In a wide-ranging interview, Rob Hersov has defended Donald Trump's policy impact, called South Africa's current leadership 'racist and kleptocratic,' and urged America to back the DA-led Western Cape over the ANC.
As always, capitalist activist Hersov pulled no punches in his discussion with BizNews editor Alec Hogg.
Hersov mentioned his desire for America to back the Western Cape around the 10-minute mark of the 24-minute interview.

Meanwhile, in another video, Hersov said South Africa wasn't stolen; it was given away to the ANC, who dismantled a thriving nation through corruption, incompetence, and greed.
In his most recent video on his new YouTube channel Rob Hersov – The Unvarnished Truth , Hersov says it's time to stop making excuses and start demanding real leadership to rebuild the country's future.
In 1994, South Africa wasn't stolen, it was gifted to the ANC and they've run the country straight into the dirt.
The ANC inherited the best run country in Africa. Roads, water, electricity, infrastructure, all functioning.
The world adored Madiba. Every nation wanted to help. Infrastructure worked, institutions functioned, people had hope.
Instead of sending the best minds abroad to learn and return, the ANC sent their friends to loot the country.
Let's fast forward 30 years since 1994.
Unemployment well over 30%, youth unemployment over 60% – the worst in the world.
Eskom in collapse. Load shedding has cost the country R900 billion. Transnet? Logistical disaster. Education we're ranked 75th out of 76 countries globally. What a joke!
Hospitals underfunded and overcrowded and skilled immigration, over a million South Africans have gone.
This wasn't caused by apartheid, it wasn't caused by colonial residue, it wasn't whiteness, it was pure ANC incompetence, corruption and greed.
Working systems were dismantled without a plan, experts replaced with loyalists – the cadres – public money stolen in the name of empowerment.
It's policy by ideology, not reality.
The ANC talks about liberation, but all they've delivered us is devastation.
And now, ANC foot soldiers are still blaming white men who died 300 years ago while corrupt ANC cadres in office are destroying what's left.
South Africa didn't collapse, it's been dismantled one ministry, one state-owned enterprise at a time.
And we let it happen.
Where's the outrage? Where's the accountability? how long before we're too far gone?
South Africa didn't fall, it was pushed – and it was pushed by ANC incompetence, corruption and a lot of cowardice from South Africans.
We've got to stop tolerating failure, stop rewarding mediocrity and start demanding results.
And the path forward? We know it: Replace the ANC, rebuild on merit and train leaders not looters.
Send the best and brightest abroad to learn and then bring them home to lead.
And the stakes, we do nothing? South Africa is on the edge of becoming another failed state.
Take action (and) we reclaim this incredible nation which is full of potential. No more nostalgia, no more excuses. Time to act. This country belongs to you and not the ANC. Let's take it back.

Robert Basil Hersov, born on 9 October 1960 in Johannesburg, is a business executive and entrepreneur.
His grandfather, Bob Hersov, was the founder of AngloVaal, one of Southern Africa's largest mining and industrial companies.
His father, Basil Hersov, ran the company from 1973 to 2001.
The family sold AngloVaal in the 1990s.
Rob Hersov serves as chairman and CEO (and founder) of Invest Africa, Chairman and Partner (and founder) of African Capital Investments, and Chairman of the VistaJet Advisory Board.
His parents are Basil Edward Hersov and Antoinette.
Hersov matriculated from Michaelhouse in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.
In 1982 he studied at the University of Cape Town and obtained a B.Bus.Sci degree. In 1989 he obtained his MBA from Harvard Business School.
He began his career at Goldman Sachs in New York and then became head of the European media investment banking team at Morgan Stanley in London.
From 1989 to 1991 he was business development manager at News Corporation in New York for chairman Rupert Murdoch.
After this he became a board member of the luxury goods company Richemont SA, and also managed FilmNet.
He then became CEO of Telepiu Srl in Milan, Italy's largest pay-TV company, belonging to the Mediaset media group, where he was also a member of the board of directors, until August 1997.
In 1999, he started his own business as an investor and entrepreneur. In September 1999, he co-founded Antfactory; in November 1999, he helped found Peoplenews.com.
In 2021, he acquired Fisantekraal Airport, west of Durbanville, and renamed it 'Cape Winelands Airport'.
He aims to develop it into a vibrant airport and secondary hub for Cape Town.

