Man Utd's Diallo has no regrets over obscene gesture on post-season tour
Manchester United's Amad Diallo said he should not have raised his middle finger when walking past fans during the club's post-season tour in Asia but added that he had no regrets doing it as someone had allegedly insulted his mother.
The 22-year-old Ivorian winger was seen raising his finger when the team were walking past fans in Kuala Lumpur, where they lost to the ASEAN All-Stars on Wednesday.
"I have respect for people but not for the one who insults my mom. I shouldn't have reacted like that but I don't regret what I did," Diallo wrote on X on Thursday.
"We had a great time in Malaysia with good people."
Diallo had come on as a substitute for the second half of the loss. The players were also booed after the defeat and United boss Ruben Amorim said his team, who finished 15th in the Premier League, cannot hide from their fans.
United wrap up their post-season tour with a match against Hong Kong on Friday. REUTERS

The French wild card came into the tournament having earned about 20,000 euros this year but even if she loses to American Coco Gauff in the semi-finals on Thursday, the world number 361 can expect endorsements and sponsorships to come flooding in. If Boisson beats the second-seeded American and reaches the final she will receive a cheque for 1,275,000 euros, while if the 22-year-old wins the title she will pocket 2,550,000 euros. Boisson started a crowdfunding campaign a year ago, asking for help to "get back to the highest level and make it to the four Grand Slams this year" after suffering a serious knee injury just before Roland Garros, where she got a wild card. Boisson received another invitation from the French tennis federation to play at the tournament again this year and has not disappointed, beating world number three Jessica Pegula and Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva in the two previous rounds. Boisson only got 100 euros in crowdfunding in a year before that jumped above 1,000 just before the semi-finals but the talented youngster won't need to seek donations now. The investment adds star power to the Australian outfit that has dominated the global sailing championship, winning a trio of titles in four seasons of the high-speed racing series. "We're incredibly excited to set sail together in this new adventure," Jackman and Reynolds said in a characteristically wry statement. "Hugh brings a deep love for and pride in his home country as well as being an avid fan of sailing." The move comes just days after Oscar winner Anne Hathaway sailed into sports ownership, joining a female-led consortium that acquired the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team in what circuit CEO Russell Coutts called "another significant milestone in SailGP's growth as a league". Founded in 2019, SailGP pits national crews in identical 50-foot foiling catamarans reaching speeds over 100 km/h within metres of shorelines in iconic harbours worldwide. "This is an incredible milestone for us and for our sport," said Tom Slingsby, who serves as driver, CEO and co-owner of the Flying Roos. "With BONDS joining as our title partner, we're building something distinctly Australian - a team driven by spirit, resilience, and national pride." Founded in 1915, BONDS is one of Australia's most iconic apparel brands, best known for its underwear and loungewear that have been a staple in Australian wardrobes for more than a century.
