
Worried About AI-Generated Code? Ask AI To Review It
Software developers are under pressure to work more quickly getty
In a fast-paced world, every organisation is under huge pressure to develop its digital products and services more quickly than its rivals. Artificial intelligence (AI) can be a huge help. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told the LlamaCon AI conference last week that as much as 30% of its new code is now written by AI. Meta's Mark Zuckerberg told the same event that half of its development work could soon be done by AI. Google has said AI already writes 25% of its code.
It's a phenomenon that is gathering pace. Dario Amodei, Anthropic's CEO, reckons 90% of code will be AI generated within three to six months. Given that his business is all about promoting the take up of AI, he would say that – but the direction of travel now seems very clear.
All of which is good news in many ways, particularly for businesses struggling to get apps, website updates and other digital initiatives out of the door more quickly. Small businesses, for example, can use the technology to compete on a level playing field with much larger organisations. But there are also potential problems – especially the risk of AI writing bad code.
Indeed, one survey published earlier this year warned that more than half of software engineering leaders were finding AI-written code came with deployment errors – and that it forced them to spend more time debugging code. "AI tools have the potential to dramatically reduce this burden by automating repetitive tasks, streamlining workflows, and freeing developers to focus on creative problem-solving and innovation,' says Jyoti Bansal, CEO of Harness, which published the research. 'But let's be clear: AI is not a silver bullet.'
Amartya Jha, co-founder and CEO of CodeAnt AI, could not agree more. 'It doesn't matter how fast you produce code; what's really important is how well that code performs," Jha says. 'Is it free of bugs and security issues – and is it optimised for the purpose it is designed for?'.
In practice, Jha argues, such questions mean that the advent of AI-written code has created a new problem for the software engineering community – more resources are required to check all this content. 'As AI-driven coding becomes widespread, the real bottleneck isn't writing code – it's reviewing it,' he warns.
It won't surprise you to know that CodeAnt AI believes artificial intelligence itself is the answer. The company is today announcing its first institutional funding round, a $2 million seed raise, as it seeks to commercialise a product aimed squarely at the issue the industry is now dealing with. Its platform integrates directly with developer workflows such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps to provide almost instantaneous feedback on code quality, security and compliance. The reviews also come with one-click fixes that developers can use to rectify problems identified.
So far, Jha and his colleagues have signed up around 50 paying customers to its platform – the equivalent of around 10,000 users now using CodeAnt AI to review the code they're writing. The funding round, led by Y Combinator, VitalStage Ventures' Brian Shin and Uncorrelated Ventures, with participation from DeVC, Transpose Platform, Entrepreneur First, will help the business develop the product further and recruit additional engineering capacity.

It's a potentially fast-growing market give the sheer volume of AI-generated code out there. CodeAnt AI aims to rival market leaders such as CodeRabbit, which last year announced a $16 million Series A round, revealing that it had around 600 organisations using its code review platform. Businesses including Bito, CodiumAI, Coderbuds and CodeFactor operate in a similar space.
CodeAnt AI's investors believe there is plenty of work to go round. Tom Blomfield, a partner at Y Combinator, says: 'With more and more code being generated by AI, code review has never been more important – CodeAnt ensures that only high-quality code makes it into production.'
Shin is also optimistic. 'In a world where AI is rapidly democratising code generation, the bottleneck has shifted to validation,' he says. 'This leap forward empowers engineering teams to ship faster while catching issues earlier – a foundational advantage in today's software-driven economy.'
CodeAnt AI's customers see the benefits too. One early adopter is the vehicle data company Motorq, where tech lead Sundaraman Venkataramani says: ' Their AI-driven code reviews, real-time feedback and robust security features have streamlined our development process allowing us to focus on core domain challenges.'
That will sound promising to organisations suffering the kind of issues identified by Harness. Its survey found 59% of developers had experienced deployment errors at least half of the time when using AI tools, 92% believed that AI increased the "blast radius" from bad code reaching production, and 68% spent more time resolving AI-related security vulnerabilities. 'Without proper governance, security validation, and clear organizational policies, these tools can inadvertently add to developer stress rather than alleviate it,' Bansal adds.

