Anthony Edwards is a phenomenal player who deserves all the accolades he has achieved in his career. At only 23, he is already a refined player, but he still has some areas for improvement in his game.

That is normal for such a young player, but he is a superstar who carries his franchise on his shoulders. Edwards will continue working to be at his best to shine. A part of his game that might need some work is his post-up game, according to multi-time NBA All-Star Paul George.

Despite losing in the 2025 Western Conference Finals, Edwards has proven himself to be one of the league's very best players. He is the Timberwolves' superstar and leader, a role he lived up to throughout the 2024-25 season.
Since he has reached superstar status, he will also be held to some high standards. He is a fantastic offensive player, but he did struggle against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. He could have improved on that if he had played with a more dynamic style.

Posting Up His Defenders Might Be The Key For Edwards
As his career has progressed, Edwards has improved his game. Early on, he was mostly a slasher who thrived in the paint. That part of his game has never gone away, but he has worked on his jump shot, enough to become an elite three-level scorer.
He is a superb talent who can learn anything and make it work, but he could improve his in-between game. Edwards knows how to make pull-up mid-range shots, but he could also work on his post-up game, which could create mismatches against his defenders.
Every team knows what he will do, which is either pulling up for a three from the pick-and-roll or attacking the paint by going downhill. It is a predictable style, even if it is hard to stop. That was what the Thunder prepared for, which was why Edwards struggled a bit during the WCF.

"Where I think Ant's gotta get better at is he's gotta develop a post game. Where he can let the game slow down. He can get to one dribble, raise, and shoot," George said on Podcast P. "I think that helps a player get into a rhythm a lot better where he starts closer. He doesn't have to worry about bringing in two defenders to the ball to try and get free."
Edwards Could Reach Another Level With An Improved Offensive Game
If Edwards can improve his offensive game, he will become an MVP candidate. He came close with an All-NBA Second Team nod, but he will only grow as a scorer and playmaker.
The Timberwolves should have a good enough roster to return to the Playoffs, but they have some work to do. Surrounding Edwards with complementary talents should be a priority because Minnesota can compete against the best teams in the Western Conference.
Edwards is already one of the best shooting guards in the league, as he was only behind Donovan Mitchell in the All-NBA awards. At only 23, he has so much room to grow. The development will only be going forward, which is the right way to look at his growth.

United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino has ruled himself out the running to replace Ange Postecoglou, saying a return to Tottenham at this point is "not realistic".
