Cooper Flagg draws comparison to LeBron James by former NBA champion
Projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg is a highly-touted prospect entering the 2025 NBA draft, and the National College Player of the Year recently earned a comparison to LeBron James.
Flagg led Duke to the Final Four, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks on 38.5% shooting from 3-point range. He became the 22nd player in program history to be named a consensus first-team All-American.
The 18-year-old has drawn comparisons to the likes of Grant Hill, Kawhi Leonard and Jayson Tatum. Former 12-year NBA veteran and champion Brian Scalabrine, speaking Tuesday on the "Dan Patrick Show," said Flagg reminds him of James based on how he processes the game mentally.
Scalabrine revealed that he previously spent time training Flagg when he was entering high school in Maine. He was impressed with how quickly he was able to add new skill sets to his game at such a young age and how he still has that trait now, as he is on the verge of entering the NBA.
I think it is LeBron James without having to be 260 pounds and a freight train. Cooper Flagg is a supercomputer. Everything you tell him, within 24 hours, he figured it out. The next time you tell him something else, (he figures it out). ... I've been around a lot of players. I've been around Hall of Fame players, I've never met someone who can just pick up things at such a high rate. When people talk about NBA players (not making it), a lot of it has to do with their computer and processor. He just processes on a rate that I've never seen before, so I'm only assuming that it's like LeBron James.
Flagg established himself as the overwhelming favorite to be the No. 1 pick because of his size, athleticism and ability to affect games on both ends of the court. Former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski even called him the best freshman to ever play with the Blue Devils.
The 6-foot-8 forward is expected to join the Dallas Mavericks on June 25 after reportedly meeting with the organization this week. He isn't expected to work out with any other teams, likely after receiving word that the team would select him with the first pick.
Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said last month that he believes the team is an excellent situation for Flagg, with their mixture of established veterans and up-and-coming players. He believes Flagg will be able to step in and make an immediate contribution.
After trading away cornerstone Luka Dončić, the Mavericks hope Flagg can step in and be their long-term solution. Should Flagg indeed hear his name called first, the ACC Freshman of the Year will become the sixth Blue Devil to be selected as the top pick.

Duke's Kon Knueppel confirms he will met with Sixers ahead of draft
Duke's Kon Knueppel confirms he will met with Sixers ahead of draft The Philadelphia 76ers will have plenty of options to turn to with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. They will have their options of either Rutgers star Ace Bailey or Baylor's VJ Edgecombe as they sit at the top of the draft board, but there are other options as well. For example, Duke guard Kon Knueppel is certainly making a case that he should be selected with the No. 3 pick. He averaged 14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while shooting 40.6% from deep in his freshman season for the Blue Devils and will be a guy who the Sixers will consider either at No. 3 or even in a trade down scenario. Knueppel hopped on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" and confirmed that he will meet with the Sixers. He added he won't work out for them, but he has a Zoom interview scheduled with them: I have a Zoom with them this week, but I did not work out with them. Knueppel is a strong choice for Philadelphia at No. 3 as he is somebody who can shoot the heck out of the ball, but he can also put the ball on the floor and use his strength to be able to make an impact from the perimeter. There is a lot of questions about his lack of athleticism and things of that nature, but the Sixers would be able to hide him on defense.

Former Boston Celtics big man battling injury in France finals
While Daniel Theis ended up on a contending AS Monaco team that's in the French finals, he won't be able to contribute going forward. The former Celtics big man is out for the rest of the series due to a knee injury, per multiple reports. AS Monaco is down 1-0 in the best-of-five series to Paris Basketball in the top French league. So as AS Monaco looks to bounce back from a 94-82 loss, it'll have to do so without Theis, who had been a big part of the team. He's averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in EuroLeague play since being signed back in February. Advertisement Theis started the season on the Pelicans, where he played in 38 games (nine starts), averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. But the Pelicans elected to move him to the Thunder to avoid the luxury tax. Theis was then waived from Oklahoma City, making him a free agent. While Theis could've explored the NBA market after getting waived, he elected to sign overseas with the French squad. AS Monaco earned the No. 3 seed in the French playoffs before making it to the finals. While Theis could try to make an NBA comeback, for now, he's put a pause on that part of his career. Theis played for the Celtics in two different stints that also included an appearance in the 2022 NBA Finals. He also suited up for the Bulls, Rockets, Pacers and Clippers during his time in the NBA. While he saw his playing time slowly start to diminish stateside, he got an opportunity for a larger role overseas with AS Monaco. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.

Al Horford's intentions for next season becoming more clear (report)
The Celtics have a heap of decisions to make this offseason but some of those decisions revolve around their own free agents. Al Horford is an unrestricted free agent and is one of several Boston bigs with uncertainty surrounding them. Luke Kornet is a free agent as well and Kristaps Porzingis has been a subject of trade rumors with Boston needing to trim payroll for next season to dip under the second apron. Horford talked earlier this spring about not only returning for another season but playing in Boston. Advertisement 'I know that I'm gonna be playing against him next season in the pros,' Horford told John Fanta of Fox Sports at the Final Four when asked about Florida star Walter Clayton Jr. 'Maybe he'll be with us,' However, a lot has changed since those remarks in March. Boston lost Jayson Tatum to a torn Achilles that will sidelined him for at least a large chunk of next season. That injury combined with a stunning second-round exit against the Knicks left Horford more uncertain about his future at Boston's exit interviews last month. 'I'm going to take some time here with my wife and my kids and just that,' Horford said. 'But it's not even been a day, so there's still a lot for me to process and just feeling everything out from last night, that was difficult.' When pressed about whether he planned to play next season, Horford remained noncommittal. Advertisement 'Yeah, I'm just not ready to talk about that right now,' Horford said. 'I just need some time with my wife and my family, and that's what I plan on doing these next few weeks.' However, Michael Scotto of Hoopshype reports Monday that the 'general sense around the league and those close to Horford' is that he'll continue to play next season. Horford, 39, is expected to draw a strong market around the league for potential mid-level exception type-money in a weak free agent class. Whether Horford is looking for one final payday or would prefer to end his career in a Celtics uniform Horford averaged 8.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 27.2 minutes per game last season while shooting 38.8 percent from 3-point range. The veteran has played his last four seasons in Boston after being reacquired via trade in June 2021. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.
