From July, no Tatkal railway ticket booking without Aadhaar authentication
In order to prevent the malpractices by agents and ensure that common people receive the benefit of Tatkal ticket scheme, the Ministry of Railways has modified the scheme. From July, only those users who have authenticated their account using Aadhaar will be able to book tatkal tickets.
'With effect from 01.07.2025, tickets under tatkal scheme can be booked through the website of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)/its app only by Aadhaar authenticated users. Subsequently, Aadhaar-based OTP authentication shall also be made compulsory for the tatkal booking from 15.07.2025,' reads the circular issued by the Railway Ministry on June 10.
Along with the online ticket booking system, the new rule will be applied on counter tickets as well. 'Tatkal tickets shall be available for booking through computerised PRS (passenger reservation system) counters of Indian Railways/authorised agents only after authentication of a system generated OTP which shall be sent through the system on the mobile number furnished by the user at the time of booking. This shall also be implemented by 15.07.2025,' said the circular further.
According to the new rule, the authorised ticketing agents of the Indian Railways shall not be allowed to book tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of opening of booking for AC as well as non-AC travel classes. It means the agents will not be allowed to book tatkal tickets from 10 am to 10.30 am for air-conditioned classes and from 11 am to 11.30 am for non-air conditioned classes.
The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the technological wing of the Indian Railways, and IRCTC have been asked to make necessary modification in the system accordingly under intimation to all zonal railways.
According to the data available with the Ministry of Railways, every day, around 2,25,000 passengers book Tatkal tickets through the online platform of the Indian Railways.
An analysis of the online Tatkal ticket booking pattern from May 24 to June 2 by the Railways shows that on an average 5,615 out of 1,08,000 AC class tickets were booked in the first minute after the window opened. A total of 22,827 tickets were booked in the second minute. In the AC class, an average of 67,159 tickets or 62.5 per cent of Tatkal tickets daily were booked online within the first 10 minutes of the window opening. The remaining 37.5 per cent tickets were booked between 10 minutes till chart preparation, out of which 3.01 per cent of Tatkal tickets were booked after 10 hours of the window opening.
In the non-AC category, from May 24 to June 2, an average of 1,18,567 tickets were booked online daily. Of these, 4,724 tickets — about 4 per cent — were booked within the first minute, while 20,786 tickets — about 17.5 per cent — were booked in the second minute. Approximately 66.4 percent of tickets were sold within the first 10 minutes after the window opened and the rest of the tickets were booked after that.
A senior official of the Ministry of Railways said that the proposal for the e-Aadhaar authentication system is part of the campaign against the use of automated tools to book tickets online.

Her YouTube channel, 'Funny Bhabhi', had 236,000 subscribers. Her content, often humorous and occasionally provocative, attracted both admiration and criticism. Media reports indicate that in 2024, she was allegedly warned by individuals claiming ties to Canada-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla. She was told to stop posting what they deemed 'vulgar' content. No formal complaint was filed at the time, according to The Indian Express. Police probe motives, await post-mortem report Police are investigating whether Kaur had received recent threats or was involved in any disputes, either personal or professional. Her body has been sent for post-mortem, and authorities continue to gather evidence to determine the cause and motive behind the suspected murder.

My client would like to bring the true facts to your attention and would like to state unequivocally that such media reports are completely untrue."Vadra has complied with all the ED summons, demands for information and documentation for the last ten years. He has repeatedly affirmed and demonstrated his full cooperation with the authorities and will continue his full cooperation as a law-abiding citizen of India," Khaitan said in a said Vadra received a summons to appear before the ED on June 10 in respect of a case in which he has already appeared before the agency on multiple occasions dating back to 2019 when he also filed voluminous documents."On 09.06.2025, he came down with flu-like symptoms and was advised to take a COVID-19 test . CSBC to conduct six-phase written examination for 19,838 constable posts in Bihar from July 16
Ahead of the Assembly election, the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) is set to conduct a six-phase written examination for the recruitment of 19,838 constable posts in Bihar, commencing July 16. The examination will be conducted across 627 centres in all 38 districts of the State on six dates: July 16, 20, 23, 27, 30, and August 3. 'An advertisement to fill up the 19,838 posts of constables was issued on March 11, which was later extended up to April 25. The Board received a total of 17,06,628 online applications for registration. A total of 16,73,586 applications were found valid after scrutiny,' CSBC Chairman and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jitendra Kumar said at a press briefing in Patna. During scrutiny, 10,947 applications were found incomplete, 20,940 candidates withdrew their applications, and 1,155 were rejected due to various reasons. 'The final list, after scrutiny, was uploaded to the Board's website on June 6,' Mr. Kumar added. When asked about the number of female applicants, Mr. Kumar stated, 'Right now, I do not have numbers with me but there is a 35% quota for women and hence the number may not be less than five to six lakh.' Reiterating the Board's commitment to conduct a fair and transparent examination, Mr. Kumar said, 'Elaborate arrangements are being made by the Board, police headquarters, and the State government. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police will be given proper guidelines from the top level to ensure fair examination.' District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police have been appointed as Exam Coordinator and Exam Co-Coordinator, respectively. Outlining the security protocols, the Chairman said local police are maintaining strict vigilance and collecting intelligence from hostels, lodges, coaching centres, and other potential gathering spots for candidates. 'Exam centres and halls will be monitored through CCTV cameras, and the live feed will be available at the control room of the Board's headquarters. Jammers capable of blocking 5G and Wi-Fi signals will be installed at all centres. Centre Superintendents will be connected via a hotline to ensure smooth conduct,' Mr. Kumar said. To prevent any undue advantage, candidates will not be allotted centres in their home districts. The Board will announce examination dates and centre details on its official website after June 20, 2025. Allotments will be done through randomisation. The two-hour examination will begin at 12 noon. Candidates will be allowed entry between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. They are required to bring their e-admit card along with a valid photo identification document such as Aadhaar, passport, PAN card, or EPIC. Candidates are not required to bring any writing materials, as the Board will provide pens and question booklets at the examination centres.
