Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra Attends Qatar Economic Forum to Lead Discussion on Investments in Innovation
DOHA, Qatar--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Avangrid, Inc., a leading energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, announced that CEO Pedro Azagra participated in the Qatar Economic Forum. Azagra joined a roundtable discussion titled The Next R&D Hub: Investing in Innovation's Future.

Hosted by Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council Secretary General Omar Al-Ansari, the roundtable brought together C-suite executives to explore the key forces shaping global R&D strategies, from talent access and regulatory shifts to geopolitical risk and market potential. The roundtable featured 15 delegates from diverse industries including tech, pharma, finance, and energy, among others.
Iberdrola is the number one private utility in the world in terms of R&D investment, with over €1.78 billion invested in the last five years, and €403 million in 2024 alone. Iberdrola leads dedicated innovation teams across their service geographies including U.S., Spain, U.K., Brazil, Australia, and Qatar, with Iberdrola's Innovation Middle East.
Iberdrola Innovation Middle East was established in Qatar in 2016 at the Qatar Science and Technology Park. The center drives the development of innovation in digitization of the electrical system and leveraging AI and machine learning.
In the United States, Avangrid has been utilizing state of the art AI tools to unlock additional capacity on transmission lines, allowing for flexibility to safely increase the amount of energy flowing based on current conditions. This real time visibility reduces grid congestion and increases carrying capacity.

Testing the Leica M11-D has made me a better photographer — and you won't guess the reason why
I have the pleasure (and privilege) of testing the best cameras at Tom's Guide and putting them through their paces. It isn't often that a camera lands on my desk and I'm immediately struck by its design and features — but the Leica M11-D is one such camera. I spent two weeks testing it and boy did it test my patience and my skills as a photographer! And at the end of the testing period, I came out a better photographer. Why, you ask? Because the M11-D forces you to trust your instincts. It kicks it old-school-style by doing away with modern touchscreens and autofocus. And there's no highly detailed optical or electronic viewfinder either. The M11-D is a rangefinder camera, which means you need to align two images to get the perfect shot. The Leica M11-D is unlike most other cameras. Its screen-less design hopes to eliminate distractions and lets you live in the moment. While its rangefinder presents a learning curve, it offers pin-point, precise focusing. The 60MP images it captures burst with life and character, and the camera provides a few color profiles users can play with. Of course, you're paying a premium for the M11-D — $10,555 / £8,100 to be precise. So what makes this camera so expensive? The red dot, for starters, but it's packed with other goodies that set it a class apart from the likes of Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, etc. The M11-D has improved my capabilities as a photographer, and now, allow me to show you how and why. Like I said before, the Leica M11-D is a rangefinder camera, so what does that mean? I explain it in detail in my review but in a nutshell: instead of the viewfinder showing an image that has come through the lens, the rangefinder shows an image that has come through the optical viewfinder window itself. A tiny second window on the front of the camera projects another smaller image (the 'focusing patch') into the viewfinder. To focus, align both images to capture a sharp, in-focus image. This takes some trial and error but the resulting images are ridiculously sharp, and the camera lets you extremely precisely focus on your primary subject, as you can see in the gallery above. The first photo of the swan and ducks is one of the best I've ever taken — the precise focus makes the swan pop and, if I do say so myself, the composition is beautiful. The other images speak for themselves. You also have 60.3MP at your disposal, and the Leica Maestro III processor at work. When these two work together, the M11-D produces razor-sharp images that ooze finesse and, in a way, luxury. You know how when you use a film camera, you can't see the photos until you get them developed? The Leica M11-D is somewhat like that. It hopes to deliver an analog shooting experience thanks to its screen-less design. You can't view the photos on the camera after you've taken them — you must use either the Leica FOTOS smartphone app or plug the M11-D into a laptop. This means that if you don't check your phone right after you've taken a shot, you may miss the opportunity to take it again. And I think that's a big selling point of this camera. It negates any distractions, leaving just you, the camera and your subject in the moment. After using the camera for a while, I started leaning on my instincts more, and I made more of an effort to get the perfect shot. Because you need to take your time to frame a shot, the M11-D is best-suited to street, architecture and portrait photography, and its 4.5fps mechanical shutter is just speedy enough for slow photography. I managed to take some lovely photos of slow-moving swans and ducks but I wouldn't recommend using it to photograph birds in flight or skittish animals. I've thoroughly enjoyed using the M11-D. In a fast-paced world where we're always striving for the perfect shot for quick-sharing to social media, it's made me slow down. It's made me assess my surroundings, gauge where the best light is coming from and what the right angle is. Every shot in this article and my review was meticulously thought-out and composed. I was never in a rush to finish testing the M11-D, or put it back in my bag. I wanted to keep taking more and more photos, even when it started raining cats and dogs. This is a beautiful camera that, I think, everyone should try at least once.

Confused by latest order? How to calculate if your Jackson County assessment is within limits
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County assessments are showing up in homeowner's mailboxes. Some people may be surprised at the increase after a May order from the State Tax Commission. Some taxpayers may receive tax refunds in June: When payments could arrive That order capped increases in each assessment period at 15% and set 2022 as a starting point for this year's assessments after 2023 assessments were heavily contested. But determining your maximum 2025 assessment is a little bit more complicated than a single multiplication or division. Legislator Sean Smith and Preston Smith (no relation) have been helping homeowners with appeals since assessments skyrocketed in 2023. This week as they went out again they've been getting questions about what the latest State Tax Commission Order and 15% cap really means. 'People look at it and the first thing they see is, I thought it was only going to be a 15% increase and that was the perception. I've probably answered it online 100 times,' Preston Smith said. 'A lot of people are contacting me thinking they only do the 15 percent once, but you have to do it twice,' Legislator Sean Smith explained. To illustrate how it works with the latest rules using 2022 assessments as the starting point, consider a home with a $100,000 assessed value in 2022. To calculate the maximum assessed value in 2023 multiply $100,000 by 1.15 which is $115,000. But then you have to multiply by 115% again to determine the maximum value a home could be assessed at this year. In this example it would be $132,250. The two 15% increases end up yielding a maximum increase of 32.25% during the two assessment periods. 'I would really urge people to do the math themselves to check it, check and really verify,' Preston Smith said. To do that, however, you have to know your home's 2022 assessed value, which according to those who have received this year's assessments, isn't on this year's notices. If your increase ends up beyond the allowances under the State order or if you simply don't agree with your value, you still can appeal. Appeals have to be filed by July 14. The county says estimated savings are included on notices, but are subject to change. Both Sean and Preston Smith say they are pressing the Assessor's Office for complete assessment data in 2022, 2023 and 2025 to see how much home values increased, and how many of those increases equated to the maximum allowed if no new construction was done under the State Tax Commission Order without a physical inspection. H.C. Wainwright Reiterates Buy Rating on Immix Biopharma (IMMX) Following Promising Interim Results from NXC-201 Trial
On June 4, analyst Robert Burns of H.C. Wainwright reiterated a Buy rating on Immix Biopharma, Inc. (NASDAQ:IMMX) with a price target of $7.00. The analyst based the rating on the promising interim results from the NEXICART-2 Phase 1/2 clinical trial of NXC-201, presented at the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting (ASCO 2025) in Chicago, Illinois. The trial assessed the efficacy of NXC-201 in patients with relapsed/refractory AL amyloidosis and delivered a 100% response rate, with a considerable portion attaining a complete hematologic response. The analyst reasoned that the absence of hematologic relapse or progression and the rapid mean time to response further highlight NXC-201's potential as a viable treatment.
