McClaren confident Greenwood wants to play for Jamaica
Jamaica coach Steve McClaren is confident Marseille's former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood still wants to play for the country.Greenwood has a single England cap but Football Association chief executive Mark Bullingham has confirmed the 23-year-old has said he intends to switch allegiances. The process has been held up because the documentation required by the Jamaican Football Federation is still to be received. It was hoped the switch was going to be concluded by the summer, when Jamaica play two friendlies in the United Kingdom before starting their World Cup qualifying campaign in June and then, potentially, featuring in the Concacaf Gold Cup.That is no longer certain and Greenwood - currently second in the Ligue 1 scoring charts with 15 goals - is now experiencing issues at his French club, who signed him from United on a five-year contract last July.Marseille coach Roberto de Zerbi dropped the forward for the weekend defeat by Lens, saying Greenwood is "too inconsistent" and "if someone trains badly, they won't play, no matter what their name is".But McClaren, who managed England from 2006-07 and has been in charge of Jamaica since last year, said: "We are in contact all the time, with him (Greenwood) and his family.
"I am very confident he only wants to play for Jamaica. It is up to him when he moves forward with that. The ball is in his court."McClaren also delivered some positive news around West Ham forward Michail Antonio, whose career seemed to be in doubt when he suffered an horrific car crash in December. The pair have spoken about the progress Antonio has made and the 34-year-old expects to be available in the summer."Michail has come from non-league and fought his way through to play in the Premier League, in top games in Europe and for Jamaica, making an impact wherever he goes," said McClaren."The impact [of the accident] was horrendous. He is confident he will come back and is aiming for the summer period, or hopefully our World Cup qualifying group in September, October and November."He is a true character off the field, always bubbly and great for the squad. We miss that."He says the one thing he has got is motivation. When warriors have motivation, they tend to achieve their goal. His goal is to be back in the summer to help Jamaica."

Bruno Fernandes reveals he rejected Saudi Arabia move to ‘stay at the highest level'
Manchester United's captain, Bruno Fernandes, has confirmed he has turned down a money-spinning move to Saudi Arabia because he wants to 'stay at the highest level'. The 30-year-old midfielder has been the subject of speculation linking him with a £100m switch to Al-Hilal, with the Saudi Pro League side reportedly prepared to pay him £700,000 per week. However, Fernandes confirmed he had rejected the chance to move after speaking to Ruben Amorim and his own family. 'The president of Al-Hilal called me a month ago to ask about the possibility of me moving there,' Fernandes said, according to the Portuguese news outlet O Jogo. 'I had to wait a while to think about the future. As I've always said, I would be willing to do it if United thought it was best to move on. 'I spoke with Ruben Amorim, who really tried to talk me out of it. I spoke to the club, who said they weren't willing to sell me, only if I wanted to leave. From my side, it was a very ambitious proposal, the president was a fantastic person. I never talked about the money, it ended up coming up later, with my agent. 'I had to make the decision as a family and understand what I wanted for my future. That was the question my wife asked, what my professional goals would be. At no point did she say yes or no, she always supported me and put my professional side first. It was an easy move, even at a family level. I had Rúben Neves, João Cancelo. My children are used to playing with theirs. 'But I simply want to stay at the highest level, playing in the big competitions, because I still feel capable of that. I want to continue to be happy and do what I love most. I'm still very passionate about this sport. It's my way of seeing football and I'm happy with my decision.' Neville told Sky Sports: 'It's significant. To turn that money down at a point where Manchester United are at their lowest ebb and say, 'No, I want to fight through this, I want to see it through the other side, I want to come out and achieve things,' I think it says a lot about him as a person, as a character.'

Man Utd braced for second transfer blow as Bruno Fernandes back-up plan emerges
Manchester United are making big moves in the transfer market having already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, while Bryan Mbeumo is expected to arrive soon from Brentford Manchester United are set to be handed two transfer blows after reports that Saudi clubs are rivalling them to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and Atalanta's Ederson. The Red Devils are preparing for a big summer in the transfer market as Ruben Amorim looks to overhaul his struggling squad that finished 15th in the Premier League. The Red Devils have already signed Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and look close to signing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, but Amorim won't be satisfied there. After watching forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee score just seven goals between them in the Premier League this season, Amorim will be desperate for more firepower. United have been linked with a move for Napoli's Osimhen, who has just spent the season on loan at Galatasaray. However, his future looks finished in Naples after falling out with boss Antonio Conte and expressing a desire to leave. But according to L'Equipe, Saudi officials are currently in talks over a deal for Osimhen - with Al-Hilal eager for the player to join should former Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic end up leaving. Al-Hilal are also interested in Ederson, who they have turned their attentions to after being turned down by United captain Bruno Fernandes, who wants to continue playing in Europe. Amorim has prioritised strengthening his options in the middle of the park, but the club's priority is bolstering their attack - with Cunha the first step in that plan. United plan to make more movements towards signing a new central midfielder once they have confirmed a few more outgoing players, with Casemiro not getting any younger at 33. Amorim is a huge admirer of Ederson, who started 32 times for Atalanta this season. But now Al-Hilal look set to disrupt United's summer plans by pushing for both Osimhen and Ederson - with the Saudi side able to offer much higher wages - after being rejected by Fernandes. With Fernandes likely to stay, it does mean United won't collect the £100m fee that Al-Hilal were ready to pay - meaning they'll have to find more ways of spending their money while also staying within PSR regulations. Al-Hilal were willing to hand Fernandes £700,000-a-week if he moved to Saudi Arabia, but Fernandes has said no to the switch - despite being aware of the riches on offer and how it would benefit United. Fernandes doesn't want to uproot his family in Manchester and make a major cultural change by moving to the Middle East. He is also eager to play more football at the highest level in Europe for the time being.

Aberdeen ‘set to battle Premiership rivals in transfer race for SPFL side's top scorer'
ABERDEEN have reportedly entered the race for one of Scottish football's hottest properties - but face stiff competition from several clubs. Jimmy Thelin is aiming to add more quality to his Scottish Cup winning squad this summer and one position he's looking at is a new striker. 2 Jimmy Thelin is keen to add to his squad Credit: Andrew Barr 2 He could snap up a top player in Scotland Credit: Willie Vass Kevin Nisbet is set to return to Millwall following his loan spell, while Oday Dabbagh's future at Pittodrie is currently unclear despite the Dons having an option to sign him permanently from Charleroi. Aberdeen have yet to trigger a deal for the Palestinian forward as things stand. Thelin, 47, is assessing his options elsewhere and is expected to complete at least one swoop for another hitman. And it looks like he's found his next man right here in Scotland. The Belfast Telegraph claim Aberdeen are readying move for Ross County talisman Ronan Hale. Hale, 26, is currently with the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Iceland, but he will have a decision to make on his future when he returns to Dingwall. The former Cliftonville striker is expected to leave the Staggies after just one year following their relegation to the Championship. Hale scored two goals against Livingston in the Premiership play-off but he couldn't prevent his side from the drop and has likely played his last game for the club. It's said Aberdeen will face a battle to sign him as Dundee are also interested, along with a host of English clubs. EFL League One sides Wigan Athletic, Luton Town and Port Vale have all been reportedly keeping tabs on him as well. Aberdeen's Scottish Cup-winning heroes greeted by thousands on open top bus parade through the city after beating Celtic Hale scored 18 goals in all competitions for Ross County during the 2024/25 campaign. He could make his international bow for Michael O'Neil's side in the coming days after switching allegiances from the Republic of Ireland this year. The Staggies will command a healthy fee for the 26-year-old after he penned a three-year deal when he arrived at Dingwall last year.
