He is also godfather to the couple's daughter Lilibet - which royal expert Hugo Vickers believes reflects a strong friendship.
Earlier this week Tyler Perry was sued for sexual assault and harassment by fellow actor Derek Dixon, which Perry's team has denied as "a scam".
Now, royal experts believe Meghan will turn her back on her former friend amidst a sexual assault claim.
Speaking on The Sun's Royal show, expert Samara Gill has suggested that the allegations against Perry could damage the Sussexes' brand.
Samara said: "There's nothing very Christian about a sexual assault claim and I think it's just one other damaging thing to add to their now-war chest of things that have been a problem for them."
She added: "I think it shows the type of people that Meghan likes to surround herself with and I think it is damaging to their brand yet again because he was meant to be their closest friend."
Samara also pointed out that the couple had made the most of Perry's wealth - including his home, and his plane - when they left the royal family in 2020.
Now though, she thinks the couple will be keen to distance themselves from the alleged abuser.
She added: "Just watch how quickly they go."
Samara criticised the couple's hypocrisy, as they cut off toxicity "even though they're the ones who are really toxic."
It's part of a pattern of behaviour that Samara said reflects their eagerness to use people before throwing them aside.
Meghan's kids will be SO angry when they grow up & realise how they were used by her
Perry previously let the couple stay in his $18 million LA home after they left the UK in 2020.
At the time, he spoke on Today with Hoda and Jenna about his decision to let them stay at the lavish property.
Perry said: "It was a very difficult time for them. What I know about the two of them, and I wish the world knew, how much these two people love each other."
More recently, Tyler appeared in the Meghan's new Netflix show.
Earlier this week Tyler Perry was sued for sexual assault and harassment by fellow actor Derek Dixon.
The lawsuit claims $260 million in damages for harassment that occurred over several years.
Dixon alleges that Perry repeatedly sent sexually suggestive texts, despite Dixon making it clear he wasn't interested.
This later progressed to Perry groping Dixon in July 2021, the lawsuit alleges.
Finally, Dixon filed a complaint with the Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission in June 2024, before leaving his role in The Oval.
Matthew Boyd, an attorney for Perry, gave the following statement to PEOPLE.
He said: "This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam.
"But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail."

Meghan launches new jams and £20 orange blossom honey in website restock

Meghan had promised some 'delicious surprises' as she teased, earlier this week, that she would be offering some new products on her As Ever site. Also available are an apricot spread in 'keepsake packaging' and a crepe mix, both £10 each, flower sprinkles for £11 and a range of herbal teas at £9 each. In an Instagram post at the same time as the new products went live, the California-based duchess wrote: 'Yummies, and honeys, and fruit spreads, oh my!' Meghan previously said the April launch of her As Ever products, including jam and herbal tea, had been 'absolutely extraordinary'. But she also spoke of her fear that she annoyed customers when the first batch of her jam and herbal teas sold out in less than an hour. She said wanted to wait until it is 'completely stable and we have everything we need'. In the run-up to her re-stock, Meghan shared a photo of jam-making preparations including bowls of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, and freshly squeezed lemons, on her Instagram stories, writing: ''June gloom?' Not over here! Because this month your favourite products are back.' Her official As Ever account also posted: 'To all who've been wondering and waiting, thank you! 'Your favourites are returning, plus a few NEW things we can't wait to show you. Coming this month … get excited!'

Jessica said she is a 100% sure that he didn't go on Celebs Go Dating to find love. Advertisement "He lied to me the entire time we were together. It was horrendous," she said. "Every single thing was an act. I feel like I was completely led the entire time," Jessica told the paper. "He told me that 'it's nothing to do with love and it's only for the fame'," she recalled him saying. Kerry Katona's love life timeline Kerry's first high-profile relationship was with Brian McFadden, who was then a member of the Irish boyband Westlife. The couple married in 2002 and had two daughters together, Molly and Lilly-Sue, but divorce beckoned just four years later after infidelity claims. In 2007, Kerry married Mark Croft, a former taxi driver. Their relationship was tumultuous and marked by financial difficulties and accusations of infidelity. They had two children together, Heidi and Maxwell, before divorcing in 2011. Kerry has spoken openly about the difficulties she faced during this period, including struggles with her mental health and substance abuse. Following this, she entered into a relationship with George Kay, a former professional rugby league player. They married in 2014 and had a daughter, Dylan-Jorge (DJ). However, their relationship was fraught with issues, including horrifying domestic abuse, and they separated in 2017. Kay died in 2019 after 'biting into a ball of cocaine'. Kerry later found love again with Ryan Mahoney, a fitness trainer. The couple became engaged in 2020, and Kerry described Ryan as a stabilising and positive influence in her life. After increasing speculation late in 2024, Kerry revealed they had split over a "breach in trust" and Ryan had moved out of her home. He is also alleged to have told her: "I promise you, everyone goes on the show for fame and I'm just doing the same'." Jessica and Paolo started their relationship after he randomly messaged her on Instagram, with their bond blooming after several dates. Advertisement While Paolo was on the dating show, he allegedly sent Jessica, who he told he wanted to marry, loved up messages. During the filming of the show in April and May, Paolo continued to send Jessica lovey-dovey texts, despite seemingly forming a bond with Kerry. Jessica said he eventually admitted to filming the programme. Speaking to the paper, she revealed: "I asked him, do you expect me to sit at home and watch this and still be with you and he replied: 'I hope you will do that but it's completely down to you.'
