Hezbollah: Zionist Escalation Places Regional Countries Face Historical Responsibilities

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon (Hezbollah) condemned the escalating barbaric aggression against Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and Lebanon on Thursday, stressing that the dangerous escalation places all countries and peoples of the region before historical responsibilities.
The Hezbollah said in a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "It condemns the escalating barbaric American-Zionist aggression against Syria, Yemen, Gaza, and Lebanon, which constitutes an extension of the open war waged by the American-Zionist axis of evil against the peoples of the region, destabilizing the stability and security of their countries, violating their sovereignty, and depleting their capabilities and strengths, in order to subjugate them to the demands of its hegemony and the interests of the Zionist entity, so that it may gain the upper hand in the region." He added, "In light of this dangerous escalation, Hezbollah confirms that targeting Syria through repeated raids and ongoing incursions into its territory falls within the framework of weakening the Syrian state and preventing it from recovering, and represents a blatant violation of its sovereignty."
He continued, "The heroic resistance of the honorable people of Syria to the Zionist incursion, which resulted in martyrs and wounded, is evidence that the Syrian people's choice was and remains one of confrontation and resistance to the occupier, and that the spirit of resistance is deeply rooted in the Syrian conscience."
He explained, "The continued barbaric American aggression against Yemen and the perpetration of massacres against its people is a desperate attempt to dissuade the steadfast, proud Yemeni people from continuing to support Gaza and the resistance in Palestine, and to compel them to halt their heroic operations."
The party continued, "As is the case in Syria and Yemen, the escalating brutal Zionist aggression against Palestine and Gaza, the ongoing war of extermination, and displacement projects, in full view of the incompetent international community, reveal the enemy's inability to break the will of resistance and the spirit of steadfastness and defiance of the Palestinian people." He continued, "In this context, too, come the persistent Zionist attacks on Lebanon and the ongoing American pressure, which cover up these crimes and through envoys carrying Israeli conditions to impose on us." He added, "This dangerous escalation places all the countries and peoples of the region before historical responsibilities that require them to unite in confronting these dangerous plans that threaten everyone." He added, "The equation today is clear: either confront or surrender to the enemy's plans, which aim only to subjugate the region, bring it to its knees, and dominate its peoples and capabilities." The statement concluded: "We, in Hezbollah, condemn these crimes and affirm our full solidarity with Syria, dear Yemen, proud Palestine, and their peoples. We call on all free people in the world to raise their voices in the face of this unjust aggression and to pressure the international community to put an end to these repeated attacks, in light of blatant American complicity that threatens regional peace and stability and opens the door to further escalation and aggressive wars in the region, amidst a disturbing international silence."

SDF revives crude, gas transfers to Damascus

Shafaq News/ The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have resumed daily oil and gas shipments to government-held areas, fulfilling terms of the March 2025 agreement, Syrian media reported. The deal, signed by transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi, grants Damascus oversight over SDF-controlled territories and paves the way for integrating SDF fighters into the national army. Under the accord, the SDF delivers between 10,000 and 15,000 barrels of crude oil per day from fields in Deir ez-Zor and al-Hasakah to refineries in Homs and Baniyas, in addition to over 1 million cubic meters of natural gas piped daily from al-Hasakah to the Rayyan power station near Homs. Petroleum engineer Osama al-Salem estimated current output from SDF-controlled fields at around 75,000 barrels per day—well below Syria's pre-war average of 400,000 barrels. 'Production remains unstable due to sabotage threats, frequent breakdowns, and limited access to spare parts,' he explained. Years of conflict and international sanctions have severely damaged Syria's energy infrastructure. Pipelines and refineries across the country remain in disrepair, forcing operators to rely on improvised fixes and locally fabricated components. Despite the agreement, tensions persist. The SDF has continued independent recruitment and training activities, raising doubts over full military integration, although negotations are ongoing to clarify command structures and coordination with the Ministry of Defense.

Syria's top religious body bans vigilante killings

Shafaq News/ Syria's Supreme Council of Fatwa has issued a religious edict forbidding all forms of extrajudicial killing, underscoring the need for justice through lawful means. The move has drawn international attention, with the US special envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, hailing the step as a positive sign. Great first steps for a new Syrian Government on the move towards a new Syria. — Ambassador Tom Barrack (@USAMBTurkiye) June 6, 2025 'It is forbidden for individuals to impose punishments or carry out retribution without recourse to official or religious courts,' the council stated, emphasizing that such acts undermine social stability and create a climate of violence and disorder. The statement also condemned any form of incitement to violence, saying it fuels division and hatred within the country. 'The council called on Syrian authorities to treat the issue of justice with utmost seriousness and urgency, ensuring the swift restoration of rights and preventing instigators and mercenaries from exploiting the situation to sow discord.'

Trump announces new round of US-China trade talks

Shafaq News/ On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that top American officials will meet with Chinese representatives for a new round of trade talks in London on June 9. Trump posted on Truth Social, that the US delegation will include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer. 'The meeting should go very well,' he wrote. The announcement followed a rare phone call between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which the two leaders addressed weeks of growing trade tensions, including disputes over critical mineral exports and tariff measures. Trump described the conversation as 'very positive,' reaffirming plans for continued talks. He had earlier acknowledged the challenges of securing a trade agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling the process 'extremely difficult,' as fresh tariffs on Chinese metal imports came into force. A fragile truce reached after the Geneva round in May, in which both countries agreed to temporarily lower tariffs—US duties dropped to 30% and China's to 10%—following earlier peaks of 145% and 125%, respectively. However, the temporary reductions are set to expire in early August. The US president recently accused Beijing of violating the pact, and US officials continue to cite delays in China's approval of critical mineral exports as a sticking point.
