The Florida Panthers missed a prime opportunity to advance to the Stanley Cup Final after a 3-0 shutout loss in Game 4. They were without Sam Reinhart, Niko Mikkola, and A.J. Greer, all sidelined due to recent injuries.
Their absence was felt both offensively and defensively as Florida couldn't generate consistent pressure.
Carolina, facing elimination, played with urgency and structure. Florida, by contrast, lacked the sharpness seen in earlier games. Mikkola, who had scored twice in Game 3, and Reinhart, one of the team's top producers, left significant gaps. The result was a rare off-night in front of a home crowd hoping to celebrate a series win.
Coach sees loss as a chance to grow and refocus

Rather than express frustration, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice framed the Game 4 loss as a valuable learning opportunity. His approach reinforces a no-excuses mindset within the locker room, as he emphasized the need for continued growth. He also credited the Hurricanes for executing a disciplined game.
Maurice provided a note of optimism about the injured trio, and his statement, 'I would expect, hopefully at some point in this series, they'll be able to come back in and play.'

This suggests the team could soon regain a fuller lineup. While no timeline is set, the day-to-day status of Reinhart, Mikkola, and Greer keeps the door open for a return in Game 5 or beyond.

The series shifts to Raleigh for Game 5, with Florida still holding a 3-1 lead. The focus now is on correcting mistakes, tightening execution, and bouncing back with renewed intensity. The Panthers know they need to be better, regardless of who's available.

Game 4 is now part of the learning curve, not the narrative. The team has shown resilience throughout the postseason, and that identity will be tested again in this next matchup.

‘50 overs bhi nahi khel sakte...': Vaibhav Suryavanshi hype meets reality check; Yograj asks 'Can he survive 5 days?'

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's sensational rise in IPL 2025 has sparked a nationwide conversation. The 14-year-old dazzled in his debut season, scoring 252 runs for Rajasthan Royals, including a record-breaking 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans. His flair and audacity at such a young age had many drawing parallels with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Suryavanshi became the youngest-ever player to appear in the IPL, debuting at just 14 years and 23 days old against Lucknow Super Giants. Just nine days later, he lit up Jaipur with a jaw-dropping ton — the fastest by an Indian batter in IPL history. His red-hot form continued beyond the IPL. In a red-ball practice match at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, he reportedly smashed 190 runs off just 90 balls, making a strong case ahead of India Under-19's upcoming tour of England. But even amid the hype, a reality check came from former cricketer Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh. Speaking to InsideSport, Yograj raised a crucial question: "My vision is Test cricket. Can you survive five days? That's the real test. 50 overs - fair enough. 20 overs - fair enough. I don't go by these formats. But since they (formats) are there, you should be fit enough to play all three formats. Why do you struggle? Because you are only concentrating on T20, IPL and 50 overs. Aj toh 50 overs bhi nahi khel sakte hum log (Today, we cannot even play 50 overs). That's the way we are," he said. Yograj didn't stop there — he took a dig at coaches and administrators, accusing them of lacking passion: "All the coaches and all the administrators want to sit in the air conditioning and do things. Here, I am under 48 degrees Celsius, having a passion to produce more brilliant cricketers like Yuvraj Singh," he added. Vaibhav Suryavanshi's IPL heroics wowed fans, but Yograj Singh asks tough questions: "Can he survive five days? That's the real test of a cricketer."

