British TV star fuels fresh hope most iconic character could return
An icon of British television has fuelled fresh hopes for his beloved character to return after 30 years.
Rowan Atkinson has become synonymous on our screens for playing hapless individuals, such as Johnny English and in Blackadder.
But perhaps his silliest and most absurd role has to be none other than Mr Bean.
Last month, it was revealed that Blackadder writer Ben Elton wants to revive the classic sitcom.
A fourth Johnny English film was also rumoured to be in the works.
Now, the 70-year-old actor has refused to rule out a live-action return to Mr Bean.
The original ITV sitcom for Mr Bean came to an end back in 1996.
However, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Rowan discussed the possibility of reprising his role.
Presenter Richard Arnold asked the famous actor: 'What price to have you back doing a live-action version again?'
Rowan replied: 'Occasionally, I think about it. Is it worth it? Is there any need?'
'It probably won't happen. Almost certainly won't happen. But I have to say, it's not an impossibility.' Would you like to see Rowan Atkinson reprise his role as Mr Bean?
The 14 episodes of Mr Bean on ITV were broadcast in 245 countries, and from there are more than 23 billion views of clips on YouTube from the series and its animated spin-off.
Rowan went on to say that the reason for this success is because Bean is 'a child trapped in a man's body and that's always fun to watch'.
Rowan has appeared as Mr Bean in two separate feature films, Bean (1997) and Mr Bean's Holiday (2006).
He also surprised fans when he showed up as Mr Bean during the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, as well as doing sketches for Comic Relief.
In December last year, Love Actually writer Richard teased that some exciting plans for Blackadder could be in the pipeline.
In 1989 the very first episode of the farcical British series was released, in which Rowan Atkinson's Edmund Blackadder was introduced for the very first time.
Co-created by Rowan and Richard, the historical comedy went on to become a cultural phenomenon, spawning 24 episodes over a six-year period. More Trending
As well as this, four specials were created, the last of which aired in 1999.
Speaking to Metro's Tori Brazier, Richard addressed the prospect of Blackadder returning in the near future.
He said: 'Rowan and I have a plan for something we might do which would just be a bit of fun sometime in the next few years,.

'I'd love to work with Rowan one more time on something.'

Lorraine Kelly filming new project amid 'insulting' cuts to ITV show
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Lorraine Kelly has revealed she's taking a break from her ITV show for an "amazing new project" leaving fans eager for her return. The beloved 65-year-old Scottish presenter took to Instagram to announce her one-week hiatus as she ventures up north for a project. In her Instagram video, Lorraine excitedly wrote: "BIG FILMING ADVENTURES! ! ! ! Heading to the very far north - it's going to be amazing - see you in a week's time!" She told her 581,000: "Hi there! I'm in the land of the midnight sun. It's absolutely glorious. It's a project that I have wanted to do for years and years and finally it is actually happening. "I'm heading really, really far North. It is going to be amazing and I will tell you all about it when I am back. I'm back a week tomorrow (Monday) and I will see you then. Wish me luck." (Image: Getty) This announcement follows reports that Lorraine was less than impressed with an alleged proposal from ITV. It's been suggested that chiefs proposed integrating her self-titled programme with Good Morning Britain, an idea she reportedly declined. The supposed offer would have seen Lorraine hosting the breakfast segment for half an hour each day, similar to the temporary format used during the COVID-19 crisis, which insiders have described as an "easy fix," reports the Express. Sources close to the presenter, now 65, allegedly revealed that she felt "insulted" by the proposal and declined it. Substantial shifts at ITV have had a significant impact on Lorraine, with the programme being reduced to airing 30 weeks a year and the episode length cut from one hour to just 30 minutes. One insider shared: "Lorraine was not happy about what is happening and also had concern for the production team which will be cut back too. "But the truth is she has to roll her sleeves up and work harder on her own show than she has in recent years, otherwise the long-term future does not look good." Lorraine is on ITV1 weekdays at 9am and ITVX

