22 Maoists killed in ongoing anti-Maoist operation ‘Mission Sankalp' in Chhattisgarh
RAIPUR: At least twenty-two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces during the ongoing anti-Maoist operation 'Mission Sankalp' in the volatile south-west forest border area of Bijapur district adjoining Telangana, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.
The gunbattle broke out in the morning near the Karregutta hilly terrain along the interstate border. 'So far, 22 bodies have been recovered as the search operation continues in the region. The identity of the dead Maoists are yet to be established,' he said.
In the past two weeks of the massive offensive in south Bastar, security forces have gunned down 26 Maoists, including three women Naxalites who were killed in an exchange of fire on April 24, followed by the neutralisation of one woman Maoist on 5 May.
'Several weapons have been recovered during the ongoing 'decisive' inter-state operation involving more than 15,000 security personnel over the past 12 days, as troops continue to march cautiously ahead towards the lesser-known Karregutta forested hills, surrounded by dense terrain, believed to be a crucial safe haven for senior Maoist leaders including top commanders of their battalion,' the officer said.

'These four countries which we visited they are very important for us because they were part of middle East, FATF and earlier also many of these countries didn't object to Pakistan being into FATF they are quite influential also in terms of Pakistan,' he said, adding, 'Our interlocutors we have given them lot of examples lot of proofs as well how Pakistan is supporting this terror activities'. He added that the first thing New Delhi needs to ensure is that Pakistan gets back on the FATF grey list. On Pakistan's support to terrorism Owaisi also recalled telling the hosts in the four nations about Pakistan's direct links to the Pahalgam terror attack and The Resistance Front (TRF), the terror outfit believed to be behind the massacre. 'We also told them how Pakistan with the help of China didn't allow the naming of TRF in the resolution that was passed in UN Security Council about the Pahalgam attack,' he said. He also slammed the April 15 speech by Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir, who has now been elevated to the rank of field marshal, in which he 'talked about Kashmir being a jugular vein and how Pakistan will stand with all these people for opposing India.' On China's support to Pakistan Owaisi threw light on China's role in emboldening Islamabad's support to anti-India terror elements in the region. He added that Operation Sindoor outreach gave India an opportunity to expose China's support to Pakistan's terror factory. 'I had tried to expose Pakistan lies there wrong messaging against India and it was a good opportunity to expose how Pakistan works that without China they are nothing and they are handicapped without china help that they get,' he added. On loans to Pakistan Owaisi also called on the international financial institutions to impose stricter monetary controls on aid and assistance granted to Islamabad for developmental projects. 'Now there has to be monitoring of these loans that Pakistan is getting from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and world bank and IMF, otherwise these funds will not go to the upliftment of the Pakistani people, to eradicate poverty there.' Since India's four-day military standoff with Pakistan starting May 7, the IMF and the ADB have dished out aid worth millions to Pakistan 'for developmental projects' despite strong objections by India. Special court closes Powai land case against Niranjan Hiranandani, others
MUMBAI : A special court Monday closed criminal proceedings against developer Niranjan Hiranandani and others in the alleged Rs 30,000 crore Powai Area Development Scheme (PADS) land scam case. The judge observed that prosecuting the accused would not be in keeping with justice and that there was no prima facie case after the state Anti-Corruption Bureau submitted a closure report saying there was no evidence of corruption, monetary gratification, dishonest intention, or criminal conspiracy. The case relates to allegations that prime public land leased at concessional rates for affordable housing was diverted to construct luxury real estate and commercial premises by private developers, notably Niranjan Hiranandani, managing director of the Hiranandani group . "Having perused the closure report, I find that no material or anything incriminating, which could connect the accused…with the alleged crime has been found…in my opinion it would thus, be futile to unnecessarily prosecute the accused.., sans any material against them," special judge Shashikant Eknathrao Bangar said in a 119-page order made available on Tuesday. The judge said the closure reports are based on cogent investigation, verified compliance, and supported by judicial orders of the Bombay high court. Pointing to the HC's orders in three related PILs alleging breach of agreement with govt and misuse of FSI and development rights, the judge said allegations concerning breach of affordable housing obligations, amalgamation of flats, and sale of flats were conclusively examined and remedied. The judge noted that the high court had constituted a three-member joint committee to verify compliance and accepted reports in 2016 and 2017, which confirmed that out of 2,200 flats of 80 sqm, 1,337 were constructed, 12 locked, and 887 remained to be completed as per the plan and timeline. "The directions for completion of the remaining flats were passed with monitoring provisions. Any further breach or non-compliance was made subject to the court's ongoing supervision, obviating the need for separate criminal proceedings…the ACB rightly concluded that no prosecutable offence remained. There was no material to show abuse of public office or conspiracy," the judge said, adding that the probe was a 'fair' one. The ACB, through public prosecutor Ramesh Siroya, submitted before the court that sale of larger flats and amalgamation, though deviating from the spirit of the Agreement, was retrospectively regularised through the high court hearing the PILs. The agreement dated 19 Nov 1986, was executed between the state, MMRDA, and the developer for an area of 232 acres. Based on activist Santosh Daundkar's plea alleging that Hiranandani and others were involved in irregularities in the housing project, a court in 2012 ordered a probe. The ACB filed an FIR against Hiranandani and senior urban development department officer Thomas Benjamin and others under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC. In 2013, the ACB sought to close the case on the grounds that there wasn't sufficient evidence. Daundkar opposed the move. The ACB's closure report, which was rejected by the court on Jan 4 2018, led to a directive for further investigations. Following this, a second closure report was submitted on Aug 30, 2019. Daundkar challenged this report too and sought a reinvestigation. He alleged malafide transfer of the investigating officer, who was purportedly preparing to file a chargesheet against top officials and the builder. Daundkar argued that the final report was a result of administrative interference and suppression of crucial material. He contended that the final report is based heavily on the HC's civil PIL orders and ignores criminal aspects. He sought a fresh probe by an independent agency. The ACB said the allegations were not supported by documentary evidence or witness statements. "There are around 8,000 residents (approx) residing in PADS. None of the residents have filed any criminal complaints over the years pertaining to the development carried out in PADS," it submitted. It also pointed out that Daundkar had neither purchased any commercial premises nor was a resident or investor in the development. The judge rejected Daundkar's plea against the closure report, saying it reiterated allegations already considered in PILs and brought no new substantive material.

Contribute now New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government's decision to set up a trust for the management of Banke Bihari Mandir in Vrindavan has sparked opposition from priests in Mathura who has termed the move of the BJP government in the state as 'anti-Brahmin.' 'It was because of the penance of our ancestors that God had appeared here. The temple became revered under their supervision, but the government is now taking it over on the pretext of regulating its management,' said Tarachand Goswami, the former chairman of the temple on Wednesday (June 4) reported The Telegraph. Another priest, Vishnu Goswami accused the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government of deliberately trying to snatch the livelihood of Brahmins. Last week, the state government had cleared an ordinance that paved the way for setting up the Shri Banke Bihariji Mandir Nyas Trust. The trust is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the management of the shrine and its everyday rituals. Priests from the Goswami sect have been managing the temple since the last few hundred years. Some Goswami priests have said that if the government didn't review its decision to take over the temple's management, they will take away the idol, which they say was installed by their ancestors in 1864. A government that confiscates temples cannot be secular. The government is constantly trying to regulate religion with an ulterior motive. The government appears against the Goswami tradition and wants to have its official priests,' said Swami Avimukteshwaranand, the Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath in Uttarakhand who has been staying in Mathura since last few days. The government has said that the trust is essential for the construction of a Banke Bihari Corridor around the temple at a cost of Rs. 500 crore.
