Knight, Lachenmayer combine to allow just 5 hits and North Dakota State beats Kansas 4-3
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Colten Becker had two hits, an RBI and a great catch in the seventh inning, Logan Knight and Danny Lachenmayer combined to allow just five hits, and North Dakota State beat Kansas 4-3 on Saturday in the Fayetteville Regional.
NDSU (21-33), making its third NCAA Division I Tournament appearance, goes against the loser of Arkansas-Creighton on Sunday in another elimination game.

Kansas (43-17), in a regional for the first time since 2014, ends the season with the second-most wins in program history.
North Dakota State scored two runs in the first inning, both coming with two outs. Davis Hamilton scored from first on a double and a fielding error, and Becker added an RBI single.
Jackson Hauge tied it at 2-all in the fourth with his 20th home run of the season — one shy of the program record. His 70 RBIs are fourth most in school history.
Designated hitter Blake Timmons put NDSU back in front in the fourth with an RBI single and freshman Evan Gustafson sacrifice fly to the warning track in the fifth made it 4-2 lead.

Logan Knight (5-6) gave up three runs — two earned — across 6 1/3 innings and Danny Lachenmayer earned his ninth save after striking out three.
Cooper Moore (7-3) was tagged for four earned runs in five innings.

NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State Director of Athletics Dr. Melody Webb and head women's basketball coach Jermaine Woods have reached an agreement for a home-and-home series with nationally ranked Duke, bringing a major HBCU matchup to life over the next two seasons. The Spartans will travel to Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium on Nov. 12, 2025. The following season, the Blue Devils will make their first-ever visit to Echols Hall. Tipoff times for both games will be announced later. 'This is a landmark moment for our women's basketball program and our university,' Webb said. 'Hosting a nationally ranked team like Duke highlights our commitment to raising the profile of Norfolk State Athletics. It also provides our student-athletes and fans with a chance to experience top-tier competition on our campus.' The two programs have met only once before. In 2002, Duke defeated Norfolk State 95-48 in the NCAA Tournament's first round, shortly after NSU won its first MEAC Tournament Championship. The 2026 visit by Duke will be the first time an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent plays at Norfolk State, marking a historic milestone for the HBCU. The Blue Devils finished last season 29-8 and reached the Elite Eight, ending the year ranked No. 7 nationally. 'I appreciate Coach Kara Lawson's willingness to set up this series,' Woods said. CHICAGO (AP) — Kyle Teel has a new collared shirt and his own big league opportunity. Teel, one of the majors' top prospects, was brought up by the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Teel was acquired in the Garrett Crochet trade with the Boston Red Sox in December. He batted .295 with eight homers and 30 RBIs in 50 games with Triple-A Charlotte. When Chase Meidroth, another prospect who was acquired by the White Sox in the Crochet deal, was brought up in April, Meirdroth told Teel he might need a collared shirt for his major league arrival, and Teel gave the infielder one of his own. So Charlotte manager Sergio Santos returned the favor when he broke the news to Teel that he was going to Chicago, handing over a new shirt. Teel was the No. 14 pick in the 2023 amateur draft out of the University of Virginia. His arrival marks a positive moment for a last-place White Sox team in the middle of a painful rebuilding process. Chicago also optioned catcher Korey Lee to Charlotte and designated right-hander Ryan Cusick for assignment.