Former Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has died at the age of 68, with his final days clouded by political tension, medical struggles, and serious allegations of state-sponsored persecution. Lungu passed away on Thursday in a South African hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness. However, the official silence on the cause of death and mounting accusations from his political allies have sparked a storm of controversy, including claims that the former head of state may have been poisoned to prevent him from contesting the 2026 presidential elections. Lungu, who served as Zambia's sixth president from 2015 to 2021, had announced a political comeback in late 2023 after years of relative quiet following his electoral defeat to current President Hakainde Hichilema (popularly known as HH). But what began as a bid to return to the ballot box quickly turned into a contentious and, some claim, dangerous standoff with the ruling administration. A Contested Comeback Lungu's return to politics was met with immediate resistance from the Hichilema-led government. In December 2024, the Constitutional Court ruled that Lungu was ineligible to contest again, arguing that his first, partial term from 2015 to 2016 counted as a full term under Zambia's constitutional two-term limit. Lungu's legal team and supporters decried the judgment as politically motivated, pointing to his widespread popularity among grassroots voters and within opposition coalitions as a threat to the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND). But critics say the court ruling was just the beginning of a broader campaign to shut Lungu out of national politics. Stripped of Protection and Benefits Soon after his political re-entry, Lungu was stripped of all retirement benefits typically afforded to former heads of state. These included state-provided security, official transportation, medical support, and diplomatic privileges. The government justified the move by citing a legal provision that bars retired presidents from engaging in politics if they wish to retain those benefits. While technically legal, the action had far-reaching consequences for Lungu's safety and well-being. Without state protection, his movements were left exposed. More alarmingly, his access to healthcare, particularly urgent specialist treatment, was severely limited. Sources within the Patriotic Front (PF), Lungu's party, say repeated requests for travel permits to receive medical care abroad were delayed or denied.'He was denied not only political freedom but medical care too,' said a senior PF official. 'When it became clear that he needed to leave for urgent treatment, the government stalled. That decision may have cost him his life.' Allegations of Poisoning With the cause of Lungu's death yet to be officially confirmed, speculation is growing that he may have been deliberately poisoned. Though no forensic evidence has been made public, the PF is calling for an independent international investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. His daughter, Tasila Lungu-Mwansa, confirmed in a public statement that her father had been unwell for weeks and had travelled to South Africa under medical supervision. However, she also alluded to the family's belief that his condition may have been the result of "external interference" — a veiled reference to suspected foul play. PF leaders have taken a more direct stance. 'This was not a natural death,' said Brian Mundubile, a close ally of Lungu. 'We believe this was orchestrated to eliminate him politically and permanently.' Restricted Movement and Surveillance Beyond the courtroom and hospital bed, Lungu's daily life was increasingly policed. Police were reportedly stationed outside his home, monitoring his activities and restricting public engagements. Even routine morning jogs and Sunday church services were flagged as political activity and discouraged or blocked by law enforcement.'It was humiliation, plain and simple,' said one family confidant. 'He was a former president being treated like a common criminal just for exercising and praying.' Human rights activists and opposition figures have condemned the government's treatment of Lungu as not only unconstitutional but dangerous for Zambia's democratic fabric. 'What happened to President Lungu sets a dangerous precedent,' said a representative of the Zambia Human Rights Commission. 'If a former president can be silenced this way, what protection exists for the ordinary citizen?'

City of Johannesburg councillor allegedly used municipality's BMW X3 for political activities in KZN, says DA

A court ruling this year stripped most members of the mayoral committee of their bodyguards and luxury official vehicles. The DA in Johannesburg is requesting an urgent investigation into the use of a city-owned luxury vehicle by one of the members of the Government of Local Unity (GLU) for party activities. The party claims that one of the members of the mayoral committee travelled to KwaZulu-Natal last weekend using the City's BMW X3. This vehicle was part of the security detail for members of the mayoral committee before the South Gauteng High Court put an end to the City's controversial VIP Protection Policy. In a statement, DA shadow MMC for Public Safety, Solomon Maila, said the mayor should investigate if the implicated councillor is in contempt of court. 'The DA in Johannesburg has written to Executive Mayor Dada Morero to ensure that a full investigation is conducted into allegations that a member of his Mayoral Committee travelled to the eThekwini area in KwaZulu-Natal for party-political activities during the weekend of 30 May to 1 June 2025 using the City's official BMW without consent. 'The DA understands that this vehicle was procured as part of the City's implementation of the VIP Protection Policy that was declared unconstitutional and invalid Gauteng High Court on 2 January 2025,' he said. The municipality bank card is used for fuel Maila said whistleblowers had informed them that the BMW X3 had been refuelled twice over the weekend when it was in use at the ratepayers' expense. 'Which suggests that it travelled for more than 1000 km in that period. 'According to the DA's sources in the city, the First National Bank (FNB) card linked to the said vehicle was used for the refueling and the payment of tollgates to and from KwaZulu-Natal,' Maila said. He said this was an abuse of municipal resources if the allegations are true. 'These allegations point to a possible unlawful use of a motor vehicle without the necessary consent. If proven, these allegations would mean that the said MMC has also acted in contempt of the High Court, which is another criminal offence,' he said. The DA says it wants the mayor to investigate the movements of the vehicle between May 30 and June 1, 2025. 'The DA will not rest until there is full accountability. Criminal charges must be laid against the implicated MMC and every municipal official in the city who aided and abetted the MMC in the commission of these alleged criminal offences.
