Social media reacts to Alabama's second round SEC Tournament loss vs. Tennessee

After a 4-1 victory over Missouri on Tuesday morning, the Alabama Crimson Tide advanced to the second round of the 2025 SEC Tournament in Hoover on Wednesday afternoon where they collided with the defending champions, the Tennessee Volunteers.
A back-and-forth contest between the SEC's No. 8 and No. 9 seeds, both of Alabama and Tennessee were playing to improve their chances at potentially hosting a regional in the NCAA Tournament, along with deciding who will be advancing to the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday against regular season champion Texas.

To get things started Wednesday afternoon, Tennessee struck for a run in the first, as well as another in the second, to take an early 2-0 on Alabama starter Aedan Finateri. The Crimson Tide would get on the board in the top of the fourth via a Richie Bonomolo Jr. RBI double as well, but Tennessee immediately struck for three runs in the bottom of that inning, building a commanding 5-1 lead.
However, Alabama came roaring back with a five-run top of the fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead in the game, capped by a two-RBI double from Bonomolo. Alabama also scored two runs during the inning via a Tennessee throwing error, and this seemed to be a potential turning point in the matchup.
That thought quickly changed however, as Tennessee tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, and went on to build a commanding 11-6 lead via a five-run sixth inning. The Volunteers also added four more runs in the eighth inning, followed by four from Alabama in the ninth, with Tennessee going on to win by a final score of 15-10.
A game in which the Crimson Tide were out-hit a combined 20-10, here is a look at some reactions on social media Wednesday afternoon to Alabama's loss against Tennessee in the second round of the SEC Tournament.

Insider reveals Steelers HC Mike Tomlin 'led the charge' to sign Aaron Rodgers

Insider reveals Steelers HC Mike Tomlin 'led the charge' to sign Aaron Rodgers Mike Tomlin isn't done channeling his inner Pittsburgh GM — as insider Jeremy Fowler reported that the long-time Steelers head coach "led the charge" to sign Aaron Rodgers. On ESPN's SportsCenter, Fowler was asked how the Steelers finally got Rodgers' pen to paper — and this is what he had to say: "Mike Tomlin led the charge to bring that man, Aaron Rodgers, to the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm told they had several meaningful conversations over recent weeks and months to hash all this out," Fowler explained. "I was told that things started to intensify Thursday morning inside the Steelers' building. That's where people there felt, 'Okay, this is gonna get done,' and there was a sense of relief — because they really hadn't gotten a full assurance just yet." There were previous reports that Tomlin may have been behind the George Pickens trade as well — but if the Rodgers-Steelers union works out, there will be no complaints over the head coach's extracurricular general managing duties. Cooper Witten, son of Dallas Cowboys legend, to camp at Notre Dame

The son of an NFL legend will have a chance to shine at Notre Dame's Irish Invasion event this weekend. Top Fighting Irish target Cooper Witten will be at the program's signature recruiting event along with a bevy of other top prospects who have been on ND's radar. Advertisement The Class of 2027 five-star linebacker from Liberty Christian (Argyle, TX) grew up watching his father, Jason, excel in a likely Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders. After retirement, Witten became the head coach at Liberty Christian, where Cooper and his older brother CJ attend. He led the program to back to back state championships in 2023 and 2024. The 6-foot and 3-inch, 210-pound younger Witten earned an offer from Clemson Wednesday after showcasing his skills at the Dabo Swinney football camp. Witten moves with ease and has run a 10.91-second 100 meters. His elite closing speed and football instincts make him one of the premiere defenders in his class. His offer list includes heavy hitters outside of Notre Dame, including Alabama, Michigan, Texas and his father's alma mater, Tennessee. In his sophomore season, he had 45 tackles, five interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and seven receiving scores on offense. UNC football announces start times to key games

The anticipation is building for North Carolina's 2025 football season, the first under new head coach Bill Belichick. With spring practices over and a lot of activity in the transfer portal, Belichick has a good view of his roster as it stands now. We also know the schedule already for the Tar Heels as kickoff is just a few months away. But now, we are getting more information on games this season. Advertisement On Thursday, the program announced the start time for four more games this season: Week 2: AT Charlotte, 7 p.m. ET (Sept. 6) Week 3: vs. Richmond, 3:30 p.m. ET (Sept. 13) Week 8: AT CAL, 10:30 p.m. ET (Oct. 17) Week 10: AT Syracuse, 7:30 p.m. ET (Oct. 31) The games against Cal and Syracuse are scheduled to be broadcasted live on ESPN, while the Charlotte game will be on ESPN+ and the Richmond game on ACC Network. With Belichick being the new head coach, there is a lot of attention on North Carolina so the addition of two more primetime games isn't shocking. And they will likely have more. As we knew before, UNC will start the season in primetime against TCU, hosting the Horned Frogs on Labor Day at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The rest of the kickoff times for games will be announced at a later date.