Oilers make changes for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. — Two consecutive losses to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final prompted the Edmonton Oilers to make a series of changes for Game 4 on Thursday night. In at forward is Jeff Skinner, replacing Viktor Arvidsson, and on defense Troy Stecher took John Klingberg's place after some rough performances so far in the series. 'Felt that we could use the change, have those guys come in, give us a boost,' coach Kris Knoblauch said after his team's morning skate. 'We've seen it throughout the playoffs where we've made alterations to our lineup and it's benefited us.' Skinner is playing just his third playoff game after playing an NHL-record 1,078 in the regular season before getting into the postseason. Fittingly, it came with Taylor Swift in attendance many years after Skinner memorably gave her a No. 53 Carolina Hurricanes jersey with his name on it. Stecher, paired with Darnell Nurse, is also making his debut in the final after playing a handful of games earlier on this run when Mattias Ekholm was out injured. 'I play a simple and steady game," Stecher said. 'I don't do anything great, I don't make a lot of mistakes, and I feel like they know what to expect out of me every night.' Knoblauch also moved Connor Brown to Edmonton's top line on the right side of center Connor McDavid and left wing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, with veteran Corey Perry getting bumped down to the fourth line. 'A guy that's playing really well, skates well, good with the puck, confident guy that can play up and down your lineup," McDavid said. "Looking forward to it." Stuart Skinner remains the Oilers' starting goaltender after getting pulled from their Game 3 loss. Skinner allowed five goals on 23 shots but did not think he would lose the net to journeyman backup Calvin Pickard. 'I don't really see too much reason to panic quite, quite yet,' Skinner said. 'It's a good opportunity for me to come back. Obviously we lost two in a row, and I'm good in these situations. I know how to bounce back.' Nugent-Hopkins skated Thursday morning after not practicing earlier in the week because of an undisclosed injury. He said he was feeling good. Florida is 5 of 17 on the power play, and it's not just the first unit coming through. The second power play with forwards Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett, Carter Verhaeghe and Evan Rodrigues and defenseman Nate Schmidt running the point has been producing. During this playoff run, that group has scored four times in just over 10 minutes of ice time. 'We're building a lot of chemistry playing together,' Verhaeghe said. 'We have so many great players on the unit. Both units have been pretty good. I mean, we just want to move the puck right and get pucks to the net.' Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling turns 29 on Thursday. The smooth-skating Swede has quietly been one of the team's best players during these three consecutive trips to the final. 'Unbelievable player: He's so fit, so strong, and he can skate like the wind and has such a good stick,' Verhaeghe said. 'I wouldn't want to play against him. He's so good defensively and closes his gap so quick that he doesn't allow you to have any space out there. You get the puck, your head is up, and he's on you. He's so elite at that. So good for our team.' NHL playoffs: /hub/stanley-cup and /hub/nhl

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce make surprise appearance at Stanley Cup Final Game 4 between Oilers and Panthers

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce makes surprise appearance at Stanley Cup Final () Pop icon Taylor Swift turned heads yet again—this time not at a concert but at the Stanley Cup Final. The international superstar made a surprise appearance at Game 4 between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers on Thursday night, sending shockwaves of excitement through fans in Sunrise, Florida. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce steal the spotlight with unexpected appearance at Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Taylor Swift was joined by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and the duo reportedly arrived in style—by helicopter—near Amerant Bank Arena. Their high-profile arrival was first reported by ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, who noted some VIP-level security changes to accommodate the couple: 'The VIP entrance has been closed to the public, as are the elevators to the press box,' Wyshynski posted prior to the puck drop. This marks yet another unexpected sports crossover moment for Swift, who has become increasingly present at major athletic events amid her relationship with Kelce. Her arrival electrified the Stanley Cup atmosphere, adding an extra layer of star power to an already high-stakes game. Adding another quirky twist to the evening, Edmonton forward Jeff Skinner rejoined the lineup for Game 4—coincidentally the same Jeff Skinner who once posed for a famously awkward photo with Taylor Swift back in 2013. The timing couldn't be more perfect for fans eager for both hockey action and pop culture nostalgia. Game 4 carries huge implications for both teams. The Florida Panthers entered the night leading the series 2-1, looking to extend their advantage and place the Oilers on the brink of elimination. On the other hand, Edmonton is desperate to even the series before heading back home for Game 5 on Saturday. The added buzz from Swift and Kelce's presence seemed to amplify the night's significance, not just for the fans in attendance, but for a global audience tuning in to see whether the Oilers could rally or the Panthers would tighten their grip on the Cup.
