home. For the teary-eyed Virat, the presence of his former teammates made the moment '10 times more special'. The trophy that belonged to the franchise's beloved star, 'equally', belonged to Gayle and de Villiers. 'I promise you this feels 10 times more special because these two are standing next to me. Honestly, it is as much theirs as it is mine. When you come to Bengaluru, it is not just me; when they come, people love them and they go absolutely berserk. They know, and they appreciate that they have given their heart and soul to this team till the time they played here. These two guys have given their everything, so it is equally theirs, too,' he added. The former South African dynamic batter is RCB's second-highest run-scorer of all time, with 4,522 runs in 157 matches and 145 innings at an average of 41.10, including two centuries and 37 half-centuries. His runs came at an impressive strike rate of 158.33. For RCB from 2011-17, Gayle effortlessly toppled down records, scored 3,163 runs in 85 matches and 84 innings at an average of 43.33, with a strike rate of 152.73. He scored five centuries and 19 fifties, with the best score of 175*. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi pitches for Telangana model for caste census, says Modi government not interested in bringing social justice

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 4 (ANI): Accusing the BJP-led government not being interested in caste census even as an announcement has been made in this regard, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said such an enumeration will ensure social justice. He also said that caste census will meet the same fate as the Women Reservation Act, which is not being implemented immediately and will come into force after some years. Addressing a workers convention here, he alleged that Modi government does not want to bring social justice and wants to promote chosen industralists. 'BJP does not want to conduct caste census, because if caste census is conducted then their Adani-Ambani model will end because country will know that 90 per cent are not benefiting from this and the country's money is only being sent to the 5-10 per cent, and people will rise up stop this on their own. This is the fight,' he said. He said caste census is like X-ray of society. 'Have you ever gotten a fracture? What does the doctor say? That first let's see it and do an whole country knows that Dalits, backward classes and poor general castes are getting hurt. I am just saying to do an X-ray and see the problem. If it is revealed that that there is no problem, everything is all right. If X-ray reveals that the leg is broken, then something will have to be done.' The Congress leader also advocated 'Telangana model' for conducting caste census. 'There are two models for caste census, one of Telangana and another is Bihar Bihar they chose the questions behind closed door, without asking Dalits, tribals, backward classes, general caste or Telangana we asked lakhs of people, Dalit, Adivasi groups, and politicians. We asked them what questioned they would want, 3.5 lakh people were included in our process.' (ANI)

"Insulted India, armed forces...": BJP MP Sambit Patra slams Rahul Gandhi over Operation Sindoor remarks

New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra launched a sharp attack on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on India's retaliatory military action against Pakistan and Operation Sindoor, accusing him of 'insulting the country and its armed forces.' The BJP MP said Rahul Gandhi's speech in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday does not befit any 'civilised politician or any leader of the opposition.' Sharing a self-made video on X, Sambit Patra said, 'Today, during his speech in Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi has not only insulted Operation Sindoor but also the Indian Army and the country. The way Rahul Gandhi spoke about Operation Sindoor does not befit any civilised politician, any leader of the opposition or any politician. This kind of politician, who uses words like 'surrender' for his motherland, is not fit for the country.' 'The terrorist attack of Pahalgam was avenged by entering a nuclear-powered country, nine terrorist hideouts were destroyed, more than 100 terrorists were killed, and when retaliation took place, 11 airbases of Pakistan were destroyed. All this is on record, there is evidence... India has never surrendered to terrorism,' he added. Patra further said, 'When there was a logjam between India and China over Doklam, Rahul Gandhi's entire family was caught spying against India...' This comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-led government on Tuesday over allegations of mediation by the United States in Operation Sindoor. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'followed' Donald Trump following a call by the US leader and that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi did not budge to the US in the 1971 war. Addressing a convention of Congress workers in Bhopal, LoP Rahul Gandhi said, 'Now, I understand RSS-BJP well. They run away out of fear if slight pressure is put on them. When Trump called Modiji- Modiji kya kar rahe ho, Narender-Surrender and with 'ji hazooor', Narenderji followed Trump. In the 1971 war, Seventh Fleet (came from the US), India Gandhi said I will do whatever I have to do. This is the difference. This is their character; all of them are like this. Since the Independence movement, they have had the habit of writing letters of surrender.' He also reiterated his attack on social media, X, stating, 'Trump's phone came, and PM Narendra Modi ji immediately surrendered. History is witness. This is the character of the BJP-RSS, they always budge. India had bifurcated Pakistan in 1971 despite the threat by the United States.' 'The 'babbar sher' and 'shernis' of Congress fight the Superpowers, they do not bow,' his post read. Rahul Gandhi's speech in Madhya Pradesh has sparked reactions from the BJP leaders. BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan launched a blistering attack on Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, accusing him of cowardice and hypocrisy. He alleged that Congress has a legacy of appeasement and weak leadership. Responding to Rahul Gandhi's recent comments critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kesavan said, 'The Congress party, ever since Nehru's days, has been hyphenated with cowardice. Rahul Gandhi says don't be afraid, but he himself is afraid to release the contents of 51 cartons of letters written by Jawaharlal Nehru, which rightfully belong to the nation.' Referring to recent military operations, Kesavan said Gandhi's remarks insulted the armed forces. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also launched a fierce attack on Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making 'indecent' remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioning his values and patriotism. Bhandari also alleged that the Congress leader's actions, including offering tributes to former PM Indira Gandhi without removing his shoes, reflect a disregard for Indian traditions and respect. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for stopping hostilities between India and Pakistan after New Delhi's effective response to Islamabad's aggression following precision strikes on terror infrastructure. India had conducted Operation Sindoor early on May 7 and hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India effectively responded to subsequent Pakistani aggression and pounded its airbases. India and Pakistan agreed to stop military action following a call made by Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) to his Indian counterpart. (ANI)
