
Children should participate in sports to develop discipline: Dr. Shankar Sharma
Kurnool: The Taekwondo summer training classes at Sri Lakshmi NaraSimha Swamy Kalyana Mandapam near Pedda Market in Kurnool have been renamed Dr. Shankar Sharma. Children are being trained in Taekwondo under the guidance of Taekwondo instructor Venkateswarlu.
This summer training classes are continuing for a month. On this occasion, guest Dr. Shankar Sharma addressed the players. He suggested that martial arts practice should be done in the morning as the sun is high at present.
Parents should take care of their children and encourage them to participate in sports from an early age. Participating in sports will instill discipline in life. He said that yoga, pranayama and exercise in martial arts will increase concentration. Dr. Shankar Sharma advised them to take clean food and water. They should not eat junk food and eat more fruits.
Only those who are healthy are useful for the future of the country. Since the students are training in the morning, Dr. Shankar Sharma arranged hot boxes for all the players. Taekwondo instructor Venkateshwarlu was present at the event.

A Taekwondo team from Korea performed a special emonstration at the exhibition A new exhibition at the Korean Cultural Centre takes visitors through the history of Taekwondo – from its beginnings in the 1940s to its growth as a global sport. The exhibition, titled Taekwondo, Facing the World , was inaugurated recently in the presence of Korean Ambassador Lee Seong-ho. Through a collection shared by the National Taekwondo Museum in Korea, the exhibition explores themes such as the development of protective equipment, the standardisation of uniforms, the recognition of Taekwondo as Korea's national sport, and its rise in the world. In 1959, the first demonstration team was sent to Vietnam, where they taught the martial art for nearly a decade. During this time, an estimated 200,000 Vietnamese practiced Taekwondo. In 1965, a Taekwondo goodwill mission was dispatched overseas to enhance the martial art's national prestige through global demonstrations. The mission visited Germany, Italy, the UAE, Turkey, Malaysia, and Singapore over a span of about one month. Throughout the 1960s, a total of 169 Taekwondo masters were sent to 19 countries,' reads a wall panel at the exhibition. City student bags gold in Taekwondo championship
Visakhapatnam: Adding to her list of achievements, P Devi Tulasi, 9th class student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's School, secured a gold medal in 46th Sub Junior, 11th Cadet, 44th Junior and Senior Kyurogi and Poomsae Dis-trict Taekwondo Championship – 2025, held recently at Ukkuna-garam, Visakhapatnam. The student has been receiving regular Taekwondo training from an early age through the school's Sports Academy under the guidance of expert coaches, has consistently excelled in the sport, winning several accolades at various levels. The championship was organised by PydimambaTaekwondo Club, af-filiated to the District Taekwondo Association and recognised by the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association. Devi Tulasi competed in the Under-14, below 59-kg category, show-casing commendable skill and determination.
