'They copy-pasted from AI': Tech company offers Rs 20 lakh, can't find a single techie who understands code
A technology firm recently launched a hiring campaign for a well-compensated entry-level position offering a handsome Rs 20 lakh per annum. However, despite conducting a staggering 450 interviews, the company failed to find a single candidate suitable for the role. The recruitment team turned to the Developers India subreddit to share their ordeal, hoping to shed light on the complexities of hiring in the AI era. The company had posted job listings on LinkedIn for junior-level frontend and backend developers, as well as QA roles. The salary range—up to Rs 20 lakh—attracted a wave of over 12,000 applications. From the outset, the hiring team filtered out nearly 10,000 applicants, citing reasons such as poorly tailored resumes and a lack of relevant technical abilities. According to them, the early elimination was not about being overly selective but about saving both their own time and the applicants' from fruitless interview rounds. Those who did make it to the interviews were tested on fundamental programming principles as well as standard data structures and algorithms topics like trees, heaps, linked lists, and graph traversal methods such as breadth-first search and depth-first search. Interestingly, the firm even permitted the use of tools like ChatGPT during assessments to simulate a real-world working environment. However, this modern approach backfired. While candidates were quick to churn out working solutions—often copied directly from AI—the problems began when interviewers asked for an explanation. Most were unable to describe what their own code was doing or provide details about its time and space complexity. This led to the realization that many candidates were simply copying and pasting without comprehending the logic behind the code—a phenomenon the recruiter described as "vibe coding." This troubling pattern prompted the company to reflect on its own methods. Was the interview process too rigid or flawed? Or was it indicative of a larger issue where aspiring developers rely too heavily on AI tools, skipping the foundational learning necessary to become competent programmers? The Reddit community didn't hold back in its response. Some users questioned the company's recruitment practices, pointing out that spending 450 hours on interviews without hiring a single person suggested deeper internal problems. One user criticized the process as inefficient and misguided, arguing that the HR team might be more at fault than the candidates themselves. Another suggested that if so many interviews yield zero hires, it could be a sign that the hiring strategy—and not the talent pool—is broken.

5 years since Galwan, how India has fortified border with reforms and roads
Five years ago, on June 15, 2020, India lost 20 soldiers in the Galwan Valley clash with China in Eastern Ladakh - an event that not only redefined India-China ties but also triggered a series of reforms in India's defence posture and strategic planning along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).The Galwan clash, which saw Indian troops retaliate without firearms under existing protocols, also caused significant casualties on the Chinese side and marked a complete breakdown in trust between the two the years since, India has significantly restructured its military preparedness, reinforced border infrastructure, and intensified diplomatic engagements. The Indian armed forces enhanced their presence across the LAC, especially in Eastern Ladakh, with rapid deployment of troops and high-altitude warfare equipment. Emergency procurement provisions were invoked to expedite defence acquisitions, including surveillance systems, UAVs, artillery, and medical equipment for extreme terrain. The Galwan incident became a catalyst for infrastructure expansion. The Union Budget for FY 2025-26 allocated Rs 6.81 lakh crore to the Ministry of Defence, a 9.53% increase from the previous year. Of this, Rs 7,146 crore was set aside for the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which completed 75 projects worth Rs 2,236 crore in 2024 include roads and bridges in strategic regions like Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh. BRO's earlier achievements included the world's highest motorable road at Umling La (19,024 feet) and ongoing development of the Nyoma Airfield and Shinku La last five years have also seen the LAC's digital landscape transformed. Remote villages in Ladakh, including Galwan and Demchok, were connected to 4G networks under a joint initiative by the Indian Army and Bharti Airtel. This step opened up access to telemedicine, digital education, and government schemes, with the potential to improve tourism and local the diplomatic front, over 30 rounds of talks have taken place since 2020. India and China have conducted 21 rounds of Corps Commander-level discussions and multiple Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination (WMCC) meetings. Disengagement has occurred at several friction points: Galwan in July 2020, Pangong Tso in February 2021, PP17A (Gogra-Hot Springs) in August 2021, PP15 in September 2022, and most recently, at Demchok and Depsang in October diplomatic meetings also continued. On June 12, 2025, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong in Delhi to discuss bilateral ties, people-centric engagement, and reopening direct air services. Talks included progress on resuming hydrological data sharing and finalising an updated air services agreement. Visa facilitation, media exchanges, and commemorations of 75 years of India-China diplomatic relations were also partial disengagement, India remains cautious. 'Galwan was a turning point,' says Maj Gen Ashok Kumar (Retd), Director General of Centre for Joint Warfare Studies. 'It shattered all trust in Chinese political and military leadership. India's vigilance along the LAC is now permanent.'India's response post-Galwan is widely seen as a comprehensive shift—not only in defence and diplomacy but in redefining the strategic calculus of border management. Delhi chief minister announces revision of circle rates and formation of committee
New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday that there would be a revision of circle rates soon. Citing inconsistencies with market value of land, CM directed the revision of circle rates and announced the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of the divisional commissioner to carry out this task. The committee will submit a report based on current market conditions and property values, which will then be used as the basis for revising the circle rates. Gupta said that there were inconsistencies in the current circle rate structure across Delhi that required reassessment. Circle rates, or minimum rates for the valuation of land and immovable property, were last hiked for residential areas in all existing categories (A to H) in Delhi in 2014. The previous govt also proposed an increase in the circle rate on farming land from Rs 53 lakh per acre fixed in 2008 to Rs 2-5 crore. However, it was not notified. Officials said that since there is a big gap between the existing circle rates and the market rate at which the sale and purchase of properties take place, there was an existing proposal to hike the rates by up to 35%. They said that govt would now come out with a fresh proposal after including feedback of stakeholders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Govt may also consider downgrading or upgrading the categories of certain colonies based on their location, facilities and existing market rates. Officials said the previous plan prepared by the revenue department proposing the creation of sub-categories in A to H categories of residential areas with multiple slabs of rates was returned by the finance department with objections and suggestions. Delhi govt formed an empowered committee in 2016 and set up four working groups in 2021 to revise the rates, but no final decision was taken. Former deputy CM Manish Sisodia said in March 2022 that revising circle rates to align with the market rates was necessary to increase govt revenues in sectors other than GST. Lieutenant governor VK Saxena also asked the revenue department in Sept last year to give a presentation on the proposal it had finalised, but a perfect draft could not be readied. Gupta, after meeting with the task force to discuss the issues related to the development of better infrastructure in the capital and ease of doing business, said the meeting focused on critical issues such as unauthorised colonies, housing societies, redevelopment of colonies, and modernisation of infrastructure in industrial zones. CM said there was a need to make construction-related procedures simple, transparent and accountable to avoid unnecessary delays in developmental works. Regarding unauthorised colonies, Gupta instructed all civic agencies to take proactive steps for their improvement. She also directed Delhi Development Authority and urban development department to prepare a comprehensive and detailed report addressing issues related to ownership rights and property registration in these colonies.
