Woman Grieves Loss Of Daughter-In-Law As Tragedy Strikes During Wedding
Last Updated:
Priyanka, the mother-in-law of the victim, decided to go ahead with the marriage ceremony of her daughter Sanskriti and also performed last rites for her daughter-in-law Tripti.
A wedding and a funeral took place within hours in Maharashtra's Jalgaon on Sunday after a 24-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her father during a wedding ceremony.
Tripti Mangale, 24, was allegedly killed on Saturday night by her father, Kiran Mangale, during a family gathering ahead of her sister-in-law Sanskriti Wagh's wedding.
Tripti's husband, Avinash Wagh, sustained serious injuries in the attack and is undergoing treatment, reported Hindustan Times.
Despite the incident, the Wagh family went ahead with the wedding ceremony on Sunday morning as the bride's mother, Priyanka Wagh, conducted the marriage rituals around 11:30 am with only close relatives present.
According to family members, the decision was made as the groom's family had already arrived and arrangements were in place.
Following the ceremony, Priyanka Wagh proceeded to the government hospital where Tripti's post-mortem was underway.
Tripti's mother reportedly refused to claim the body. As a result, Priyanka performed the last rites, assisted by a relative and local police officials.
Police said that Tripti's mother and other relatives declined to take responsibility for the funeral. 'The relatives, including Tripti's mother, refused to accept her body. Hence, with the help of her mother-in-law, the last rites were performed," Madhukar Salve, inspector at Chopda city police station, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Tripti was pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), while Avinash had completed Class 12 and worked as a helper in Pune.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident. Avinash was shifted to Pune for further medical treatment on Sunday evening, they added.

Special NDPS Court Grants Rhea Chakraborty Permission To Travel Abroad
Last Updated: Rhea Chakraborty was booked in a drugs case linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. A special court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has granted permission to actress Rhea Chakraborty to travel abroad for professional commitments. The court has allowed her to travel out of India from June 1 to September 15, 2025. Chakraborty, who is involved in a drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has been granted permission to visit Sri Lanka, Serbia, and various European countries to work on a new project. Rhea Chakraborty had recently submitted an application in the court seeking permission to travel abroad. She had stated that she was required to travel for the filming of Stepsons season one, an international production. Therefore, she requested the temporary release of her passport for visa processing. However, the prosecution opposed the plea and argued that the actress might use this opportunity to abscond. Rejecting the concerns, the court stated that Chakraborty is a Mumbai resident with 'deep roots in society". In an order dated May 29, Special Judge CS Datir stated that Rhea had previously travelled abroad with the court's permission when she also complied fully with all bail conditions. 'Considering her request and keeping in mind her past behaviour, I am inclined to allow her to travel abroad for the aforesaid period," the court ruled and then added, 'There is no occasion that she had infringed the bail conditions," as quoted by Hindustan Times. For the unversed, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in September 2020 after they found some chats with alleged drug peddlers on her WhatsApp. She was granted bail later, but had restrictions on her travel for a long time. Previously, in an interview, the actress, who was recently seen in Roadies, recalled her jail experience and called it 'frustrating'. 'It's frustrating; they're languishing, but they know when and how to catch that happiness. And it can be as small as a samosa on a Sunday. It can be as small as somebody dancing for them. So it's just perspective; it's how you look at it," she said. 'At that point, yes, my life was in the worst hell it could have been. But heaven or hell is a choice in your head that you can make. It's difficult to choose heaven each time. But the battle is of the mind, and if you have the strength and desire in your heart, you'll most definitely battle the mind and win," Rhea added.