Rose West has new grandchild after son welcomes baby with former model
Rose West has another grandchild after her son welcomed a baby with his fiancée, a former model. Stephen West, 51, and Emma Bradley have had a baby daughter called Eden – though it is unlikely Rose will ever see the child, as her son has cut all ties with his mother. Serial killer Rose, 71, is currently serving a life order in jail, after she and her husband Fred, Stephen's father, tortured and murdered at least ten young women between 1973 and 1987. She also killed her eight-year-old step daughter Charmaine in 1971. It's understood Stephen and Emma got together despite concerns raised by Emma's family over Stephen, who was jailed for nine months in 2004 for seven counts of underage sex with a 14-year-old girl. Sources told The Sun that Stephen makes her relatives 'uncomfortable' and the relationship has created a 'rift' in the family. The pair are reportedly getting married in Newport in August. Emma, a nurse who works at Gloucester Royal Hospital and was once a model, has two daughters from a previous relationship. She and Stephen had watched the new Netflix documentary, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, according to one source, but she said her fiancé 'doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones'. Stephen – who grew up in the house where most of the murders happened – has been married twice before and now has eight children. He is also a grandfather. He once acknowledged sharing certain characteristics with Fred, saying: 'There's a bit of my dad in me.' Rose, who has spent almost 30 years in jail, is thought to have given up attempts to appeal her 2001 conviction and has accepted she will die behind bars. She has reportedly been moved to a disabled room at HMP New Hall near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, after suffering ill health and struggling to walk. A source told the Sun: 'She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if she goes anywhere. 'Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own.' Rose is thought to have changed her name by deed poll in December to Jennifer Jones to distance herself from her crimes. More Trending But the source added: 'No one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. 'When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected.' They said she likes to watch nature documentaries on her TV in her cell, 'especially ones about birds'. Fred West – who committed at least 12 murders – was found dead in his prison cell in 1995 after taking his own life. Ranvir Singh left gobsmacked as BGT winner Harry Moulding wows her with ‘absolutely ridiculous' card trick on Lorraine
RANVIR Singh was left gobsmacked after Britain's Got Talent champ Harry Moulding wowed her with an "absolutely ridiculous" card trick live on-air. The magician, who has been part of the illustrious Magic Circle since he was a youth, scooped the ITV reality series title this weekend. 7 7 7 7 Harry, 24, was crowned BGT winner in a tense final - taking hone £250,000 in the process. Yet while the Blackpool lad's victory was shrouded in "fix" claims, he shrugged off the backlash on Monday's Lorraine. Good Morning Britain anchor Ranvir, 47, was standing in for regular host Lorraine Kelly, 65, and told how Harry was a "good old Northerner, a Lancashire lad," before she added: "You always had my vote." As his interview wrapped, he pulled out a pack of cards to challenge Ranvir. He asked her to pull a card from the pack and show the camera, where she revealed it was the 10 of clubs. Harry didn't look at the card but asked her: "All good, are you happy? "Just say stop in it goes," before she inserted it back into the pack which he shuffled slowly, at Ranvir's request. To her shock he then pulled out the 10 of clubs and confessed: "No, most magicians wouldn't show you the moment this happens but I will. "If you watch that 10, we will bring it really close, I'm going to let you do this. "Can you push it in [the pack] yourself?" Harry Moulding crowned winner of Britain's Got Talent 2025 After a click of his fingers, Harry said "look at me," and Ranvir let out an audible gasp. The ITV favourite said: "What did you just do there?" as he replied: "It jumped all the way here." She could then be seen clapping as she said: "That is absolutely ridiculous well done." SHOW FIX? Prior to the BGT show final, angry fans of the series took to social media and shared their thoughts about an act that seemed to get special treatment and more air time. BGT's Best Golden Buzzer Moments BGT have handed out many Golden Buzzer's over the years, can you remember some of the most famous Loren Allred - Loren Allred, 32, from Brooklyn, New York jetted to London to audition after recording the vocals for The Greatest Showman. The stunning singer got a standing ovation and a Golden Buzzer from the judges as she delivered a stirring rendition of Never Enough from the popular film. Loren came out on stage and revealed to the judges they would have heard her voice many times before that moment. "I was hired to record the vocals for The Greatest Showman as a guide for the actors to know how to sing the songs," she explained. Loren then revealed actress Rebecca Ferguson was so stunned by her singing that she decided to let her vocals be heard in the movie. "So she lip-synced," Loren said. Chicken Shed Theatre Company - Comprised of individuals aged between 5 and 37, the group was set up to welcome anyone irrespective of background to get up on stage and perform and fulfil their dream. Chicken Shed prides itself on accepting anyone and does not hold auditions to make the group a safe and inclusive space. The group wowed as they performed Wonder by Naughty Boy featuring Emeli Sande. It meant that Alesha wasted no time as she decided to hit her golden buzzer for the young performers. She told them it was her "honour" to reward their inclusiveness with her golden buzzer. The Dancing Granny - Granny Paddy Jones and her professional partner Niko Espinosa first hit headlines when they won the Spanish talent show Tú sí que vales in 2009, before going on to appear on Britain's Got Talent in 2014 where they came ninth. Amanda Holden was so impressed with Paddy that she gave her the Golden Buzzer, which sent them straight through to the semi-finals. But things took a worrying turn when Paddy cracked a rib while rehearsing a new move and her place on the show was under doubt. She was given the all-clear to perform in the end but didn't quite live up to expectations. Bars and Melody - They will forever be remembered for their anti-bullying song on the talent show. Bars and Melody were first seen on the 2014 series of Britain's Got Talent, getting shuttled into the semi-finals when Simon Cowell pressed his Golden Buzzer. They made it to the final thanks to a performance of I'll Be Missing You but lost out on the crown to Collabro. These days Charlie Lenehan - known as Melody - is covered in tattoos, with inkings on his neck, arms and chest. But he is as close as ever to co-star Leondre Devries - who is Bars - with the pair seen enjoying themselves in exotic locations all over the world. Magician Harry took to the stage again after winning a spot in the semi-final. And while he wowed the audience and judges, viewers thought that something wasn't fair. One disgruntled fan said: "10 minutes of sh**e. How come no other act gets that time. It's a big fix folks." Another added: "11 acts but some got more stage time than others! How can that be fair?" It's not the first time the magician has caused controversy because fans insisted they had worked out his semi-final trick. 7 7 7
