Right now, there are positive vibes flowing through The Star as Brian Schottenheimer's Dallas Cowboys vision is becoming clear to see.

But as we know, it doesn't take too much for those vibes to be replaced with negative ones. Yes, we are early in the offseason, and everyone looks like a Pro Bowler, so when the regular season rolls around, we will get to see the truest version of Schottenheimer's Cowboys.
However, with everything seemingly rolling smoothly, the roster appears to be in good shape for the regular season. Dak Prescott and the offense have been upgraded, and so too has the defense.
Expectations for Dallas in 2025 vary from playoffs to missing out altogether. But if the Cowboys are to return to the postseason, what is one thing that simply can't happen?
Of all the bad things that could transpire, I offer this as what some might call the worst-case scenario, and I write this with fingers, toes, and anything else you can think of crossed.

Prescott goes down again.

Having not missed a single game in his first four seasons, of Dak's next five years, he's only played a full year twice.
We saw last season how quickly things unraveled when Prescott tore part of his hamstring off the bone, and for Schottenheimer, he has to keep Dak on the field.
No longer the running threat he once was, Dak can now hopefully lean on a run game that was non-existent last season, plus he has George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb as his go-to weapons.
When Dak is healthy, Dallas is a playoff team. It is that simple. So, keeping him upright and out of the treatment room is crucial to any success the Cowboys hope to have in 2025.

He is approaching his 32nd birthday, so Dak is no spring chicken, but losing him again as the franchise did last season is nightmare fuel. For now, and the future, because that could be thrown into question as well.
So, my friends, knock on wood, cross your fingers and toes that Mr. Prescott stays on the field.
Because Dallas' success depends on it.

Pro Football Focus graded out his sophomore season at a respectable 65.8. That is considered above average for the cornerback position. Advertisement Philadelphia will not simply give Ringo a starting role. He will be competing with veteran Adoree Jackson for that key role opposite second-year corner Quinyon Mitchell on the outside. It seems silly to think that a player in just his third year in the league is in a "do or die" situation. Especially one as young as Ringo. Despite his two years in the league, he is still just 22 years old. But Ringo isn't just looking to find a home on special teams. He may be Philadelphia's top special-teams player, but Ringo has far bigger goals. Ringo wants to start on the outside. If he can't beat out a player like Jackson—someone who has never played in the Vic Fangio system—then when will it happen? When the Eagles took Hurts in the second round of the 2020 draft, they looked at him in a similar light that they did Wilson back in 2012. Hurts has been the kind of leader and winner teams beg for in a starting quarterback. Can he reach new heights as a Super Bowl champion now? Hurts' numbers aren't bad. He has a career completion percentage of over 64%, has thrown for close to 15,000 yards, and has an 85:39 touchdown-to-interception ratio. These numbers are good. They can be a whole lot better. That's where Hurts is now. He is a proven winner with the talent around him. If he can improve as a passer and bolster his numbers, his standing as not only one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but the greatest quarterback in franchise history will be unchallenged for good. He is a strong defender, having earned All-Defensive honors in two of the last three seasons. He'd also give the Clippers another dependable option on offense. He averaged 16.4 points and 4.8 assists per game this past season. His three-point shooting would give the Clippers a boost in another area where they need it. He knocked down 3.5 threes per game this past season while shooting 38.4% from behind the arc. Meanwhile, the Clippers were near the bottom of the league in both three point attempts and made threes. Advertisement White wouldn't be a cheap option. He carries a $28.1 million cap hit into next season and it escalates each year after. He'd also require the Clippers to part with a decent amount of the little remaining draft capital they have available. Still, he'd be worth the price as a great fit to play alongside James Harden in the Clippers' backcourt.
