Queensland Governor Jeannette Young was expected to present Order of Australia Medals to 11 people, including Lloyd and Suzanne Clarke – the parents of Hannah Clarke – for their contributions to domestic violence support. The Clarkes have campaigned heavily to bring Queensland's coercive control laws into play.
Also receiving Order of Australia Medals will be Paralympics gold-medallists Emily Beecroft and Korey Boddington.
Another 10 Queenslanders were set to receive Commendations for Brave Conduct, including the three men – Peter Buxton, Crispin McCorry and Aguek Nyok – who helped passengers escape a burning Brisbane bus in Moorooka after the driver was attacked and killed in 2016.
The two ceremonies will follow the first round of honours and commendations awarded yesterday, which included 15-year-old Olympian Arisa Trew, from the Gold Coast, who received a Medal of the Order of Australia for her Olympic gold medals in skateboarding last year.

Series of cold fronts targeting country's southern coastline over next three days as Queensland expected to shiver

A series of cold fronts is set to sweep through multiple southern states bringing much needed rain for drought-affected farmers while Queensland is expected to shiver on Friday. On Friday Western Australia will receive some showers as a cold front moves across the nation's south over the course of the weekend, giving much-needed rain for drought-affected farmers. Sky News Meteorologist Marina Neuman said Perth should expect a few showers on Friday until a cold front moves through targeting Australia's south. "Still dry conditions now, just a few very light, spotty showers targeting Perth, but the better chance tomorrow as that cold front begins to move in... this is just going to be the precursor to the better chance for rain fall heading into the weekend," she said. Rain looks to fall over dry areas in South Australia and parts of western Victoria, however Neuman said it will unfortunately be low rain totals. A series of fronts look to move across the southern coastline sweeping through Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and parts of Tasmania. The Bureau of Meteorology said the cold front will push through South Australia with a burst of showers sweeping through western Victoria, before it weakens on Sunday. "The cold front will push across the Bight during Friday evening, and reach South Australia during Saturday with a burst of showers. Showers are forecast for Adelaide, the Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas, and southern agricultural areas," the BOM said. "Showers will reach western Victoria on Saturday night, but gradually weaken into Sunday as the cold front moves southwards." The best chance of rain will be for SA's coast bringing upwards of at least 10mm of showers across Saturday and Sunday. Over the next seven days the southern half of WA could expect 30mm, 50mm across Tasmania, 25mm for South Australia, and the northern tropics could receive 50mm. 'So, this is once again, very nice rainfall totals, especially for those agricultural parts of South Australia as we deal with ongoing drought conditions there,' Neuman said. Meanwhile, another round of frost is on the way for Queenslanders as the state shivers into the weekend. It is set to be another cold morning for the Sunshine State on Friday with minimum temperatures expected to hit Roma with -1, Longreach 2C, Toowoomba and Mount Isa 3C. 'For now, another chilly night for the coastline, Rockhampton expected to see six degrees overnight, Bundaberg at six degrees as well, even Brisbane, eight degrees, I know that's very uncomfortable for everybody, but Queenslanders especially,' Neuman said. 'So, another chilly evening and likely some frost for your Friday morning.' This week Queensland faced some unfamiliar conditions with the coldest night of the year to date recorded. On Wednesday morning a minimum of -4.4C hit the small rural town of Injune, while the mercury fell to -3.6C at Kingaroy, reaching the same low as Roma on Tuesday morning.

Cold weather sweeps through major Australian cities with mercury set to plunge throughout the week

The mercury looks set to plunge throughout the week for most Australian cities with frosty mornings on the way as winter ramps up. Clear skies appear set to bring cold temperatures to much of the country on Wednesday, with frost likely in several regions. The odd, patchy shower could occur across New South Wales, although the coast is forecast to remain clear and dry. Elsewhere, light showers could sprinkle over parts of southern Victoria and eastern Tasmania. 'Extensive frosts looking possible across parts of central Queensland, northern Victoria, southern New South Wales, and parts of Tassie as well,' Sky News Australia Meteorologist Alison Osborne said. 'As for Queenslanders it's looking particularly nippy for you. Down to minus one in Roma tomorrow, four degrees in Toowoomba, one degree in Longreach to kick off your Wednesday, and just nine degrees in Brisbane.' Chilly temperatures are expected for most cities, with highs of 19 forecast for Brisbane, 18 for Sydney, 14 in Melbourne, and 13 for Canberra. Frosty mornings are forecast to stick around throughout the week, with clear skies set to deliver cold nights. 'Believe it or not, it's not the wettest weather or the cloudiest weather that brings the coldest conditions during winter in Australia, it is the clearest weather - clear, cold nights,' Ms Osborne said. 'The temperature is dropping very quickly with no blanket of cloud to prevent that heat escaping. 'Overall, most of the country is expecting clear winter nights this week. What this means is very cold winter nights, temperatures dropping quickly as soon as the sun goes down.' Parts of Western Australia and areas stretching from central Queensland to Tasmania should expect morning frost from Thursday through to the weekend, although some regions could see a brief reprieve on Friday due to an increase in cloud and windier conditions. Frost is normal for the start of winter in June, bringing the threat of damage to crops in rural areas. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Frost Warning for the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East, Central, and East Gippsland forecast districts in Victoria and the Riverland, Upper South East and Lower South East forecast districts in South Australia. The Bureau warned 'temperatures at ground level can be many degrees lower than those recorded by standard weather stations, especially in calm conditions with clear skies'. In addition to frost, parts of the nation's south are forecast to see rainfall later in the week. A cold front and low are expected to push into SA on Thursday, which is likely to bring widespread rain before weakening over the following days. 'The mostly dry weather continues for most of the county on Thursday, but we are watching some showers, likely to develop over the New South Wales and the Victorian Gippsland coasts, of less than five milimetres. Widespread falls through South Australia are likely to be under five (milimitres) as well, so nothing too heavy there,' Ms Osborne said. Patchy showers are expected across the nation over the weekend, with a front likely to sweep across SA and Victoria bringing rain and cloudy conditions.
