A man is dead after drowning at Main Beach on Friday, according to the Fernandina Beach Police Department. Police only identified the victim as a male in his 40s from Massachusetts.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating both crashes. 'This is not the first time one of our vehicles has been struck trying to keep work crews safe in that area of Ga. 365, but thankfully our personnel and others involved have not been injured in the collisions.' Georgia's Move Over Law requires drivers to move over one lane when possible if an emergency vehicle with flashing lights is parked on the shoulder of the highway. If traffic is too heavy, authorities ask drivers to slow down and be prepared to stop.

A man received life-threatening injuries when he was hit by two different vehicles crossing the street, Marietta police said. The collisions happened Monday night just before midnight in front of 692 Powder Springs St. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The initial investigation suggests that the unidentified man was crossing Powder Springs Street in the crosswalk but didn't obey the traffic control device. A 2020 Mercedes Benz heading south bound on Powder Springs Road hit the man. He was then hit by a 2015 Nissan also heading south.
