Fall River woman wins $1 million on 'Emerald Mine 50X' scratch ticket
DORCHESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – A Fall River woman has won the $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's 'Emerald Mine 50X' $5 instant ticket game.
New Bedford man wins $1,000 a week for life prize on $5 scratch ticket
Maria Manchester chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000, before taxes. Although Manchester did not say what she will do with her winnings, she said she chose the ticket because it was green and that it was a newer game.
The ticket was purchased at AMS Food Mart on South Main Street in Fall River, which will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket.
The 'Emerald Mine 50X' instant ticket game went on sale on January 7th. There one remaining $1 million prizes players could win.

Average western Massachusetts gas prices hit $2.90 per gallon
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield's gas prices have fallen 3.9 cents per gallon over the past week. Springfield celebration shines light on local heroes, helping to make communities thrive Gas prices in Springfield have dropped to an average of $2.90/g, according to GasBuddy price reports after a survey of 257 stations in Springfield. The cheapest station in Springfield was priced at $2.69/g, and the most expensive station was $3.19/g. The highest price in the state was $3.69/g, a difference of $1.12/g. The national price of gasoline is averaging $3.07/g on Monday. The national average is down 5.2 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands at 32.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 gas stations across the country.
