Earlier today, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane bound for New Delhi returned to its origin of Hong Kong as a precautionary measure after a technical issue was suspected mid-air.
AI315 "returned to Hong Kong shortly after take-off due to a technical issue. The flight landed safely ... and is undergoing checks as a matter of abundant precaution," Air India said in a statement.
Live Events
The incidents come days after an Air India flight to London, using a Boeing aircraft, crashed in Ahmedabad moments after take-off, killing 241 of the 242 people on board.
AI315 made a return to Hong Kong International Airport after requesting local standby at around 1 p.m. (0500 GMT) and "landed safely at around 1:15 p.m.", the spokesperson of Airport Authority Hong Kong said. The airport operations were not affected, the spokesperson added.
Flight AI315 took off from Hong Kong at around 12:20 p.m. and landed just around an hour later. It reached an altitude of 22,000 feet, and then started descending, according to flight tracking website AirNav Radar. The plane was 7 years old.
Last week's crash brings a new challenge for both Air India, which has for years been trying to revamp its fleet, and Boeing, which is trying to rebuild public trust following a series of safety and production crises.

NU appoints 4 new deans on temporary basis

Nagpur: The Nagpur University has appointed four new deans, including two women, on temporary basis after the tenure of full-time incumbents ended on Saturday. Among the new temporary deans, Shyamrao Koreti was retained to helm the faculty of humanities, a position he held for the last five years on full-time basis. Koreti is a professor in NU's postgraduate history department. Professor of postgraduate education department, Rajashri Vaishnaw, made a comeback as dean of interdisciplinary studies faculty — a charge she held under then vice-chancellor SP Kane until 2020. Vaishnaw replaces engineering college principal Prashant Kadu. Medha Kanetkar, principal of Shree Niketan Arts and Commerce College, has been delegated the charge of commerce and management faculty. Postgraduate physics department professor Umesh Palikundwar will be in-charge of science and technology faculty. These teachers replaced Sanjay Kavishwar and Prashant Maheswari, respectively. In its order on Monday, NU administration stated that the vice-chancellor has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of dean of the faculty to these teachers under powers as per the provisions of Section 16 of Maharashtra Public Universities Act 2016. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo These teachers would hold the charge from June 16, 2025, till further orders, the order stated. For this, an additional allowance of Rs5,000 per month is being sanctioned to them as per the approval given by the Management Council on June 15. The full-time deans were appointed by then vice-chancellor Subhash Chaudhari, who passed away in September last year. The deans were allowed to continue till the end of the academic year in April, but their terms were extended till June 15, keeping NU's workload in mind. The process of appointing a new vice-chancellor has also picked up pace, with the university planning to soon publish a recruitment advertisement. Once a new VC is appointed, the NU will also get full-time deans and a pro vice-chancellor.

3 contractors fined Rs1cr for failing to level dug-up roads

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) imposed a cumulative fine of Rs1 crore on three contractors for failing to level roads dug up for sewer line works under the Rs900 crore Amrut 2.0 scheme—even after repeated reminders. The penalty, levied for the first time of such proportions, came after months of inaction by M/s Laxmi Civil Engineering Services Pvt Ltd, M/s Kalpataru Engineering and Construction Ltd, and M/s P Das Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. These agencies were tasked with laying a 537km sewerage network across Nagpur, of which 125 km was completed so far. However, over 100km of internal roads, mostly in south-west and south Nagpur, remain in a damaged condition, with dug-up surfaces not restored, causing serious inconvenience to residents and motorists. The contractors failed to comply NMC's repeated directives since February in this regard. Municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari issued a stern ultimatum on May 27, instructing all agencies to restore roads before the onset of monsoon. NMC even roped in VNIT experts who provided specific restoration techniques for tar and cement roads. Yet, no visible action followed. Confirming the development, superintending engineer Shweta Banerjee said the penalty was unavoidable given the flagrant disregard for public safety and official instructions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo With the monsoon already approaching, citizens in affected areas continue to suffer due to cratered lanes and waterlogging risks. The civic body's punitive step signals a tougher stance ahead against negligence in critical infrastructure projects, said sources. However, sources pointed out that road digging for laying cables is still going on in several roads. Despite bringing this to the notice of senior PWD officials, no action is being taken against such contractors digging city roads.

RPF Nagpur Reunites Missing Minor with Family Under Operation Nanhey Farishte

Nagpur: In a heart warming rescue operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Nagpur successfully reunited a three-year-old boy with his mother after he was left behind on a train. The incident occurred in the general coach of Ahmedabad Superfast Express, when the child's mother alighted at Kalamna station to fetch water, only to find the train departing before she could get back on board. At around 2.35pm, the District Security Control Room (DSCR) Nagpur alerted the RPF about the situation. Upon the train's arrival at Nagpur station, a team comprising a head constable and two constables promptly located the minor, who was found crying alone in the coach. The child could only share his first name during gentle inquiries, providing no further details. The RPF team, under the supervision of senior divisional security commissioner Manoj Kumar, safely escorted the boy to the Nagpur RPF post, where a NGO Childline representative assisted in comforting him and gathered information in a child-friendly manner. Meanwhile, the child's mother and maternal grandfather reached the post, presenting valid travel documents to confirm their identity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Indonesia (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search Ads Search Now Undo Following instructions from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and in the presence of two independent witnesses, the RPF handed over the child to his family after completing all necessary formalities.
