McClaren confident Greenwood wants to play for Jamaica
Jamaica coach Steve McClaren is confident Marseille's former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood still wants to play for the country.Greenwood has a single England cap but Football Association chief executive Mark Bullingham has confirmed the 23-year-old has said he intends to switch allegiances.The process has been held up because the documentation required by the Jamaican Football Federation is still to be received.It was hoped the switch was going to be concluded by the summer, when Jamaica play two friendlies in the United Kingdom before starting their World Cup qualifying campaign in June and then, potentially, featuring in the Concacaf Gold Cup.That is no longer certain and Greenwood - currently second in the Ligue 1 scoring charts with 15 goals - is now experiencing issues at his French club, who signed him from United on a five-year contract last July.Marseille coach Roberto de Zerbi dropped the forward for the weekend defeat by Lens, saying Greenwood is "too inconsistent" and "if someone trains badly, they won't play, no matter what their name is".But McClaren, who managed England from 2006-07 and has been in charge of Jamaica since last year, said: "We are in contact all the time, with him (Greenwood) and his family.
"I am very confident he only wants to play for Jamaica. It is up to him when he moves forward with that. The ball is in his court."McClaren also delivered some positive news around West Ham forward Michail Antonio, whose career seemed to be in doubt when he suffered an horrific car crash in December.The pair have spoken about the progress Antonio has made and the 34-year-old expects to be available in the summer."Michail has come from non-league and fought his way through to play in the Premier League, in top games in Europe and for Jamaica, making an impact wherever he goes," said McClaren."The impact [of the accident] was horrendous. He is confident he will come back and is aiming for the summer period, or hopefully our World Cup qualifying group in September, October and November."He is a true character off the field, always bubbly and great for the squad. We miss that."He says the one thing he has got is motivation. When warriors have motivation, they tend to achieve their goal. His goal is to be back in the summer to help Jamaica."

Manchester United are making big moves in the transfer market having already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, while Bryan Mbeumo is expected to arrive soon from Brentford Manchester United are set to be handed two transfer blows after reports that Saudi clubs are rivalling them to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and Atalanta's Ederson. The Red Devils are preparing for a big summer in the transfer market as Ruben Amorim looks to overhaul his struggling squad that finished 15th in the Premier League. The Red Devils have already signed Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and look close to signing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, but Amorim won't be satisfied there. After watching forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee score just seven goals between them in the Premier League this season, Amorim will be desperate for more firepower. United have been linked with a move for Napoli's Osimhen, who has just spent the season on loan at Galatasaray. However, his future looks finished in Naples after falling out with boss Antonio Conte and expressing a desire to leave. But according to L'Equipe, Saudi officials are currently in talks over a deal for Osimhen - with Al-Hilal eager for the player to join should former Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic end up leaving.
