United Airlines Abruptly Cancels Flights to Tel Aviv Airport
On May 10, 15 different airlines opted to suspend service to Israel's Ben Gurion Airport following a recent airstrike fired by Yemen's Houthi Rebels. The airstrike landed near the Tel Aviv airport, which decided to stay open following the attack. "Dear passengers, please be advised that Ben Gurion airport is working as planned including departures and landings," the airport said in a brief statement. United Airlines was one of the 15 airlines to stop service to the airport for a brief time before announcing it would resume flight services from New York to Tel Aviv on June 5. 'This resumption follows a detailed assessment of operational considerations for the region and close work with the unions who represent our flight attendants and pilots,' United said in a statement. Just a week later, a United Airlines flight from New York to Tel Aviv late Thursday night turned around over the Atlantic Ocean after Israel launched a series of military strikes against Iran's nuclear infrastructure. United confirmed to Business Insider that one flight to Tel Aviv, UAL84, returned to New York after departure, and that another, UAL90, was canceled. "United will continue to monitor the situation and will work to assist our customers through this disruption," a United statement said. The airline also announced that 26 crew members who had been in Tel Aviv on a layover when the airspace closed were given seats on an El Al flight out of Israel. The swift change came after the Israeli military struck targets in Iran early on Friday escalating the feud between the two countries that led to Iran to send 100 drones to Israel following the attacks while warning of a "heavy price" to be paid after the Airlines Abruptly Cancels Flights to Tel Aviv Airport first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 14, 2025

Barcelona have 'doubts' over signing Marcus Rashford from Man United
Marcus Rashford is 'no closer' to securing a move to Barcelona as figures at Camp Nou have 'doubts' over signing the Manchester United forward, according to a report. Rashford, 27, is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer as the England international has no future under Ruben Amorim after their public dispute in December. Advertisement Rashford was dropped by the Portuguese coach for the Manchester Derby with Amorim citing issues over attitude and application in training as the reasoning. Two days later, Rashford publicly declared his desire to leave United in search of a 'new challenge' in an unauthorised interview with journalist Henry Winter. It was not well-received amongst the Old Trafford hierarchy, nor Amorim and his coaching staff. Plans were accelerated for Rashford to leave the club in January with the 27-year-old not playing another minute under Amorim before his eventual loan move to Aston Villa at the end of the winter window. A £40 million buy-option was included in the move to Villa Park where Rashford enjoyed a mild resurgence under the tutelage of Unai Emery, who was key in convincing the forward to accept the Villans' proposal. Advertisement But with the season having drawn to a close, Villa have not exercised this option and Rashford is set to return to his boyhood club, despite neither party believing it be a long-term reunion. Rashford's 'dream' this summer is a switch to Spain to join La Liga champions Barcelona. The Catalan club made an enquiry to sign him in January but the financials involved in a loan proved unworkable. This reality is unlikely to have changed significantly given United's asking price of £40 million and Rashford's exorbitant wage packet at Old Trafford, even if he takes a salary cut. But Barcelona sporting director Deco remains 'keen' on the move with Rashford's versatility – capable of playing on either wing or up front – a complimentary fit in a supporting role to the existing frontline of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski. Advertisement However, other senior figures at Camp Nou have 'doubts' over Rashford as a target while the Blaugrana will need to sell in order to buy this summer. This means Rashford's 'dream move' is 'no close to becoming a reality,' the i Paper reveals. Rashford's status as an academy player means his sale would constitute 'pure profit' from a PSR perspective. And in a summer where every penny will count at Old Trafford, a £40 million cash injection from a player unwanted by the executive structure and the manager would have been a significant boost. But the 'dream' scenario for both player and club looks increasingly unlikely to play out with Barcelona seeking a loan, rather than a permanent deal for Rashford. Manchester United have fresh transfer deadline as Bryan Mbeumo wait continues
Manchester United must play a waiting game with the signing of Bryan Mbeumo. The Reds are closing in on a deal for the forward, who has indicated he wants to move to Old Trafford. But Brentford rejected an initial United bid totalling £55million and negotiations remain ongoing. Advertisement The transfer window reopens on Monday, following an initial 10-day period at the start of the month where deals were permitted ahead of the start of the Club World Cup in America. READ MORE: Hugo Ekitike to Man United transfer bombshell emerges amid Victor Osimhen stance on move READ MORE: Man United have decided on their next four signings after sealing £62.5m Matheus Cunha transfer United wrapped up a move for Matheus Cunha in that initial window after activating his £62.5million release clause at Wolves and made progress on the Mbeumo deal. The second window will stay open until September 1, shutting at the earlier time of 7pm, but United will want their new recruits in the building long before then. Advertisement Indeed, the Reds will aim to conduct the majority of their business this month, ahead of Ruben Amorim's squad returning for pre-season training in the first week of July. Having new signings in the building ahead of time will allow Amorim the maximum opportunity to work with the players as United aim to improve on a wretched 2024-25 Premier League season. The Reds finished a lowly 15th in the top flight and defeat in the Europa League final ended any hopes of European football. United will therefore have a lighter match schedule next term, which will allow Amorim more time to implement his methods. And doing so this summer with the new arrivals in place ahead of what will be his first full season in charge, could prove invaluable. The United boss has spoken before of the importance of having time with his squad, something that was in short supply last term amid a relentless fixture schedule. Advertisement "We have more time to train, two days in a row, to train with the team," Amorim said ahead of facing Liverpool in January, a game which they drew 2-2 and produced one of their better Premier League performances under the Portuguese head coach. "I think that can help us given the environment, it's a difficult moment because we are losing too many matches. We are going to face the best team this year. "With training, we feel more the team, we prepare more the team and we want to improve the performance compared to the last game." --- Here at the Manchester Evening News, we're dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
