
1 tourist killed, 12 injured in J&K's Pahalgam, Lashkar front TRF claims attack
One person was killed and twelve others were injured in a rare terror attack targeting tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. The attack took place at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon when a group of terrorists, dressed in fatigues, opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow. The person who died has been identified as Manjunath and is from Karnataka's Shivamogga.advertisementVisuals from the site of the attack showed bodies strewn around and a couple of women crying in distress as locals rushed to their aid. An eyewitness said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the tourists from close range, resulting in injuries to several persons, news agency PTI reported.
The Baisaran meadow is located around 5 kms from Pahalgam hill station and is accessible only by foot or ponies. Security forces cordoned off the area soon after the attack. The Resistance Front, a local offshoot of the Pakistan-based terror group Laskhar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the Pahalgam terror attack and asked him to take all suitable measures. The woman also revealed that she has been in touch with another women who has also claimed to have been cheated on by Dayal. "I stayed at Yash Dayal's house for 15 days. He even took me on a trip to Ooty. I have been at his home many times, and have spent time with his family. Yash Dayal and his family kept raising hopes by giving assurance of marriage," the woman from Ghaziabad alleged, in a report by Dainik Bhaskar. "Yash Dayal has made attempts to manipulate the case with money, but I have full faith in the law. The police have said that Yash Dayal has been sent a notice," said the woman, accusing the pacer of covering up the case using power, fame and money. The woman has stated that her doubts about Dayal having affairs with other women were confirmed when she was reached out to by another woman on April 17, 2025, who had reportedly also provided proof of Dayal cheating and speaking to multiple other women. The Ghaziabad-based woman also stated that she is aware of Dayal having affairs with at least three other women. "I could have walked away, but how would I know he was cheating? He never showed it. I left it to God, but when his family started speaking badly about me, I decided to take legal steps," the woman said, as per the report. "I had left him to God's mercy, but after that Yash Dayal and his family spoke very badly. There is a thing called self-respect in love, which girls lose. "I am also fighting for the little girl with whom Yash Dayal did wrong. Yash Dayal is hiding, let him stay hidden. This is what his family and he have done," she added. When it comes to cricket, Dayal won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), whilst he was also part of the India Test team in 2024.

Stock trading scam: Retired software employee duped of Rs 3 crore in Hyderabad; added to WhatsApp group run by fake brokerage firm CEO
HYDERABAD: A 67-year-old retired software employee was duped for Rs 3 crore by fraudsters posing as representatives of a well-known Delhi-based stock trading firm. In his complaint to the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), the victim from Lalaguda alleged that in mid-April he was added to a WhatsApp group administered by a fraudster posing as Anu Prita Daga, who claimed to represent the CEO of a Delhi-based stock brokerage firm. The group, with 60 members, persuaded investors to open Over-The-Counter (OTC) trading accounts on their web platforms such as and assuring them that all transactions were reported to SEBI and RBI. Later, the fraudsters announced that they were underwriting the initial public offer of a health tech firm and, through their manipulated portal, allotted shares worth Rs 49 crore in the victim's name and started pressuring him to make payment. The victim became suspicious as the total value of the IPO was Rs 55 crore. The victim then directly contacted the health tech firm which issued the IPO and also SEBI to verify the documents sent by the fraudsters and realised that he was duped. Based on his complaint, TGCSB Headquarters police in Hyderabad registered a case under section 66-D of the IT Act and Sections 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 319(2) (cheating by personation), and 338 (Forgery of valuable security, will, etc.) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on Saturday. "The defrauded amount was transferred to multiple accounts and withdrawn. We are analysing the bank transactions to identify the accused," said a police official.

New political alliance 'Peoples Alliance for Change' launched in Kashmir
SRINAGAR: Three Kashmir-based political parties have come together to form a new political alliance named the Peoples Alliance for Change. The alliance comprises the Peoples Conference, led by MLA Sajjad Gani Lone; the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), headed by former MLA Hakim Mohammad Yasin; and the Justice & Development Front (JDF), a newly-formed party comprising former members of the now-banned Jamaat-e-Islami. The announcement was made at a press conference in Srinagar by JDF President Shamim Ahmad Thoker, who emphasised the alliance's aim to work collectively for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while maintaining consistency in political messaging.
