New Ground full throttle towards Grand Prix de Paris test
Trained in France by Henri-Francois Devin, the New Bay colt faced a huge rise in class for the premier Classic at Epsom, but justified the decision of owner-breeders Juddmonte to supplement him with an excellent effort in defeat.
The three-year-old now has the opportunity to prove that performance was no fluke, with an appearance at ParisLongchamp on July 13 on the agenda.
Barry Mahon, Juddmonte's European racing manager, said: 'New Ground is in the Grand Prix de Paris and he's in the German Derby. We'll look at both, but it feels like the Grand Prix de Paris is probably the plan for him.
'He's a good horse, I think Henri always felt he was very talented and we knew a step up to a mile and a half was going to suit.
'I thought given how he behaved in the preliminaries, he ran an unbelievably good race as he got very warm and very excited, but he came home well.
'I think we're heading towards the Grand Prix de Paris and hopefully he'll run a good race there.'

UEFA have delayed the ruling over Crystal Palace's participation in next season's Europa League. The FA Cup winners are at risk of missing out due to UEFA's multi-club ownership rules. "This postponement relates to Olympique Lyonnais' compliance with the settlement agreement concluded with the CFCB First Chamber for its breach of the financial sustainability requirements. As part of this settlement, Olympique Lyonnais agreed on an exclusion from the 2025/26 UEFA club competitions should the French authority (DNCG) confirm the club's relegation to Ligue 2. Ann Budge to step down as Hearts statement released
Budge helped rescue Hearts from the depths of administration in 2014, becoming majority shareholder before eventually handed the reins over to the fan-led Foundation of Hearts. She has continued to act as chair and played a vital role in building the club back up. This has included the building of a new main stand as well as the Tynecastle Park Hotel. The Tynecastle side has also been back on the European scene after being on the brink of going out of business following the Vladimir Romanov days. After 11 years of involvement, Budge has now announced she will be stepping aside in December. Hearts have already started the search for a new chair. She told the club's website: 'This is something I have thought long and hard about. Having discussed this with the Board, I feel now is the right time to confirm that I intend to step down later this year. 'With Tony Bloom's investment now complete, and the supporters ensconced as custodians of the club, I believe I have done what I set out to achieve. 'The appropriate time for reminiscing and saying goodbye will come after the AGM in December but until then, my full focus will remain on what it has always been, and that is doing my very best for Hearts and our fans.'
