Deputies seek suspect in brutal attack on woman
The Washington County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a man they said brutally attacked a woman Monday afternoon.
According to deputies, they received a call around 5:20 p.m. from a passerby stating he had found a victim of a brutal attack on Douglas Ferry Road.
After further investigation, deputies said the victim told law enforcement that 40-year-old David Earl Gipson, of Caryville, had visited her residence, became irate, and attacked her.
He allegedly bound, gagged, beat her, and threatened to kill her with a handgun.
Deputies said Gibson then took the victim to his residence, where he continued to abuse her before putting her in a container outside in his yard.
Deputies say the woman was able to escape and made her way to Douglas Ferry Road, where she was found. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
Gipson has active warrants for sexual battery, aggravated battery with a weapon, and false imprisonment and is believed to be traveling in a purple 2001 PT Cruiser with the tag number QUER21.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information concerning Gipson's whereabouts to contact them at (850) 638-6111. You may also report anonymously by calling (850) 638-TIPS (8477) or by email at tips@wsco.us.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Hayes Minor, 53, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Sunday night on charges of DWI, speeding and following too close. He was released around three hours later on a $1,105 bond. A preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said around 11 p.m. on June 11, a deputy was driving on Interstate 49 near mile marker 62 when they saw a car driving faster than the 55 mph speed limited posted. The driver, later identified as Minor was reportedly driving a Cadillac Escalade 72 mph. The deputy said in the report that a strong odor of intoxicants was coming from the vehicle. Minor told the deputy that he was leaving a baseball game and drank two beers over the course of the game. The deputy had Minor step out of the vehicle and he reportedly swayed. Minor's eyes were bloodshot and watery, according to the report. Minor took field sobriety tests and a breath sample test which indicated a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .109, above the legal limit. Minor currently serves on the Roger City Council, representing Ward 3, Position 2. He was selected in December 2024 after winning a runoff election against Alicia Hayes.
