Wyoming carnival returns with extra police after closing for fights
WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Wyoming police are staffing more officers at a Spring Carnival Sunday after it was shut down for fights Saturday night.
Sunday's extra staffing is in an effort to maintain safety at the carnival, according to Lt. Andrew Koeller with the Wyoming Department of Public Safety.
'We do not have any information there will be any issues today, but out of an abundance of caution we increased staffing of officers dedicated to the event,' Koeller told News 8.
Police shut down Wyoming carnival for 'multiple large fights'
The Spring Carnival began Friday at Lamar Park and lasts until April 20. On Saturday night, 'multiple large fights' prompted an early shutdown and 'several juveniles' were arrested after the fights broke out, Koeller said. No one was injured, he added. It's not clear what led up to the fights.
Depending on what the prosecutor's office finds during review, the juveniles arrested could face charges, according to Koeller.

Deputies: Driver crashes into car dealership near Fruitport
SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver crashed into a car dealership in Spring Lake Township overnight, deputies say. It happened around 12:05 a.m. Friday at Johnson Auto Sales, located at 14658 Apple Dr. near N. Fruitport Road, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say a 34-year-old Muskegon woman was driving a Subaru Crosstrek and crashed into the dealership. No one was hurt, but the building was damaged. The sheriff's office is investigating. South Windsor man charged with drinking while driving wrong way on Route 5
SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — A South Windsor man was arrested early Friday morning after police say he drove the wrong way on Route 5 while intoxicated. Simon M. Muriithi, 22, was charged with operating under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and drinking while driving. Serious injuries reported after South Windsor woman is run over by car in driveway The charges stem from just after 1 a.m. when officers saw Muriithi's vehicle exit a parking lot on John Fitch Boulevard/Route 5 and start driving northbound in the southbound lanes. The vehicle was seen correcting itself at the next median break. It was around there, an officer pulled Muriithi over. During the stop, officers believed he was under the influence of alcohol. Police said he failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and they determined he had no license and was drinking while driving.
