Seattle Man Arrested In Connection To String Of Athlete Burglaries
A Seattle man has been charged with a series of burglaries at the homes of prominent current and former football and baseball players.
Earl Henderson Riley IV, 21, faces multiple counts of residential burglary and first-degree robbery, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors allege that Riley led a theft spree beginning in February, targeting athletes' homes while they were away for games and other events.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, multiple athletes have reported burglaries during various events, leading authorities to suspect that these cases could all be connected.
Dallas athletes who have reported break-ins while away from their homes include Stars forward Tyler Seguin and former Maverick Luka Doncic, though it remains unclear if Riley was connected to these crimes.
The stolen items associated with the allegations against Riley include over $6,000 in Louis Vuitton bags from Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo's residence, more than $194,000 worth of high-end purses and jewelry from center fielder Julio Rodríguez's home, and several watches valued at over $100,000 from former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's house, according to ABC News.
King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion said in a statement about the arrest that the office 'worked for weeks on multiple search warrants that led to the filing of these felony charges today.'
'I am grateful for the excellent work from our deputy prosecutors and from police investigators on these home burglaries, and all burglaries filed in King County. All people deserve to feel safe in their homes, and our office will continue to hold people accountable for criminal behavior.'
This investigation is ongoing, and there are additional charges that could be added at a later time.
Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Gary Ernsdorff said in the statement that this arrest 'doesn't mean our work is finished,' and everyone else involved will be pursued.
'We still want to go and identify everybody who was involved and see if there are additional people that we can have sufficient evidence to charge.'
Riley is currently being held in King County Jail on a $1 million bail for the charges associated with this investigation.
Similar incidents across the country have prompted multiple professional sports leagues, including both the NBA and NFL, to issue warnings to players about the potential for break-ins during events.

She also spoke on the fact that the Biden administration previously failed to secure the border allowing criminals like Garcia to continue to impact America negatively. 'What has changed is Donald Trump is now President of the United States, and our borders are again secure, and thanks to the bright light that has been shined on Abrego Garcia, this investigation continued with actually amazing police work, and we were able to track this case and stop this international smuggling ring from continuing,' Bondi told reporters. The indictment outlines a chilling picture: Garcia allegedly made multiple trips smuggling high numbers of illegal aliens – including minors – across the border, treating children as commodities for profit, according to Bondi. Co-conspirators allege that Garcia also engaged in sexual exploitation of minors, human trafficking, and that his ring was connected to the tragic deaths of over 50 migrants in 2021- highlighted by a sad incident accounted for by American officials after a tractor trailer overturned in Mexico. Bondi also vowed that Garcia will be prosecuted in the U.S., imprisoned if convicted, and deported after serving his sentence. She thanked the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and local authorities for their tireless work to track down the man. From Donor Dollars To Detained: Waters' SEIU Buddy Faces ICE, She Faces Door
When Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters attempted to check on David Huerta, the SEIU California president who was arrested during the Los Angeles riots, she was essentially trying to meet an official of one of her largest donor organizations, The Dallas Express has learned. Amid the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, officials arrested Huerta on June 6 for obstructing a warrant. Huerta is the president of the California branch of SEIU, a national public union that overwhelmingly Democrats. Waters tried to check on Huerta on June 8, but officers shut the door in her face. SEIU was the third-highest contributor to Waters' campaign committee from 2023 to 2024, according to OpenSecrets. While the union itself cannot give directly to candidates, individuals or PACS affiliated with the union have given $57,500 total to Waters' campaigns since 2016. After Waters was denied access to the Los Angeles building where Huerta was being detained, she said she wanted to 'report back to my caucus' on his situation. 'He is the head of SEIU local union here,' Waters said in a video at the time. 'I don't know why he was targeted, I don't know what they're doing with him, I don't know whether they're going to deport him.' Gov. Gavin Newsom, also a Democrat, denounced Huerta's arrest at the time, as The Dallas Express reported. 'David Huerta is a respected leader, a patriot, and an advocate for working people. No one should ever be harmed for witnessing government action,' Newsom wrote on X. SEIU was the contributor to Newsom's campaign committee in 2022, the year he won reelection, according to OpenSecrets. That cycle alone, individuals or PACs associated with the union gave $154,300 to support Newsom's reelection. The day before Waters tried to access Huerta, Attorney General Pam Bondi warned rioters in Los Angeles: 'It doesn't matter if you're a judge, a member of Congress, or a protestor in Los Angeles: If you obstruct or assault a law enforcement officer, this Department of Justice will prosecute you.' President Donald Trump has since deployed the National Guard to protect ICE operations in Los Angeles, as The Dallas Express reported. Elon Musk also called out the riots: 'This is not ok.' According to CBS 8, Newsom announced June 8 the state is suing Trump for his efforts to quell the violence.
