Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre records 34.5% growth in real estate transactions to Dh25.3bn+ in Q1 2025

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre, an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi, has reported that total transaction value grew by 34.5 percent to Dh25.3 billion across 6,896 deals in the first quarter of 2025 in the emirate, compared to Dh18.82billion from 5,773 transactions in the same period of 2024.Buy and sell transactions totalled Dh15.51 billion through 3,819 transactions, reflecting a 26.7 percent increase in value and an 11 percent rise in volume compared to the first quarter of 2024. Mortgage transactions also recorded strong growth, reaching Dh9.8 billion through 3,077 transactions — a 49 percent year-on-year increase.Saadiyat Island was the leading area for real estate transactions, recording deals amounting to Dh5.6 billion. It was followed by Yas Island, with Dh3.6 billion, and Mohammed Bin Zayed City, with Dh2.1 billion. Al Reem Island and Al Hudayriyat Island recorded over Dh1 billion in transactions.The report highlighted continued activity in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with 384 transactions valued at Dh1.582 billion concluded by investors from 68 nationalities — up from 58 nationalities during the same period last year. This demonstrates growing confidence in Abu Dhabi's real estate market, driven by regulatory policies and government initiatives that enhance its local and global appeal.Acting Director-General of ADREC, Engineer Rashed Al Omaira, said, "ADREC continues to advance a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable real estate ecosystem, driven by digital transformation, reliable data, and continuous collaboration with strategic partners. EMSTEEL transforms steel waste into cement in pioneering sustainability project

Hotel groups doing their bit to save water and energy, reduce waste and single-use plastics
4 June 2025 23:28 MAYS IBRAHIM (ABU DHABI)On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, hotels across the UAE are ramping up efforts to reduce waste, save energy and support local sustainability First Group Hospitality has placed sustainability at the core of its UAE operations. "Through our recycling programme, we have introduced structured waste separation and partnered with Veolia to divert significant volumes of food waste from landfill," Tom Stevens, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations at The First Group Hospitality, told Aletihad . Energy and water-saving systems, solar integration, and a growing network of electric vehicle charging stations are also being introduced across the group's line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Dubai Sustainable Tourism strategy, The First Group Hospitality is also moving away from single-use plastics and embracing sustainably sourced materials in their properties."Our aim is not simply to adapt to shifting expectations, but to lead with purpose and ensure that exceptional hospitality is delivered with lasting environmental responsibility," Stevens Al Jaddaf, part of the global Barceló Hotel Group, is equally committed to local impact and environmental to Eduardo Espiritusanto, General Manager of Barceló Al Jaddaf, the hotel sources at least half of its fruit and vegetables from local producers. Repeat", where each 1,000kg of collected cartons funds the planting of a tree in partnership with the Emirates Environmental Group."Beyond plastic reduction, we support the nation's broader sustainability goals through energy-efficient technologies, such as 100% LED lighting, motion-sensor fixtures, 3M heat-resistant window film, and a Building Management System that optimises cooling," Yazoglu hotel also offers on-site electric vehicle charging stations and converts non-recyclable waste into energy, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality under its "No Waste to Landfill" policy.
