Tesla driver is slammed for selfish act while getting KFC: 'Lacking consideration'

Daily Mail11 hours ago

A Tesla driver has sparked backlash after parking at a busy petrol station before ducking out to pick up some KFC.
The white Tesla Model Y parked directly in front of a fuel pump at BP Paradise Gardens in Thornlands in the City of Redlands, Queensland.
The image was shared to Facebook, with the original poster revealing they had seen the driver go to the KFC next door.
'Parking your electric vehicle next to a petrol bowser in a busy BP station while you pop in to KFC to get a go bucket, just in case there is a shower of rain and it gets wet (wasn't raining at the time),' the post read.
'Way of the future or just rude and lacking consideration for others?'
Social media users didn't hold back as they ripped into the driver.
One described the move as 'narcissistic', while another labelled it 'rude'.
'Probably worried they'll get electrocuted if the car gets wet!' one joked.
'Should've walked over, picked up the diesel pump, and when they walked back said "fillerup"?' one user joked.
'Damn ignorant. I'd like to see an EMF reading inside the cabin when he starts up. Maybe he's already fried his brain?' another said.
Many pointed out the irony, accusing some EV drivers of hypocrisy.
'Tesla driver.. say no more,' one wrote.
'They be the ones complaining there aren't enough charge points,' another said.
But not everyone was outraged. Some defended the Tesla driver and criticised the original post for being invasive.
'Looks like you were stalking the person if you know what they were doing,' one commented.
'We are often quick to judge a situation without knowing the whole story, aren't we? It is worth considering,' another added.
And one person suggested the entire drama was overblown.

Mercedes Concept AMG GT XX Gallery: The 1,341-HP Coupe In Pictures

Watch Out, Porsche Taycan Mercedes-AMG has pulled out all the stops for this new electric four-door coupe concept, giving us a look at a potent production model set for arrival in 2026. Not only does the Concept AMG GT XX look special, but this ultra-powerful EV will be able to hit 223 mph, a staggering achievement for an EV, let alone one that can carry passengers in the back. Having already pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved in a hybrid with the AMG ONE, the GT XX looks to do the same for EVs. 1 Source: Mercedes-Benz Finished in Sunset Beam Orange, the new Concept AMG GT XX is a low-slung four-door electric coupe. Its innovations are planned to be used on future series-production models using the AMG Electric Architecture ( ). 2 Source: Mercedes-Benz Not many aspects of this concept are shared with other AMG models, but there is a familiar AMG grille with vertical struts. In this case, is has a more oval and concave shape than we're used to seeing. 3 Source: Mercedes-Benz Six circular taillights are completely unique relative to other AMGs. We can also see recessed door handles, a rear-integrated airbrake, and a prominent AMG logo between the taillight clusters. 4 Source: Mercedes-Benz Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. However, this could change for the production model. 5 Source: Mercedes-Benz A low rear end and special underbody aerodynamic features have eliminated the need for a large rear spoiler, while allowing the car to retain its slippery shape. 6 M Wide, high-performance tires are fitted and wrapped around 21-inch active aero wheels that optimize cooling of the brakes. On the hood, there are two-part air outlets with dual fins. This design can dissipate warm air from the front section of the car. 7 Source: Mercedes-Benz Three axial flux electric motors power the GT XX, and they have a combined peak output of 1,341 horsepower. AMG says the power density of such motors are about three times that of normal ones, and they're also lighter. No acceleration times were quoted, but it should be brutally quick with standard 4Matic+ variable AWD, and the top speed is 223 mph. Oh, and don't worry – this electric AMG will sound good, too. 8 Source: Mercedes-Benz The driver's cockpit is clearly race-car inspired, starting with the rectangular-shaped steering wheel that is similar to the wheel in the AMG ONE hypercar. 9 Source: Mercedes-Benz While there are dual screens as in most modern Mercs, the GT XX's screens are more obviously angled in the direction of the driver. The body structure has been left exposed in sections like the center console, creating a dramatic and illuminated division between the driver and front passenger. 10 Source: Mercedes-Benz A biotechnology-based alternative to leather has been used for the seats, which is made using tires from AMG GT3 racing cars. 11 Source: Mercedes-Benz A 10.25-inch screen sits directly ahead of the driver; to the right of this is a 14-inch touchscreen. 12 Source: Mercedes-Benz Orange ambient lighting is everywhere, including in these slats on the dashboard ahead of the front passenger. 13 Source: Mercedes-Benz The hazard button on the center console bridge is about the only element of the interior that looks conventional. Everything else is dripping with innovation. About the Author Karl Furlong View Profile

Xiaomi launches YU7 priced from 253,500 yuan, challenging Tesla's Model Y

BEIJING, June 26 (Reuters) - Chinese EV and smartphone maker Xiaomi ( opens new tab on Thursday priced its new electric YU7 SUV 10,000 yuan ($1,395) cheaper than Tesla's Model Y, stepping up the challenge to the U.S. firm in the world's largest auto market. The base model of the YU7 starts from 253,500 yuan ($35,364), with the more premium models YU7 Pro and YU7 Max priced at 279,900 and 329,900 yuan respectively. Xiaomi will take orders for all three models from Thursday night. The Model Y, which was China's best-selling SUV in May, retails from 263,500 yuan in China. Xiaomi's CEO and founder Lei Jun has said he wants the YU7 to challenge the Model Y and analysts say it is well placed to take on the Tesla vehicle's dominance. Other rivals include Zeekr's 7X and Li Auto's L6. The YU7 has a driving range of up to 835 kilometres (519 miles) per charge, versus the redesigned Model Y that was launched in January with a range of up to 719 kilometres.
