Qatari ambassador to Egypt discusses media role in security, peace at Al-Ahram - Society

Qatari Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States Tariq Ali Faraj Al-Ansari participated in a symposium titled "The Role of Media in Security and Peace" that was organized by Al-Ahram's Al-Bayt and Nisf Al-Dunya magazines.
The event was held at Al-Ahram headquarters in Cairo under the auspices of Abdel-Sadek El-Shorbagy, chairman of the National Press Authority, and Dr. Mohamed Fayez Farhat, chairman of Al-Ahram Foundation.
Dr. Farhat and Mrs. Sawsan Morad, editor-in-chief of Al-Bayt and Nisf Al-Dunya, welcomed Ambassador Al-Ansari and his accompanying delegation.
Discussions centred on strengthening Qatari-Egyptian relations and building bridges for media collaboration.
The symposium featured an exhibition titled "Qatar in the Eyes of the Media."
This exhibition showcased historical newspaper articles and reports highlighting Qatar's significant presence in Egyptian media over the decades and emphasizing bilateral cooperation and joint Arab initiatives, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause.
Ambassador Al-Ansari, for his part, highlighted the symposium's alignment with the 150th anniversary of the Al-Ahram Press Foundation.
He emphasized the media's pivotal role in promoting security and peace, reflecting Qatar's National Vision 2030, which advocates for constructive media engagement.
Moreover, Al-Ansari reiterated Qatar's dedication to international agreements that uphold the media's responsibility to correct misconceptions and foster peace.
He also highlighted both countries' collaborative efforts in mediating a ceasefire in Gaza, which showcased their unity and shared objectives in regional peace initiatives.
Furthermore, the Qatari ambassador praised the exhibition for illustrating the historical depth of Qatari-Egyptian relations through curated journalistic works.
A distinguished assembly of diplomats, media professionals, and artists attended the event, reflecting the commitment of both countries to enhancing media collaboration in support of regional stability and peace.

CAIRO, June 10 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty had a meeting with senior officials from the migration and expatriate affairs office, as part of regular reviews of his ministry's operations. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of engaging with Egyptian communities abroad, particularly second- and third-generation expats, through initiatives including guided visits to national projects aimed at strengthening ties with the homeland. He also highlighted ongoing preparations for the sixth annual 'Egyptians Abroad' conference in August 2025, a platform for direct dialogue between the state and expatriates. CAIRO, June 10 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi signed Law No. 86 of 2025 to regulate the issuance of Islamic fatwas. The law defines who can issue religious rulings. General fatwas, related to public matters, may only be issued by Al-Azhar's Council of Senior Scholars, the Islamic Research Academy, or Dar El-Ifta. Private fatwas may also be issued by the Al-Azhar Global Fatwa Center, authorized joint committees, and qualified imams from the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments).
