Hurricanes receive transfer portal pledge from running back who excelled at FCS level
The Miami Hurricanes' success in the spring transfer portal continued Wednesday, with UM receiving a commitment from North Dakota State running back CharMar Brown.
Brown, who just finished his redshirt freshman season and has three years of eligibility remaining, was the Jerry Rice Award winner last season as the top FCS freshman after rushing for 1,181 yards and 15 touchdowns on 244 carries (4.84 yards per carry) to help lead North Dakota State to an FCS championship.
He chose Miami over the likes of Nebraska and Cal.
Brown, listed at 5-11 and 218 pounds, adds another proven running back to the Hurricanes' room that is expected to be led by junior Mark Fletcher Jr. and sophomore Jordan Lyle. True freshman Girard Pringle and redshirt freshman Chris Wheatley-Humphrey round out the group.
Brown is Miami's fifth addition via the spring transfer portal, all of whom have committed during the past five days. The others: linebacker Kamal Bonner from NC State, kicker Bert Auburn from Texas, wide receiver Keelan Marion from BYU and wide receiver Tony Johnson from Cincinnati.

This is the seventh super regional hosted by Louisville. The Cardinals have appeared in 10 super regionals overall. Miami is playing in the super regional round for the 13th time and the first since 2016. The Hurricanes (34-26) and Cardinals (39-21) finished ninth and 10th in the ACC regular season.

The Miami Hurricanes dropped game one of the NCAA Louisville Super Regional, falling 8-1 Friday at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville.