For many, a combination of the Daleks from BBC's Doctor Who, and the droids, C3PO and R2D2 from Star Wars, form some early impressions. These machines can perceive the world around them, make decisions and act autonomously to a degree, all while performing impressive movement. With less constraints, robots are showing success in mimicking a wide variety of human tasks. Many organizations are experimenting with and already deploying humanoids in areas such as human collaboration—the term cobot is used to describe when a robot assists a human in their work, and in a manufacturing context where tasks are dangerous, repetitive, or require significant strength. Perhaps the most striking development in cognitive manufacturing and robotics is the emergence of dark factories or lights-out manufacturing. This is when the entire production process operates independent of human participation. You could think of it as the ultimate end-state of automation. In these facilities, physical AI and smart machines are responsible for all aspects of production and they operate 24/7. With no humans, there is no need for salaries and health insurance, and no expenses such as heat and light, resulting in significant cost savings. The notion of workplace accidents goes away. The promise of the cognitive industrial revolution is a world where humanoids and other robots conduct complex artificial general intelligence (AGI) tasks in a fully autonomous fashion in every industry. This is also when robots will regularly and with ease do housework, babysit, cook food, deliver healthcare, and even provide companionship. Various projections suggest that in the years ahead there will be millions, perhaps even billions, of humanoids working alongside and as replacements for humans. Planning for a future of intelligent robots means thinking about how they might transform your industry, what it means for the future of work, and how it may change the relationship between humans and technology. Leaders must consider the ethical issues of cognitive manufacturing such as job disruption and displacement, accountability when things go wrong, and the use of surveillance technology when, for example, robots use cameras working alongside humans. Microsoft reveals new handheld Xbox Ally gaming PC in partnership with Asus
As with the Xbox Series X|S, the ROG Xbox Ally will ship in two models: one aimed for power users (Ally X), and a cheaper model (Ally, shown here) with slightly lower specs. (Xbox Image) After months of rumors, Microsoft officially debuted its ROG Xbox Ally gaming PC on Sunday, made in collaboration with Taiwanese computer company Asus. The ROG Xbox Ally is planned to ship this holiday season with two separate SKUs, with the same scheme and coloration as the Xbox Series X|S console. The white Ally is a lower-powered model aimed at casual players, while the more expensive black Xbox Ally X is billed as the 'ultimate high-performance handheld.' No prices have been announced. Both models of Xbox Ally are custom-made versions of Asus' ROG Ally handheld unit, with exclusive features such as a dedicated Xbox guide button. They're designed to support local native downloads, remote play by connecting to a local Xbox console, or streaming gameplay through the newly-rebranded Xbox Cloud. According to Microsoft, the Xbox Ally runs an optimized version of Windows 11 Home that integrates features from both Microsoft's Game Bar and Asus' Armoury Crate app. The Windows OS also lets you install games from multiple digital storefronts such as and Steam, or use apps such as Discord. The Xbox Ally is also stated to feature a 'Xbox full screen experience' that aggregates all your games from every available library connected to the device, eliminating the need to hunt through all your various apps to find what you're looking for. Both versions of the Ally are planned to ship with the recently-announced Copilot for Gaming integrated into the Game Bar, billed by Xbox as an AI-powered 'personalized gaming companion.' The Xbox Ally X is also powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, which is designed to 'power the latest AI features as they are introduced.' The Xbox Ally was revealed as part of this year's Xbox Showcase, a 90-minute presentation held as part of the annual Summer Games Fest in Los Angeles. While past Showcases have been broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater, this year's was pre-recorded, with segments hosted by Microsoft's Sarah Bond, Matt Booty, and Phil Spencer. Bond made a point of noting during the Showcase that every game that was shown this year will ship day-and-date on both Xbox Game Pass and will be compatible at launch with the Xbox Ally. One big surprise about the Xbox Ally, mentioned almost in passing during the Showcase, is that the long-awaited indie platformer Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently scheduled as a 'launch title' for the Ally. This is the first mention of Silksong anywhere during Summer Games Fest, which is a shock, as 'where's Silksong?' has been a running joke during every major gaming show for the last couple of years. In a slightly lower-key detail, this was the first Xbox Showcase held after Microsoft's recent move into cross-platform publishing. While no specific announcements were made on the topic, every game that's also headed to competing storefront like the PlayStation 5 or Steam was labeled as such during the Showcase. Apple's OS overhaul could bring ‘Liquid Glass' UI ahead of a 20th anniversary iPhone.
Mark Gurman's Bloomberg newsletter brings one more pre-WWDC 25 rumor, saying the most exciting part of the conference will be the rumored design overhaul for iPhone, Mac, and other platforms that he says is called Liquid Glass (remember Microsoft's Aero Glass, and Apple's iOS 7 shift away from skeuomorphism?). Adding 'transparency and shine effects in all of Apple's tool bars, in-app interfaces and controls,' he says it sets the stage for next year's 'Glasswing' iPhone design with curved glass sides, slim bezels, and no cutout section in the display.
