Kerry schoolboy soccer: St Brendans on the double in U12 Division 1

Division 1
It was a great week for the St Brendan's Park Under 12 Division 1 sides, with both their B and C teams securing impressive wins, as the Cs clinched the league title.
The Park C's put in a commanding display to overpower Killarney Celtic B on a 6-1 scoreline. A spread of goals showcased their attacking depth, with strikes from Igor Jasiński, Iarlaith Clifford, Leo Fitzgibbon, Rory Kelliher, Kyle O'Sullivan, and Dean Ferritier.
Cian O'Connell netted a consolation for Celtic, but Park C were in control throughout.
In a much tighter affair, Park B edged past Camp B 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Dylan Carroll. The result capped off a perfect week for the club's Under 12 sides, a league title and six points claimed.
Division 2 North
An exciting round of fixtures, saw LB Rovers pick up a big three points in the title race.
Anlon O'Brien was the hero for LB Rovers B, netting both goals in a well-earned 2-0 victory over Fenit C. The home side looked sharp in attack and solid at the back, securing a deserved clean sheet.
A tightly contested match in Georgie O'Callaghan Park was settled by Zach O'Connor, whose goal proved enough to give Castleisland C a narrow but valuable win 1-0 over Listowel Celtic C.
In the most dramatic game of the round, Tralee Dynamos B edged a five-goal thriller against Ardfert 3-2. Goals from Jack O'Connor, Gearoid Jones, and Abdul Razzouk secured the points, while Billy Kelly and Dean Power were on target for Ardfert in a brave effort.
BOYS UNDER 13 CUP/SHIELD
A thrilling week of John Joe Naughton Cup, Shield, and Trophy action, saw the competitions produce goals galore across quarter-finals and semi-finals.

It went the distance in Listowel in one of the other ties, as Listowel Celtic advanced with a 4-2 win over Fenit after extra time after a fiercely-contested match.

Silverware for Louth girls team after extra-time triumph at prestigious Gaynor Cup

After a goal-less 60 minutes of normal time, Hilary Adeniran's strike in the first period of extra time proved the difference. The Albion Rovers striker won the Player of the Match award for her huge impact off the bench, and she might have put the seal on the win with a couple of subsequent gilt-edged chances. But the game remained in the balance right up until the final whistle, its sound sparking huge celebrations for the Louth girls, who saw out a well-deserved victory. Captain Maisie Ball lifted the Gaynor Trophy to cap off a memorable week for the under-14 squad, which began with a fiercely contested group stage. Louth kicked off Group 5 on Monday with a 1-1 draw against Kilkenny - Ellie Malone grabbing a late equaliser - before a narrow 1-0 defeat to eventual group winners Mayo kicked off Tuesday's action. Anna-May Lynch's equaliser earned another 1-1 draw, this time against Tipperary South, but results in other games meant that the side finished bottom of a tight group and so progressed into the Trophy competition. Wednesday's quarter-final against Inishowen was another tense affair, with Rosie Fox's 14th-minute strike cancelled out by a second-half equaliser from the north Donegal outfit, which sent the game to penalties. Goalkeeper Abi Osawaru saved the first Inishowen spot kick to put Louth in the driving seat, with successful penalties from Sophia Mackin, Rosie Fox, Mia Van Der Westhuizen and Éabha Byrne sealing the win. A semi-final win over Derry followed on Thursday, with Ball's strike giving Louth a half-time lead. A Van Der Westhuizen own goal drew Derry level at the start of the second half, but Louth gathered themselves and strikes from Fox and Adeniran saw them through to the final and a shot at the Gaynor Trophy. It was a chance they didn't pass up, and so now the LSGL Academy can add the 2025 Gaynor Trophy to the 2022 Gaynor Bowl and the 2021 Gaynor Trophy previously secured. That's three pieces of silverware in five appearances at Ireland's premier youth football tournament for the LSGL - a remarkable achievement for a league that was only founded in 2019. ADVERTISEMENT Learn more Academy head coach Robbie Corr and LSGL chairperson Robbie Corr said: 'This week proved what's possible when a group of players believe in themselves, trust each other, and never stop working for the badge. 'Winning the Gaynor Trophy is a reward for every extra session, every tough moment, and every ounce of resilience shown along the way. This is just the start for these players. Their potential is massive, and I'm proud to have been part of their journey.' LOUTH: Goalkeepers: Féile May Buckley (Walshestown), Abi Osawaru (Rock Celtic). Kerry face tough group 2 opposition in Kennedy Cup schoolboy soccer tournament

Now, a decade later, the newest iteration of the squad is ready to make their own history. Last year's group lifted silverware in the Shield final, and this year's group is aiming to continue that trend. The competition will kick-off on Monday, June 9, and only last week Kerry learned their opponents as preparations for this competition really started to heat up. Ranked as the 16th seed going into the competition, Kerry entered pot 2, and were drawn against Group 2, a four-team pool that includes South Belfast, Tipperary South and North Tipperary. Of those teams, South Belfast come in as the sixth overall seed in the competition, and had a testing group stage in their Inter League, with themselves, Dundalk and NERL all ending up on six points. Belfast did contest the Shield Final, winning that game 2-0. Tipperary South and North Tipperary are very well familiar with themselves, not just in terms of geography but also the pair were in the same group during their Inter League campaign. North Tipp topped that group with a perfect performance, while their counterparts had just one win, finishing third. When it came to the knock-out stages North Tipperary made it to the cup final, which they lost 2-1 to Kildare. There is plenty of quality in group 2 with the other three teams full of confidence after winning silverware in UL earlier in the year. Results in the group will determine what pathway Kerry will end up following. First in the group will play in the Cup, with the Bowl, Shield and Trophy for the sides who finish second to fourth. Kerry finished bottom of their group last year by a narrow margin. Like every year, this year's Kennedy Cup is hard to call. It is a tough group already for Kerry, but they will have confidence ahead of their opening kick-off. Across the other groups action does look fierce, with two of the eight groups containing just three teams. Nevertheless, the competition will be a chance for a new chapter to be written, another legacy for Kerry soccer, the newest group led by Danny Diggins, Ken Cronin and Aidan O'Sullivan, have a wealth of talent and will look to show that on the big stage.
