A 42-year-old Indian-origin man, Gaurav Kundi, was pinned down to the Payneham Road in Adelaide's eastern suburbs while he was being arrested by the police. His wife Amritpal Kaur said police slammed his head against the car and also on the road.
She was initially filming the torture, she said to 9News, adding that she panicked when the officer knelt on Gaurav. "I've done nothing wrong," Kundi screamed and then lost his senses. He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where doctors said his brain and neck nerves were severely damaged. Kundi, the father of two, is now on life support.
"Doctors are saying his brain is totally damaged. Maybe he will wake up if his brain works, or maybe he will not," Kaur said.
Police said Gaurav Kundi resisted the arrest violently. The couple was allegedly arguing which a patrol car mistook for domestic violence. Kaur confirmed that Kundi was drunk and loud and they were arguing, but there was no violence.
South Australian police commissioner Grant Stevens backed the officer on duty and he said he saw the visioh from one of the officers' body camera and he believes that the officers acted in line with their training.
Going by the account of Kaur, Kundi had been drinking before he left their home and began walking along Payneham Road. "I just go out and follow him. What are you doing here? Let's get back home. You are drunk. You are not well. We will go home," Kaur said, adding that she was pushed by her husband which probably was noticed by the patrol car and the cops thought it was domestic violence.
"The policeman thinks he's assaulting me and doing domestic violence on the road but the policeman is wrong," she said. "He is just drunk and that's why he is loud, nothing else."

Government employee arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, says Rajasthan Police
The Rajasthan Police on Tuesday said that a state government employee, who was earlier detained on suspicion of spying for Pakistan, has been arrested, PTI reported. Shakur Khan, an assistant administrative officer at the district employment office in Jaisalmer, had been detained on May 28 for allegedly passing sensitive information to his handlers in Pakistan, The Hindu reported. He had been under surveillance for suspicious activities prior to his arrest, according to PTI. On Tuesday, Inspector General of Police (Security) Vishnu Kant Gupta alleged that Khan had been in regular contact with persons linked to the Pakistani High Commission, particularly two men identified as Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish and Sohail Qamar, The Hindu reported. In May, Danish was declared persona non-grata by New Delhi and was asked to leave India. In diplomatic parlance, an official declared persona non-grata is deemed unwelcome by the host country. 'Khan was taken into custody for questioning a few days ago and was interrogated extensively at the central interrogation facility in Jaipur by multiple intelligence agencies,' PTI quoted Gupta as saying. He claimed that Khan obtained Pakistani visas on several occasions and travelled to Pakistan with Danish's assistance without reporting it to Indian authorities. He came in contact with agents from the Inter-Service Intelligence, Islamabad's intelligence agency, during his time in Pakistan, Gupta said. 'He [Khan] collected sensitive information after returning to India and transmitted it to his Pakistani handlers through WhatsApp and other social media platforms,' The Hindu quoted the inspector general of police as saying. Gupta added that a case was registered under the Official Secrets Act since the matter constituted a serious security breach and Khan was arrested, according to the newspaper. A court in Jaipur remanded him to police custody for seven days. Khan, who hails from Badoda Gaon village in Jaisalmer district, had earlier served as a personal assistant to former minister Saleh Mohammed during the previous Congress government in the state, The Hindu reported. Following his detention on May 28, Khan's links to Mohammed had led to a political row. However, Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra said that being a personal assistant to a minister did not constitute a valid ground to implicate Mohammed. 'We have nothing to do with any criminal or anti-national activity,' The Hindu quoted Dotasra as having said. 'If the police have received some inputs, they should investigate and take action against the accused.' Khan's arrest came amid heightened military tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad that escalated on May 7 when the Indian military carried out strikes – codenamed Operation Sindoor – on what it claimed were terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes were in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which killed 26 persons on April 22. Over the past few weeks, at least 16 persons have been arrested across the country on allegations of spying for Pakistan and leaking sensitive information about Operation Sindoor.

Pakistan reels under Op Sindoor pressure, seeks dialogue with India ‘to combat terror'
Bilawal Bhutto's comments come after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated discussions with India following the military combat between the two countries, which was triggered by the Pahalgam attack of April 22 read more Pakistan's former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto has sought dialogue with India to 'combat terrorism' together. Bhutto is in the US with a Pakistani delegation to hold meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, General Assembly President Philemon Yang, and Security Council President Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett. 'Pakistan would still like to cooperate with India to combat terrorism we can't leave the fate of 1.5 or 1.7 billion people in the hands of non-state actors and terrorists for them to decide at a whim that two nuclear armed powers will go to war and this is the new normal of the new abnormal that the Indian government is trying to impose on the region,' Bhutto said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Pakistan Peoples Party leader's comments come after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated discussions with India following the military combat between the two countries, which was triggered by the Pahalgam attack of April 22. During his trip to Iran last month, Sharif said, 'We want to resolve all disputes, including the Kashmir issue and the water issue, through negotiations and are also ready to talk to our neighbour on trade and counter-terrorism.' Meanwhile, Bhutto, on Tuesday, admitted that Pakistan's efforts to raise the Kashmir issue at the UN have faced significant setbacks. 'As far as the hurdles we face within the UN and in general, as far as the Kashmir cause is concerned, that still exists,' he said during a press conference. The Pakistani leader was left red-faced after a foreign journalist disputed his claim that Muslims in India are being 'demonised' after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people.
