Gold Futures End Lower Amid Profit-taking
KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 (Bernama) -- Gold futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower due to ongoing profit-taking, while geopolitical risks weighed on demand for the safe-haven asset.
The spot-month June 2025 contract eased to US$3,385.60 per troy ounce from Monday's US$3,425.20, while the July 2025 note dropped to US$3,394.10 from US$3,433.70 previously. The August, September, and October 2025 contracts slipped to US$3,413.90 per troy ounce from US$3,453.20 on Monday.
Trading volume jumped to 96 lots versus 25 lots on Monday, while open interest widened to 131 contracts from 61 contracts.

Online 'store rating' scam costs businessman over RM700k
SEREMBAN: A hardware businessman lost more than RM703,000 after falling victim to a fake business opportunity promoted through Facebook last month. Nilai police chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said the victim, a local man in his late 30s, claimed he was introduced to a website called Yoox-Shopping by a woman believed to be from China, whom he had befriended online on May 15. "She proposed a business partnership and encouraged him to open an online store on the platform," he said in a statement tonight. The man was instructed to transfer money into 10 different bank accounts to supposedly boost the store's ratings, making 27 transfers amounting to RM703,337.41. He realised he had been duped when asked for another RM300,000 to release the alleged profits. A police report was lodged and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which pertains to cheating.– BERNAMA

Malaysia, Russia reinforce ties through renewable energy cooperation
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia remains committed to expanding strategic ties with international partners, including Russia, in areas that can yield mutual benefit and contribute to sustainable development. This commitment was conveyed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof during a courtesy call by Russian Ambassador to Malaysia Naiyl M. Latypov at the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry's (PETRA) headquarters in Putrajaya today. "This meeting provided an opportunity for constructive discussion on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of renewable energy, which is gaining global attention.
